woohoo!!!!! cant wait to here how you go! dont worry she'll get it soon enough! Have a FAB first show tell your steward and judge your new and its your first time and remember to have fun. I was nervous with tobe when he first went in the ring that didnt just enjoy his naughtiness. I am about to hit the ring with our second pup and I am going to enjoy her "puppiness" in the ring while we can LOL Now just remember the most important thing is to report back and take pics!!! Agree with AS we need pics and news on how you go and yes just enjoy it...dont stress or be nervous (i know its hard not to be but try). No doubt you or her will do something silly we have all been there done that and we all lived thru it!!! Biggest thing is to listen to the judge and stewards instructions and watch what the judge is getting people to do so you already have an idea of what they are going to ask once you get in there. Dont worry if she sits...shes a puppy a good judge will see past naughtyness!!! ;) -

Hooray! Abit of training before her first show aye? Congrats Evolving that great news that she passed her tests with flying colours!!! How long does it usually take for a limit to main switch to happen? Fingers crossed its not a really long process and you can start entering her soon! -

Great piccys!!!! Ok so EXTREMELY dumbo question from me but why is the whippies wearing muzzles? Are they like racing whippies or something or am I seriously silly and they are greys? I thought only greys wore muzzles? P.s. I like the one who is one the bench or whatever he is standing on, fourth piccy down! he or she is seriously cute! -
Do You Thik He's Still Too Fat?
Nevafollo replied to HugUrPup's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Its awesome that puggy puggy was able to get her hands on him and help you, it is hard to advise just going from piccys. So how much more weight are you aiming to get off him? Good luck with the new diet I hope he trims up quick smart for you! -
Once a week washing isnt too much. Westies can have bad skin, so could imagine maybe her westie cross has something similar. Id be looking at diet and environmental allergies. She needs to wake upto hersellf and start trying to solve the problem instead of sticking her head in the sand as its only going to get worst most likely then she may have a very expensive vet bill!!! ETA my bet is food allergy...

Meh I dont mind if people think I'm a snob... I like my dogs to be predictable, and for them to ooze breed characteristics in regards to both looks and temperment!

Are Our Breeds Changing As Our Needs Are Changing?
Nevafollo replied to RufusTheDoofus's topic in General Dog Discussion
I certainly hope not!! And I seriously doubt it! Trends come and go...in 10yrs time purebreeds may be the in thing! Personally around where I live I see alot more pure breeds than crosses. We went to look at garage sales yesty and everyman and his dog (literally) were out and about we saw several staffords being walked, a number of beagles two of which were harnessed to a ute while their parents looked at garage sales a number of kelpies, cattle dogs, labs, goldens and border collies! We didnt see one oodle all day, at one sale we did see some mutty little foxie cross that the owners were telling one of their friends that they plan to breed...I promptly left wasnt giving them a cent of my money! -

Actually with pugs the breed standard weight isnt a very good indicator as alot of pugs are taller than what they should, its a sad fact but the breed has gotten bigger! Its always nice to see a correctly sized pug thou! -

I tend to agree with you Erny, some like to keep their pugs what I would call fat because they think it makes them look like they have good bone which is important in the breed...silly really!!! SecretKei's suggestion is a good one I was going to advise you to do this aswell, but personally I would only look at males, as females are finer. A few dogs that I think are a good weight are the following: http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=45855 (recent BOB and in group winner for the royal...not only a fit healtrhy looking pug but also a good example of the breed) http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=26954 Another of my faves http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=22339 And last but not least! -

Yep going from those pics I'd be getting more weight off him! Pugs in general are rather chesty but shouldn't be fat chesty if you know what I mean! kirty who is Frankie? ETA I dont think he needs alot more weight off but abit more wont hurt and he will feel so much better for it! -

Wiki knows all http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobby_(in_dogs)#Body The body may be described as "cobby" (short and square) or sometimes by a ratio of height to length -

Nevafollo replied to HugUrPup's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I wasn't going to wait for him to be totally rolling in fat before doing something about his weight. He had already lost a lot of weight, but then suddenly put it on over 2 weeks, so yeh, if he can put it on the fast I would hope he can take it off that fast too. I don't want to go overboard or expect too much either... it's hard with a pug, because I have only ever come across fat ones irl so I don't know if they were all unhealthy or if that's fine for the breed. What's cobby mean? I have seen pugs described as "cobby" before. I'd be getting more weight off him personally, he looks like hes carrying a big of weight around his chest going from that pic a few others might help! People often get Cobby and fat confused they are ment to be stocky solid dogs not weddy and scrawny or big fatty bombas! -
Good job SB! glad it's looking good now, and what a bargain @ $10!!! Yeah it was a great bargain, got it from a garage sale...narrowly missed out on a hydrobath that was in full working order and only sold for $200 kicking myself I didnt get that one! I had to replace the bottom and the hinges and put new grip on top and on the bottom, I think all up it cost about $70 which is awesome considering how much they sell for second hand! Anyway its perfect for the pointer seeings she keeps distroying soft crates :D Bad pointee!

I just spray painted an old C-crate trolley that I picked up for $10...its had seen better days but its looking good now! In hind sight I should have spray painted it a really cool colour but white was just an easy choice at the time and will do for now. So far no paint has come off, I used rust guard paint... not sure if that was the best idea or not but it worked!!!
