Getting A Dog Through Private Rehoming

I read that to say the rottie was around a year old when the owner left it with the parents? if so ..that PUPPY then matured into a powerful dog , and perhaps the aggression was there all along..and became stronger with the onset of maturity. there are a lot of people who breed rotties (and other breeds) without consideration to temperament. They have a stream of buyers who want "macho" dogs ..NOW ..and so size etc is paramount. Unfortunately too, health problems can cause aggression ... and obviously I have no idea if that rottie was thoroughly checked. pain, tumours- all sorts can show as aggression -
It would be lovely if the dogs had a smaller separate area ..it could be quite large.. with proper secure fencing ..then they could appreciate time on the 2 acres with their family :)

"cue music * "hopelessly addicted to youooooo * another app ...more time spent playing ...........

a skin scraping can be done to check for fungal infection/parasites .. if you are worried- and you obviously are - get a vet to look at it :) We have not seen it/smelt it/felt it ................... so it is all total guesswork. I am not one to treat something unless I know exactly what it is ....in case it gets worse , or just doesn't go away quick enough ;) edit . Ok ..where is the problem area?

the licker needs to be distracted /corrected ... my guess is that it could become a real obsession ...

Not unless an owner is experienced in setting one up ..and very experienced in the psychology of pups& chains . I would never recommend this in a suburban setting , especially for a youngster prone to escaping behaviours . Seems a recipe for a downslide . (and yes, I have many years experience with chained dogs ) .

Thank you BC Crazy ..I love that as well .... :)

Why not ? I have taken dogs from ads- checked them out thoroughly ..spoken with owners on more than one occasion - if people love their dog ,and HAVE to rehome ...there is much room for discussion and decision :) -
behind his front legs?Sorry, I'm having trouble understanding exactly where does he wear a harness?

View this link if you will ... it is lovely, but may necessitate the use of tissues. LINK

as stated , it is for dry skin .... and will be licked off ;)

thinking.... where is this spot he scratches? it is just in front of his sheath ..around his 'belly button' If so .. it may be irritation from urine . Do you leave the hair on his sheath long so liquid can drain off properly?

and TOXIC to dogs. I would also suggest a vet visit first- mention that you are thinking fungal ..and get a diagnosis before making treatment plans :)

OK :) That's better . She will be safer with the proof of pedigree :)
-
sensible advice agree here ... it may be fine , until she gets a fright .. or something ....

There's a difference between having a dog that's registered with a council and having a pedigree/registered dog from a registered breeder. yes! Does she have a pedigree ? Unfortunately , if she is picked up /puts a foot wrong, she could be in big trouble
-
the gate needs to be HIGH . Each time a dog jumps/burrows out - the reward is there..and next time the dog will try harder .. So - it is up to us to set our dog up for 'good behaviour" :) make it physically impossible ; (my 2 C worth)
-
...yes..and make very very sure she is registered as a purebred amstaff, and that you have her pedigree etc as proof .
-
it could well be irritation caused by teh scratching ..loose skin/a bit of blood? Got a photo?

..oops... a strong smart pup - not enough to occupy her ... and having learned how to ..... now she has learned .. not much will deter her - it will just make her work harder! You may have to change your management .. 'feed her indoors- teach her to toilet on command - obtain a very secure run - do more brainwork with her in the form of short and frequent obedience/trick training - and , if you are unsure , get advice on how to teach her to lie calmly with you indoors ... have you had a puppy before? fencing needs to be very strong and high and deep before puppy learns to escape ... it is your responsibility to puppy proof a yard/house - pups do not know ... dog runs can be built ..or portable ones used . one will need to be large enough..floored and roofed to keep her safe ..have room for her to get out of the weather ..and to be able to play with toys and not lie in a toilet zone ....

Bigger is not always better ;) unless they have the same parents ,and have had exactly the same upbringing... why expect them to be the same sizes?
