  1. OK, so we have a litter of 4 ACD pups, 2 boys and 2 girls, 10 weeks old today... We are probably keeping one of the boys, but we cant agree on which one ... The 1 my hubby wants is a very heavy, solid little guy. Hes considerably bigger than his brother, although he is balanced. The other boy is also nicely balanced but he is just more moderate than his brother and he's the one I prefer. Both boys weighed 5kgs when they were vaccinated at 8 weeks, despite the heavier one looking a lot bigger and heavier than his brother ... So my question is to those breeders who have possibly kept a heavier pup from the litter, was he/she too heavy as an adult ??? Did he/she level out as an adult into a nice size, or did he/she end up being pet homed, because of his size ??? For those who have had a bigger, heavier pup, and sold it as a pet, were you able to follow it up and did he/she stay heavy ??? Im just wondering, because we have had to rehome a few dogs this year, and I am just not wanting to show this boy, and find out down the line that hes just too heavy, so another older dog needing to find a lovely forever home ... Thoughts ???
  2. As with a lot of others, I had been watching this thread with trepidation, hoping for a good outcome, but it wasnt to be ... RIP Willow, and heart-felt condolances to all involved with her...
  3. I just recently heard of a GSD bitch that did just this... Res Ch Bitch, RUBOB, RUBIG, RUBIS, and she only needed 1 point to gain her title ;) ... True story, although it happened many, many years ago...
  4. Shaar, I think we all do enough driving getting between L'ton and Hobart, and all the others up north, but yep compared to some of the huge amounts of driving some do, ours is just a little day trip ... We lived in the NT many years ago, and that is really long driving to get to the shows. We lived in Tennant Creek, so getting to the Alice, or Darwin was definately a 'packed lunch' trip ;) ;) ;) ...
  5. Tassie, Ive told you before you must make showing the little big man a priority over Kirra's Agility ;) ... Only joshing !!!
  6. Yep please come and bunk with us ... Mmmm yes a carsick puppy over a double show weekend, with a 2 hr drive, times 2 is.........................................................YUK ;) ... Chocolate muffins will go down very well ... Will put my thinking cap on about what we will bring too... Must be something sweet though, wont it !!! Having 4 ACD babies, (they will be 9 1/2 weeks old), are enough to cope with, so no swapping...................................................EXCEPT if you take all 4, and I just get Nova... Yeah that sounds a greateat idea ;) ...
  7. ME, ME, ME, ME ... Are you coming both days ??? You are more than welcome to bunk in with us, if you like ??? We will have our ACD babies with us, so I will swap a 'eeler cuddle for a Wottie cuddle ETA The Basenji's will be there too, of course...
  8. A 3 page Telecom bill right down the middle, in a nearly perfectly straight line... Of course she ate the side that stated what we owed ...
  9. No, no Lappies being shown in Tassie at all. In fact I dont think I have ever seen one in the Tassie rings ... There are Aussies at most shows, usually Pointers and always Corgi's as well...
  10. Why doesnt your Mum organise another day for the pup to fly, therefore going back to the original plan of the breeder dropping the pup at the Airport ... Sounds soooo easy ...
  11. Yaaaaaaaaaay well done, I knew I wouldnt be able to find it ...
  12. Thank you so much for that Saffioraire, I will do a hunt for it ... It sounds really interesting, and I know that anything from Patricia McConnell is usually a good thing, at least it is on the Basenji Forum Im a member of... Hopefully someon will come in and put both our poor 'elderly' minds at ease with a linky to it ... Mmmm perhaps I really shouldnt be making that sort of assumption on you, (the elderly bit :D ), but it definately is for me, cos I cant find the blasted thing. I know I put it in the dog info section on my computer, but I just cant find it ...
  13. Does anyone know who the Cattle Dog was that went RUBIS please ??? Ooops I should have finished reading the whole thread before posting... Well done to Titan's RUBIS, lovely boy indeed...
  14. I thought it was 7 experiences at the 7 week mark ??? I have 6 week, and 5 day old ACD's at the moment, and from what I can remember from my research last yr, this is what it was... Well at least thats what I did, and Im very happy with the temp's of that litter of 6 Basenji's. They were lovely and bold, and their nearly adult temperaments are all wonderful.... Sorry I cant help in pointing the article to you... By the way, its funny how this has come up now, was talking to a breeder just this am, about this ;) ...
  15. These are wonderful, so clever... I will let you know what is used ...
  16. mini girl these are Australian Cattle Dogs ;) , but it was a good idea, just wouldnt work for me !!!
  17. FB tells me that one of Tracy Hessenberger's babies was Baby in Show, with their dogs also placing in other classes... Lanbart Kennels...
  18. You guys are just soooo clever ... I would never have been able to think of any of these names at all. Im just a dunce when it comes to names...
  19. Some absolutely fantastic ones here ... Im giggling about some, and am cheeky enough to want to put some of these in as my first choice ;) ... Please keep them coming...
  20. Loooooove that one ... I need 2 boys ones and 2 girls ones...
  21. I have 6 1/2 week old ACD pups... I need to have names that are associated with this being a whoops litter... The only one I can think of is 'prefix Oops Done Did It Again'... TIA
  22. yes, Dora only landed in Tassie at 6pm on Monday so it's been a big few days for her. She was a bit feral apparently first up in the ring but settled by the time grp came around and showed much better. :D I watched her today, and she was absolutely gorgeous in the ring, she had a ball, so happy... I think she thought everyone was there to look at her !!! The handler enjoyed a HUGE round of applause when she was awarded baby of breed, and Ive never seen him look so exhausted coming out of the ring ...
  23. espinay2 thank you very much for that detailed response, I for 1 have really been interested in your way of dealing with it Fynesse I wish you all the luck in the world, with getting his pain etc, under control ...
  24. I dont want to be seen as 'bagging out' the breed, but isnt their a thing called Cocker Rage Syndrome/Disease ??? Is that what the article that sandgrubber posted is aluding too ???
