  1. Brown puddles ... is relatively good... just make sure his poo is 'normal' over the next day or so!!! Often ,even with a solid mass of bone or whatever stuck..liquid faeces can still get past. When I was working at the vets..we had dogs come in "with diarrhoea"...whereas they were actually very constipated...was only liquid passing..solids were still stuck ;) You may want to give him some metamucil or psyllium whenever he has a lot of bone...that , and heaps to drink.
  2. Dog teeth on human skin in any form is not allowed in this household ! The more you excite a pup, by playing tug/chasey etc, the more likely it is(IMO) to forget the rules, and nip/mouth. I would also recommend KONGS/treatballs full of food, with some treats as well..that way she can mouth/play with it, AND get food, too
  3. Just found this.... weird, and sad does sound like something neurological...not due to the cold, IMO. Poor little things.
  4. Not allowing her dog to eat what it is designed to eat is unfair on the dog. The dog doesn't hold her views..it cannot It may survive... but will not be as happy or healthy, methinks . Show her this thread
  5. Hi... So..she jumps up when SHE wants attention? SMART COOKIE!! You need to start being the boss/es. Don't give her cuddles etc EXCEPT when YOU call her to you. Don't allow her to jump onto the furniture anytime she desires...only when YOU call her. If she does it otherwise, push her away..get up , or turn away WITHOUT speaking. This denies her attention(reward) for her pushy behaviour!! When you call her, offer a treat, maybe...then when she comes, praise her cuddle her, whatever she loves!
  6. Not the news I was hoping to see. poor dog.. *fingers crossed*
  7. Hi...Glad you found stuff she enjoys , and which is better for her ! Whole chicken frames(carcases) can be bought at supermarkets... don't need to be minced. because she's a DOG, not a human, and dogs metabolise things far differently to humans. There are quite a few foods/substances which humans can safely take, but not dogs.
  8. hi. I second what tess32 said. You realise that you now have to post pics of him, don't you?
  9. To the OP..The continued vomiting is a worry... she may have an irritated throat from tubes..or something else.
  10. *nods* "a Good Google" has that replaced "a cup of tea, a bex, and a good lie down" ? Lucy's Run ...Google is your friend! A confusing and know-it all one, but your friend
  11. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...351&hl=BARF read here BARF =bones and raw food/biologically appropriate raw food and, NO, not lots of veg................. lots of MEAT/BONE and some veg.
  12. Hi... You are obviously wrapped around her little paw She doesn't need cooked food at all She also doesn't need rice and pasta....or very much vegetable Dogs do very well on raw food, and enjoy food which they have to chew and 'work' at to get a full tummy. Why do you cut her food up? She is a fit healthy dog, she can chew large chunks of meat quite wel, I'm sure! She sounds very much loved, but remember, she is a dog. Have a read here There are recipes for raw food...need some preparation, but no cooking. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...351&hl=BARF
  13. Ci... thinking of you. sorry
  14. Working (farm bred) dogs are often working part time by around 4 months....when they have had enough, they will stop..... and sleep for a little while...then start again . I believe walking on hard surfaces should be avoided at a young age.....but running on sand /grass is ok ..provided they are not 'forced'
  15. No way should it be touched. Spores can be transmitted on clothing, shoes, combs, collar/leads.....
  16. this is the perfect time to teach down-stays, and all sorts of little 'good manners things' like waiting at doors, not jumping on furniiture... enjoy the enforced training time!
  17. keeping bitches quiet is suggested for a very good reason!! The midline incision line is under a lot of pressure..and if it is weakened and sutures break..there is a real risk of abdominal organs being exposed. Not nice. A spey is a total hysterectomy.......... ! How hard is it really to keep your bitch confined to a room, or on leash for 7 days???????? Not very,if you are consistent. Weakening of sutures and tearing of skin may not happen often...but it DOES, and is unpleasant and sometimes dangerous. The vet does not recommend it just because they can........... it is to allow the body the best environment for a total and rapid fusion of tissue,a smooth scarline, and less risk to the bitch. written from the POV of someone who has seen the results of stitches giving way... not a good outcome. Most dogs don't get that much exercise when they are FIT... personally I think it would be excessive for a post op bitch !
  18. Hi Your dog does seem to be getting a lot of food , mothers are like that...feed,feed... anyway..briefly..have a read here! http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...351&hl=BARF There are lots of ways to feed..but a lot feed raw food, which can be made ahead, and is VERY healthy for your dog. I don't know personally what the cost would be..but wouldn't think it waay expensive. best of luck
  19. This boy had such a gorgeous face..I have been playing with that photo quite a bit...hope you don't mind, pandii... :0 here is the latest
  20. sorry... if she is reluctant to use it..then why not have it xrayed BEFORE she starts weight-bearing on ? I would worry about causing more damage.
