  1. The poor bugger. When he's finished the AB's start him on protexin or you can use natural yogurt. You need to start from the inside. Was he desexed recently as well ? Stress from teething, stress from surgery, stress from having a GA, plus whatever he's been through in his short life, growing rapidly, it's no wonder he's succumb to the mites Yeah, he was desexed about 6wks ago I think. Before he came to me. I've been giving him natural yoghurt most days. Where do you get Protexin?
  2. Nope, it's not like he's having a course of chemo or something like that, it's just a chemical being injected into the body. How bad is the pup ? is it localised and limited to his head ? Sorry, I missed this. He's very pink on his legs and feet as well as face, neck and mouth.
  3. But, it's too late for your list now I've gone down the injections route?
  4. Yes, Blackmore's ACE Plus Zinc, to boost his immune system, and Schuessler's Tissue Salts to clean his blood and heal his liver. You wil need to read up about Tissue Salts to decide which ones he needs. He may need a combination of two. There is also a very gentle Homeopathic formula called Traumeel, which Naturopaths use on babies. It comes in tablets and a cream. I would also recommend some Bach Flower Remedies. He could also have some Vitamin B if his mood is a bit low. These products are all available from health food shops and some chemists. You can also ring the Blackmore's Hotline and talk *live* with a Naturopath for free. Thanks
  5. He is itching. He's on Phenergen for that and post-surgery antibiotics for his leg. That's why I want to give him something natural to help. He's on a mostly raw diet, but he has some grain free kibble too.
  6. If the treatment has already been started does it need to be finished? He's only had one jab. He's approx 6mos.
  7. I didn't know that and the vet never mentioned it :/
  8. My foster pup has demodectic mange. We caught it early and he's being treated with weekly injections at the vet. Is there anything holistic I can give him to help boost his immune system?
  9. Usually a firm "f**k off" works, but one time it didn't so I asked a dog trainer friend what I should do in future. He said to carry one of those pop up umbrellas and open it in the approaching dog's face.
  10. It was just on the news. Showed the dogs. One bit the ranger when they came to seize them. They've been euthed. Is it seriously that hard to contain your dogs??
  11. I totally agree. My friend is an animal control officer. When she told me she's the only one for that particular council area I was gobsmacked! If I'm out walking in the morning and I see a roaming dog I can't call my council and speak to a person. I have to leave a message on a machine. It could be late afternoon by the time they return my call. Useless!
  12. It's just a simple idea that doesn't need a huge amount of organising, just some Facebooking. People can go where ever they want. In fact I don't think there should be a central meet as once you put a large number of strange dogs in the one area it's a recipe for disaster. It would only work if people were responsible enough to know which, if any, of their dogs would be a good ambassador. I'd love to bring Bruno but he gets spazzy excited when he sees another dog, so unfortunately he doesn't get to fly the flag this time. Maybe next year if it's an annual event
  13. I was just out walking Chopper, Angel and Trixie. They're well and truly broken in so when I see a kid reaching out to them I always stop and ask if they want to pet them. I don't care if the parent is in the process of trying to instill fear in the child, I think it's important to let people see that bull breeds aren't all sharks on legs [that's why Chopper's on a short lead on my other side where he can't reach them with his ginormous tongue! ] It got me thinking. What if I created a nationwide event and encouraged owners of all powerful breeds to put a tutu or a feather boa on their dog [or anything silly really, maybe a superhero costume, just as long as there are no spiked collars or chains], take it somewhere there'd be lots of families and encourage people to say hi to their dogs. Obviously it would need to only be dogs that are placid and would handle a situation like that well. But imagine if we all got out there and just got through to one person that it's not a breed issue, it's an owner issue. It could be a small step in making a difference.
  14. Ticket number have been published here > Petey had his leg surgery yesterday. They're keeping him there until next week, but he's doing well so far and they hope that he'll make a full recovery
  15. Where do you live? You should come and meet my dogs especially Esme, she has converted soooo many people. Even my parents were very anti SBT and then I got Esme. My mother now kissy coos any staffy types she sees in the street Ruthless has met her too, she is just an all round awesome dog. One of my friends the other day who is anti dog found herself defending the breed when other parents at a BBQ were saying how viscous they all are. My friend said she just couldn't imagine it and told them all that true to type SBT's are lovely. I have trained her well. Esme's awesome Nearly as awesome as Angel :p
  16. I was hoping for "my bull breed saved my life" type stories. I've arranged for a journo friend to pitch a positive bull breed story to his editor. I'm meeting with him today but due to a lack of stories I'm hoping to convince him to write an article about how the media has caused the hype and fear surrounding "Pitbulls" and how BSL doesn't work. I'll be putting him in touch with Poodlefan, Brad Griggs, Mike Bailey and Michael Linke.
  17. So glad this was the first thread I opened this morning! I think I'll shut DOL now before I ruin this joyous feeling by reading BSL threads.
  18. Thanks, I didn't know that. I thought if it was my dog I'd go to the vet but then I remembered when I broke my toe I just had to let it fix itself.
  19. I met someone on the weekend whose dog had a slight limp. She said she accidentally stood on it and thought the toe might be broken. She said there was no point going to the vet because they wouldn't be able to do anything. Is that true? Are dog toes like human toes, they just fix themselves? There's no treatment?
  20. If any bull breed owners have a dog whose story would be good for a positive article on bull breeds can you please contact me? [email protected] I've already asked ISSIS.
  21. Are you sure you didn't get a reply? I thought I emailed everyone on the ChipIn list Check your spam folder maybe? I only got tickets yesterday so I haven't sent anyone their numbers yet, but I will ASAP
