  1. Sue--thinking of you in this hard hard time-- I have lost a 17 yr old, PTS way and Ive lost my man. The pain seems the same -for a shorter duration-lots of folk just don't understand we LOVE our dogs and they've loved back and this is the basis for another type of devotion that is special. Even tho the current dogs love me too I still recall old Shan--17 yr old Toy Poodle and from my viewpoint some 8 yrs later, I can say a lump still comes, but I see him as the agile strong (large TP) ball retriever he epitomised for so many years, jumping in the car w his dad to go get Sat am paper down town--, even with barks and rushes back and forth to the door, our calendar reading kiddo was telling dad "Hey!it is Sat come on"!! My lasting deep pang is of regret I let him live a bit too long, but he knew I was the one hugging him and whispering through tears,as I did years later with Bob, "I love you ,bye for now but I'll see you one day soon"--as he slipped away I'm not helping its your gut decision really-- Not much help, but will pray for you dear friend and the beloved one!
  2. Isaviz That is beautiful Diane So sorry, and the friend who lost her--I can empathise,as my late old Dad had his toy poodle (gift from me)mauled on her own front yard by three much bigger black loose dogs and die, nine yrs and blind from PRA, poor thing- Been his 24/7 companion most of the 7 years since Mum had died. I still have his distraught words ringing in my ears whenever I hear of another elderly person suffering a similar loss. Please pass on my sincere condolences, what can one say to comfort him
  3. Happy memories, Chris Hug and cherish Tyra
  4. Hugs to you and the beautiful Tyra ,Chris Love Val xxoo
  5. I like the juice when I do an apple, an orange , a stick of celery and and a carrot together--PEW try it --truly its very good first thing in the morning. , My grandie tells me I should also add a bit of beetroot juice ,.seems it has good properties too--but I cannot quite come at RED juice in a glass-- I prefer to get mine on the salad roll OOps meant to add , I use the food processor and no sign of the vegies being undigested by the poodles and German girl at all.
  6. My vet always recommends about 4-5 days on a bland diet for any blood in stools, and of course does a check for any temperature or other signs of illness. I recently had a family puppy on this for about 5 days as we thought she had eaten some tan bark and knew a foolish visitor had given her a sausage roll (she was 6 weeks old) and she passed blood. in very squishy motions. Its a VERY temporary diet and might be too messy and costly for the larger breeds, but I've had it cure up tummy troubles in my dogs many times over the years. You simply simmercut up pieces of chicken breast meat with rice, so there's no fat, do rice on the way and toss in chicken for about 5 mins, cook all lightly--and the dog eats this light food 2-3 times a day. They get hungry -but the trick is nothing else to eat at all ,and when the stool is normal, begin to add more and more of the staple food ,less light diet--say over 36 hrs, till all is back to normal.
  7. I worm myself twice annually too. Dogs are done three monthly--I guess its precautionary a s I cannot stand the idea of catching any, tho dogs never seem to show the little b******S Woudn't like to take canine tabs tho EEWW!!
  8. Darken the room--his and yours Close all doors, sound proof the bedroom.?? Wear him out, or give him a whisky before bed?? Pigs ears, a clock ticking in a blankie, his own teddy to snuggle?? When he's fine IGNORE--Sidoney has hit the nail on the head Buy ears plugs--yours!! And the best of British to you, what al ovely pup, I am sure he's going to be great soon enough!

  13. When I prepare the mince, vitamins and vegies for my dogs I always put cold pressed olive oil over the top--just about a teaspoon over a flattened block of say 125gms mince with three vegiessquashed through it all. . I have come to this decision as the dogs all poo easier now, where just every now and then one would be trying for a long time-- and they do not have any troubles starting off. Cooked meat is all the harder, and I personally think Pal tinned is about as bad as grabbing some roadkill and mashing for a dog--and I respect dogs more than that, mine get heart start mince most days! However, the Xmas season might have made a few regularities change, maybe?? :D
  14. Sorry for the loss--happy memories and good luck with the next friend! ;) Cheers Val

So sorry Rozzie!! I searched to find a Weigelia for my new garden and when a clump of rubbish gums were taken out I discovered a small LillyPilly, which was a pleasant surprise--two of my favourites, so your darlings are being guarded by the best!!

  22. Thinking of you after also losing two poodles over the eyars, and feeling the pain. Lovely grave tribute, tho, Poodlegirl Season's best and wishing you lot s of wonderful memories!!
  23. No pack structure?? What rot!! ;) Tell that to all the dog woners who have trained a dog successfully to some sort of obedience!! It means the dog recognises the relationship with a human above their own station.Isn't that what we see the mother dog do, teach them to respect a HIGHER order rule?? What about dominance and food aggression in a litter when quite young?? Just imagined I suppose?Like my bitch bought when older still 8yrs later, trying to dominate the leader here, by ae and seniority of place--isn't that a try to take over, ie pack behaviour if undesirable? There are so many examples i just have to say--My respect for the Delta org and its work dropped very low on reading that :D

    R.i.p Leo

I am so sorry and hope in time it will get easier to bear, with the long years of happy memories. The end has to come and it's never easy, but when a loved pet goes may it always be without too much suffering .Hugs
