  3. OMG It is your peke that has been doing the death roll.   It sure is.
  4. Can I ask why did their shape/structure change?
  5. Group 1B in the Pugs...Aimhi Flying First Class BOB (Albress/Trotter) Aimhi Chasing Rainbows Dog CC (ME) Not bad when there were 50 Pugs shown...both sired by my Pugs so very happy. My Pekingese even won his class and WALKED beautifully..that may not mean much but people that have been entertained by his rolling onto his back will know what a milestone it was Had a great day, long but good.
  6. That is one pretty cute puppy...at Red Cliffs show on Sunday I saw an adult Bernese, beautiful dogs. :D
  7. Me going too :D ...do all the rings start at the same time?
  8. My cows have a good life they graze 30 acres and get talked to nice by us humans and when we slaughter them we get a mobile butcher who is a dead eye dick with his rifle, spread out hay as usual and they die never knowing what happened. Go look at where your meat comes from that you buy in the supermarket...Feed lots...the cattle dont have a good life, wouldnt know what grass was....at least they die humanely.
  9. No I dont think I would agree with that Maremmas do defend the flock but they also defend the territory and anything considered normal with in it. The Maremmas take down eagles and crows. Sorry that is a point of misinformation then as I was told that it is best to have 2 mareemas, one to gaurd the flock and one to deal with the intrusion....whereas the Anatolian protects his boundary and all in it. I chose the anatolian as I did not want the intruder namely stray dogs after my sheep getting past the fence. Fox, dog etc would have to go around my property and not given passage thru it simply becasue it stays away from my flock. ETA...about Eagles, I had 4 magnificent specimens flying ove our place yesterday, they were flying so low I could hear their calls to eachother clearly, I raced out and picked up baby puggy and Gustave was lying taking no notice of them...perhaps he will when he is older.
  10. Then get out and SOCIALISE your dogs. Cover their crates so they cant see any other dogs or people when they walk passed. Myself, my dogs and other exhibitors and their dogs should not have to put up with dogs lunging at crate walls at us walking passed and carrying on barking, snarling etc. You wouldnt accept it from a larger dog, a GSD or Rotti or Dobe so it is not ok from smaller dogs. (i dont care which would cause more damage if they connected) - it is not acceptable for the dog walking down the street to behave like that and it is not acceptable for show dogs either Did you read my next line?? I was reacting to this sort of comment: Rousing at a terrified dog doesn't stop if from being terrified, it makes it more terrified! My little dogs have been lunged and accosted at by all kinds, big and small! I didn't get apologies either. There are crates holding large breeds where they fling themselves at crate walls to get at you and your dogs. You can stand pointing at the Toy ring and ignore the fact that there is ignorant and lazy owners elsewhere. I recall a poor stressed out Ridgeback at a royal who had a sheet draped over their cage but was still making unpleasant aggressive noises and "rocking" the cage. Dog really should not have been at the Royal and certainly not had it's cage in a walkway. I felt sorry for it and could see it was an accident waiting to happen. Maybe I can make a diary of walking my well socialised small fluffy and the things he has to deal with, with dogs that are 10 times bigger than him. Good idea Lowenheart...and I think I will let my unruly undisciplined show pugs bark their bloody heads off at all the big dogs that go past, instead of rousing on them every 2 mins, just to keep other people happy. You can even tell me who you are on the way past so I can wave at you.!
  11. You're misinformed. Islam does not condone an animal suffering anymore than it should for food purposes, infact the Indonesian clerics have condemned the acts of the abbatoir workers who were cruel to the animals as sinful. It's Australians who are using religion to have a go at the big bad Moslems They may not condone animals suffering but it is in their religion that an animal be alive when its throat is cut...so it can be properly bled. They have been sinful for 20 years this isnt something that has just happened overnight.
  12. Absolute crap...I didnt watch the program but a good friend animal like minded told me about the footage and said "they were trying to kill the cow with a BLUNT hacksaw and the poor cow was flayling around". My butcher has a knife that he kills sheep with and he hardly has to touch them as the blade is soooo sharp. These people didnt care about the cow and did not treat it with the respect one of gods creatures demands, and an aussie one at that. This has been going on for 20 years...beyond expressions of words.
  13. When we were deciding between a MAreema and an Anatolian the difference I came up with is that the Mareema defended the flock, whereas an Anatolian defended its Territory and animals/humans within that territory. Our Gustave, an Anatolian from Lilli, is only 5 mths old but he knows when I bring home a new animal, can pick out of the house pugs which one is the new one, and barks at airplanes lol....but ignores the eagles. We have a Tennis court that doesnt get used for tennis, that is Gustaves place to go when I know the Telstra bloke is coming, or the SEC man to read the metre...and when he barks the whole time they are here he is told what a good boy he is...he knows he gets introduced to people we like that we want him to like too. Since having Gustave we have not had Kangaroos sitting in the top paddock or the bottom paddock, we are on 40 acres...they still go in the front paddocks but these cannot be seen by Gustave.
  14. I voted No No and No...although I have been known to take an extra baby along to socialise but not that often. Being in the Toy ring is a pain in the butt when giant/large breeds walk passed...a trolley full of Pugs find it most neccessary to bark at every big dog that goes by. Giant/large breed dogs that are also being shown think nothing of the trolley full of abuse, but a pet being led on inappropriate collars and leads with inexperienced handlers aka Joe public feel the need to stop and laugh and further antagonise the Pugs with their dogs!!! This is tolerable in an open space as a footy oval...but in an enclosed area like Bulla or the Park it is most annoying. Used to be worse at the old showgrounds as pet people mainly it seemed with staffies with big spikey collars on (no offence Staffy breeders/exhibitors) paraded their dogs thru the Toy ring dogs.
  15. I start my pug puppies at 6-8 weeks on chicken necks, they dont really do the meaty bones. They lick the necks till they get the hang of them, and then they are fine, so by the time they go to their homes they are having about 3-4 a week. At this age they learn to put their foot on one end of the neck. Once I wean it is a total stopping of mum feeding them...otherwise Pug puppies would not eat solids at all, they are so stubborn. I think once you take mum away totally from your guy he will be much more eager to eat.
  16. This is the sole reason why I didnt get another Boxer...after my 11 yr old Boxer girl had complications after a twisted bowl op....cos I know what I am like and I would have compared everything to Daphne....lucky for me a Pugs personality is just like my Daphne but in a smaller package.
  17. I voted instantaneous....which is a very hard connection to ignore once you have felt it. And it is easier to let the dogs go that you dont have that instant connection with. As a breeder I think I have an instant connection with puppies as they are born lol...and I see that instant connection when new puggy owners come to pick up their puppies...I love seeing that whole body acknowledgement of the hearts connecting :D cos it is a physical reaction. I know the ones I run on for showing that dont work out get re-homed before they are 12 mths old, specially if I dont have that connection with them. But I see it in the people that come look at them, and the pugs can feel it too as they seem to know that in their behaviour. So, if you dont look at your little guy and wonder sadly what life would be like without him, maybe he would better re-homed. As many have said there isnt room in your heart yet for another dog. I had a lovely couple come to look at a 3 year old male pug one day that I hadnt considered re-homing but I was willing to re-home him to someone if they had that connection with him. But they left without him to think about it...I knew they wouldnt take him as it was way too soon to replace their adult pug with another adult pug...but they did get a puglet from another breeder, an 8 week old.
  18. If that is full get out of your car, move the white painted barrier and drive your car staight over to the car park at the back, hardly anyone parks out there.
