Want A Dog, But Need Help Choosing A Breed.
Shazzapug replied to jebee's topic in General Dog Discussion
before my friend fostered her very first greyhound, someone who had one in a different state, told her she should never get one and she, my friend, would have nothing but trouble. The reverse has been true, there has never been a moments trouble with the greys and the fences. My friend introduces all the new greys to the fences on lead, lets them off lead only when the others are locked away etc. If my friend had listened to the naysayer, there would have been a few dozen less greys fostered and several delighful greys miss out on the best possible home they could ever have had. Ok...we have a fenced 650 mtr driveway they could run down lol. -

my friend has had quite a few over the years, she lives on 100 acres anything is possible if you really want it. But I was told they would run thru the ringlock fences and that would really hurt.....and 100 acres probably have less fences than our 40. hers have all respected the fences, ordinary cattle fences, the house yard and most (maybe all) of the fences have a hot wire on them cause of the cattle. They can put up a bunny, chase it to the fence and they stop. Or at least they run up and down the fence for a bit. No attempt to get through or to jump over it. All have caught bunnies before, a couple just in the last week in the house yard. She does have a fully enclosed (with a roof) dog run for them when she goes out. That sounds promising thankyou Rebanne. -
I remember when you first got her and the pic in the kids bed....great photos, Pia is beautiful.

If I didnt live on acres (where a greyhound could hurt itself locking in on a rabbit on the hill) I would definately adopt a Greyhound. Your circumstances and family sound perfect for one....you'll wonder why you didnt get a big lounge lizard before. -
When I saw it on the news, there were people combing the park looking for anything else that could of been dropped. Thats good....hope there arent any more dog deaths.

Goat Meat Supplier - Melbourne Region
Shazzapug replied to Dxenion's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wht dont you ring around a few Goat dairys or Boer goat studs and tell them you would be interested in buying kids from them....a lot of Dairys or large studs knock buck kids on the head cos they dont have an outlet for them....if you gave them a reason to keep them alive you would have a good supply. Just a thought. -
Do you have any idea of how many off lead dog parks and onlead parks are around the Inner West? That would be an impossible task. I have no idea....but if there is poison bread around shouldnt someone be looking? Have the posioned dogs all been in the same park? The thread title does say Earlwood.
-
Shouldnt a council worker be running around the park looking for blue bread and disposing of it?

I did the survey on my Maggie moo aka 7 yr old Pug entire bitch who has only had confirmation training.....I was ticking from one extreme to the other lol.

Recently one of my bitches had this liquid in all her mammary glands, but this was after her milk dried up once her puppies were weaned. I have never had this happen before. I did take her to the Vet and she did get AB's as a precautionary measure. And I have never had this happen in a bitch like yours that hasnt had puppies.

Don't tell them and have the car professionally cleaned inside before you return it.

This has already been well noted, so why bother bringing it up again? The OP has asked for advice, and whether the pups are pedigree or mongrel makes no difference at this stage. The deed is done and someone is asking for help. In an ideal world, these pups would not be on the way, but they are, so get over it. The snobbery and bitchiness of some people on here simply amazes me. Julie Oh right....everyone can tell a person looking for a designer dog to nick off but when the byb comes back for advice you help them.....what are you going to do in 6 mths time when the bitch is pregnant again, help her again.....I agree with RSG, go to the vet and pay for the advice. This is an exclusive breeders forum not a Back yard breeder forum.

This forum is for Purebred dogs....this is a mongrel.

Ok.

Is she sure that at 4 mths he had 2 testicles? Sounds to me that he still has an undescended testicle as a desexed dog cant tie outside as it sounds like he is doing.

Jed Why? Who, how and when will they be taken away? I think you are underestimating the Environmental Imperative that is now facing us. All animals, great and small, must become sacrosanct. P. Search the forum for all the PETA discussions.....thats Why?

Same same...warning when wearing crocks....specially when ya land on a food bowl, and squash the bowl. ;)
-
Do you know whos Pug?
-
I too agree with Jed and Sheridan but will add for some breeders it is All about the money which is the detrement of the breed.
-
As a Pug breeder we only use Canvac....less reactions...our Vet does carry both though.

Your Experience With Registered Breeders
Shazzapug replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know this is a thread about breeders and puppy buyer experiences....but from a breeder point of view I think it is important that word gets around via word of mouth if the experience by all is a good one. For example I recently rehomed a male fawn pug to an already pugged mature couple because they came highly reccommended by the breeder of their first Pug. I hadnt thought of rehoming this dog, but it was a home no sane Pug would refuse. He has been there for just over a month now and had his first Brighton beach experience....he met a nearly 4 yr old Black pug, started playing....the slaves got talking and the Black pug was from my 2nd Black litter and I remember the lovely dads as soon as she said his pet name. So my point is go where the breed hangs out that you want and talk to the people and find out where they got their dogs from. Eg. If you want a pug go down to Elstenwick Park on a sunday morning and watch all the pugs running off leash and talk to all the crazy Pug slaves. I think we rely on the internet too much. -
Our vet supplies their rural customers with intravenous Vit C and teaches them how to administer it. It must be given very slowly into a vein and can buy you up to a couple of hours with a snake bite to give you time to get to the vet. Apparently it does work, but not as well, if given into a muscle in an emergency but it will cause painful damage to the muscle it is injected into. Regular breeder clients get accounts so don't have to put up the money for anti-venene straight away but casual clients do. If they are having trouble working out if they can afford it the vet will administer the Vit C to give them more time to decide. Occasionally the Vit C alone will work if the dog has only gotten a very small amount of venom in it's system. I will look into that thankyou. We have Tiger snakes, Copper heads, Red bellys and the occasional Brown. There has been a few dead on the road lately here so they are definately out and about.

Thanks for this thread as sad as it is for the poor OP Husky. My vet is 45 mins away and would not hesitate to administer anti venom but I am afraid it would be too long a drive.....so this thread has prompted me to ring our local vet who charges 3 times the $'s than my Bendigo vet but I now need to find out what their procedure would be if I needed anti venom for one of the pugs.

As A Breeder, Are You Running A Business?
Shazzapug replied to Puppoochi's topic in Breeders Community
If I was a business I would be out of business....but I breed for myself, for the betterment of the breed, to carry on the breed and to compete in conformation shows. I only advertise on my website, no where else, if I have puppies or adults to rehome. Lately I have had more phonecalls about puppies than emails which is a nice change.
