  1. Must admit I agree with Pebbles, I dont like to get my dogs/bitches operated on unless its really necessary, just not worth the risk. In all my years of breeding and owning dogs I have never had an unwanted litter, just a matter of keeping an eye on things and knowing what your dogs are capable of
  2. Very sad, but Chows are very popular in the states, there are so many of them there. As with any popular breed people just breed anything to anything and thats where u get temperament problems. It's like APBT there, it's not the breed just the people who breed them, most are BYB with no thoughts other then the money side of it.
  3. Does anyone here feed Rufus and Coco super skin and coat powder? I saw it at the Chemist today and wondered if it was any good. It says that its good for healthy skin and a gleaming coat or feathers. It contains molasses, omega3 fatty acid and a blend of proteins, vitamins and minerals.
  4. Yep looks just like mine lol. BTW love the dog, wanna swap for a silky
  5. I thought it was green paint? Cant remember what the name is of the other green soft stuff, all we got here is brown crispy stuff on the ground.Didnt realise at first but now I see you're just up the road from me, that green stuff sure went brown fast didnt it.
  6. Oh ish can I have the puppy laying down,, its sooooooooo cute
  7. Ive got 3 of them,, I put 2 together and they make a great pen to let the puppies run in, not sure about the cable ties though, mine tend to chew through them and let themselves out I had a hard time putting those springy wires on them
  8. She looked like she was a lovely "little" dog. Always hard to lose them but they leave us with so many wonderful memories that no one can take away. RIP little girl, play with all the other silkys over the rainbow bridge.
  9. My papillon gets hot spots now and then, as soon as I see it I put Rawleighs Salve on it, it's usually gone next day. Wonderful stuff that, I use it on all sorts of things, human and dog. Great for cracked hands too.
  10. Thank you for the HUGE bags of gazettes etc Guess what? I found some more gazettes ;) Not as many as the last lot I sent you though. You got any idea how long it took to bag them, think I read through them all again Not showing now until Ballarat in February.
  11. We talked to the vet today, there were no cases of KC at the practise so he thinks (hopes) it may be a secondary infection from the grass seed operation. The sheltie is now on antibiotics and cough medicine which seems to be helping, the cough is nowhere near as bad as it was. The sheltie is vaccinated for KC and the border collie and papillon are going nowhere near the puppies now. The vet said it usually takes about 10 days for the cough to start so will keep my fingers crossed. There are no shows till February for us anyway so we wont be missing any.
  12. Not sure if there had been cases of KC there but will ask all the questions tomorrow when I ring, I was mainly concerned about the 2 week old puppies. Iv'e never had a case of KC here and was just wondering how long before they start coughing after they come into contact with it.
  13. I have a few questions about kennel cough. Our sheltie seems to have come down with it since being at the vet Christmas Eve with a grass seed up his nostril. How long does it take for the dog to start coughing after coming into contact with it? I have a litter of 2 week old puppies here and although the sheltie hasnt actually come into contact with them he does walk past them (about 3feet away) I have given him cough medicine until I can get him to the vet tomorrow and he will be isolated as much as I can, but he is inside with my border collie and papillon. I have nowhere else to put him, dont want to put him up the kennels incase all the silkys get it as well. What are my chances of the pups not getting it?
  14. I use a mixture of cement and sump oil. Just a small bit on the ear, then I put baby powder on it. Works well with my sheltie, with the silkys I tape them up with stiff masking tape.
  15. Ok will bring them then, once I dust them off and get rid of any creepy crawlies lol. Thank you BB jr, see you there.
  16. Sway I have heaps of old Vic Dog Gazettes, do you want them? They go back to about 1980's I think.
  17. I love the sunshine coast. Always thought you Queenslanders were willing to share lol. Seems like you are getting all the rain and us down south are missing out. So bad here we havent been able to use outside water at all for years now. Sorry bit off topic but good luck at the vets.
  18. It's not the grass seeds that you put down to make a lawn, it's the actual seeds that grass makes. Oh and while I think of it, send some of that rain down to us here will you? It's incredably dry here.
  19. We have a problem with what I call spear grass, it's pointed at one end and has spikes on it as it lengthens, nasty little buggers they are, I'm forever mowing the grass in the dog runs because at this time of year it goes to seed regardless of how long the grass is.
  20. Sounds like an infection of some sort, could be grass seed as mentioned before. Think the vet is a good idea at this stage. Grass seeds are very common here and usually dont show up till its too late and a trip to the vet is necessary.
  21. Could he have been bitten by something? Does it seem itchy at all? Have you checked his gums for absecces (sp) There might even be a small fragment of bone stuck between his teeth.
  22. Well Iv'e used Rawleighs on everything from horses, dogs, cats, kids and myself. Personally I wouldn't use anything else, it's amazing!
  23. I use it for open sores, in fact I stick it on everything, myself included . I get cracks in my hands and find if I put it on at night by morning its nearly healed. It is sold through a Rawleighs distributer, I get mine at markets, lasts for years, you could look in the phone book or try health food places.
  24. I own an old papillon who gets hot spots as soon as the weather warms up. As soon as I see her start to scratch one spot continually I apply Rawleighs Salve, it stops the itch and breaks the itching cycle, works well even though it smells a bit.
