  1. Can your client take the dog to the RSPCA (o something simliar down there) as i believe they are cheaper? I am sure i have seen others posts on people that can help with vet fees, etc..
  2. Well thanks everyone for your good advice, hubby and i walked the girls last night, he took one and i took two, and while we were walking we were taking notice of what they were doing, i have worked out that if Miss Charlotte (who is the easiest of our three so laid back and soft), is on the outside of Miss Molly (and Miss Molly is near my leg) it keeps her in line, she doesn't try pulling and snifing everywhere ( and she is the strongest of the three) and i also shortened the leads. So this morning been very brave ( oh and trying to drop some kilo's) after hubby left for walk i thought why not and so i took them all for a walk, i started out at a decent pace, Miss Charlotte and Miss Molly on one side and Miss Sophie on the other side, AND i loved it, we had to stop a couple of times but there was no pulling and going nuts, i think it was my mood also that help, i felt like i commanded their attention and their behaviour improved so much, (does that make sense)... Must say i will be now known as the crazy dog lady of (insert suburd here) as half way through our walked it started pouring with rain, but guess what it didn't faze me as i was having a ball, and i am sure the three girls were too... (Not saying it will always go as smoothly but it is a great start, will get hubby to walk with me again tonight just to help reinforce the good behaviour.)
  3. I have three cavaliers, and would love to be able to walk them all at the same time, but they go nuts crossing over in front, behind me and pulling in different directions. Now when i walk them one at a time they walk quite well and stay beside me, how can i teach them to all walk with me??
  4. OOps i should have said Miss Molly is 2 years old, she had her first yearly. I was going to get her a heartworm injection also, i did get one of my girls her yearly (it was her first) and she also had a heartworm injections..... Why don't all vets tell you about the side effects, (doctors have too)..
  5. My miss Molly is due for her year vaccination, but after reading a few topics on here and information on the net and from other people, (it is all so conflicting) i am unsure as to weather i should have her done.. What is a titre test and should i have this done before i decide weather to get her, her yearly vac???
  6. Are you sure you haven't taught her not to wee in front of you? Plenty of people do by buggering up their aversives, and then they wonder why their dog is "sneaky". I agree with Poodlefan that it's tether time, and it's also stubborn time. No point saying "she won't wee" outside, you have to outstubborn the dog. After meals, waking and playing dog goes out until it wees and then you throw a liver party. If that means you sit in a garden chair for an hour, that's what it means. Just don't eyeball her, no-one likes to go in front of someone else staring at them. So, your OH may in fact be the soft one - waiting outside isn't fun, but if you don't have the patience for it you pay in wet beds. This is how i taught my girls to the toliet before bed time, i can remember hubby, calling out after about 30minutes, (sometimes longer), are you still awake out there, and other comments.. But it works and now before bed all three go outside i say toilet and they do..whoo hoo, told hubby i could do it..
  7. Gosh i wish i knew this before Miss Sophie, chewed two sides of my antqiue cupboard and one leg on all six of my dining chairs... Oh well i know now..
  8. Hi lilBailey, We didn't get a new one, we have a sunroom attached to the back of our house and we have always had a doggie door on the screen door, to allow the girls out, but we would have to let them out of the back wooden door, so hubby put a doggie door in so they can let themselves out of the wooden back door and then out of the sunroom door. But only one is using the new doggie door..
  9. Hubby has just put in another doggie door, but two of our girls will not use it. We have one that they use with no hassles, but they wont use the new one, they just sit on the other side looking in. One is using it but i can't get the other two to use it, i have tried treats. etc.. but nothing.. Do i just leave them out there until they get it, or do i open the door like i normally would to let them in? Hubby put it in on Saturday, when we put the first one in (12 months ago) they were using it with in minutes...
  10. One of my cavalier's can't eat egg, as soon as it is down it's back up again, my other two have no trouble eating eggs..
  11. ooops relied while i was in the link... I have just started to add apple cider vingar to my girls water and will contuine to do so for the next two weeks to see if that makes a difference to my flea trouble...
  12. I have just started to add apple cider vinger to my girls water and will contuine to do this for the next two weeks to see if it make a difference to my flea troubles...
  13. Sorry maybe i shouldn't have posted that post, i don't wish to worry you, i am sure your little girl will be fine...
  14. I must say when i picked my girl up the same day she was desexed, she was a mess, and looked terrible it broke my heart what i had put her through. And my breeder was surprised that i picked her up the same day as her girls have always stayed over night, and i think that is how i will go next time.. I can still picture how she looked at that was 1 and half years ago..
  15. Thats good news, I think an important thing we have to remember is that our OH can not read our minds and when we have an issue with something we need to talk about it.
  16. Well i am really lucky, my OH will clean dog poo and wee (when he gets home before me) if one of the girls have had an accident in the house while we have been at work. Also it's our money so we both pay for treats and toys, i started with one cavalier, and said to my OH i would like another so then i got my second and then i said i would love a tri (others were two blenhiems) so now i have three. We both work and if and when they might need major vet treatment he has said he would pay for it, he never had animals in the house when he grew up now we have three cavaliers on the bed with us most nights and they share our couch. He loves and adores them as much as me, but he knows they are mine and this doesn't bother him... Miss Molly P.S I shall have to give him a huge hug and a thank you when we both are home tonight as i am certainly a lucky one.
  17. My cavalier has a luxating patella, and i have seen 3 vets as i wanted what was best for her, hers was caused by an accident and after the first week she had stopped limping, and i havent seen her limp or hold it up for months, so when she went back to the vets for her needles and the vet once again said she needed an operation, i contacted her breeder and filled her in on all the details, and we then took her to the breeders vet (after all she has been seeing the same vet for years and has complete faith in her vet) and he said, that at this stage we should leave it, (as it is becoming more popular to leave the leg alone in smaller breeds of dogs) as it isn't bothering her and she is not limping or favoring the leg at all, of course i have to watch her weight, he said it could become a problem then she will need an operation, one thing he did say is she will have arthritis when she is older, but she would also have arthritis with an operation. Sorry for the long post.. Mollys mum
  18. Hi there, I have a cavalier and she is 17 months old and the vet said to me the other day she has some tartar building up, now stupid me didn't ask what he would recommend to remove this. Her diet includes kibble, barf patties, chicken necks (which i cut up) wing tips,(i also cut up) (paranoid about her choking), and maybe a pigs ear once a week.. oops also , raw egg and sardines, (smelly). What do you use? Regards Mollysmum, Charlottesmum and Sophiesmum
  19. I started reading this thread a few hours ago, and wondered how i had missed it in the past, then after a few pages i looked at the date, it was started back in 06, then i had a terrible thought that after all Ollie and his family had been through this couldn't be good that the thread had been bumped. I really was in two minds about contuining on reading it as i have been shedding tears all the way through, but i needed to find out and was praying that Ollie was ok, and i must say i was so relived to know that Ollie is still with his mum and they have had so many wonderful days together since 06.. Hang in there Ollie.... Ollie and staffyluv are such an inspiration to many.. My thoughts are with you both..
  20. Hi Settrlv, Firstly i know i was doing the wrong thing hand feeding her, i will stop this straight away. I would say the foods she gets fed more often are barf patties, chicken necks, dry food (royal canin). I feed her two meals a day instead of one, i just half her daily food into two meals. I would apreicated any help on how to get started on a plain and basic diet. I just don't like to see her not eat. I would pressume a vet can check her tonsil's... Cathy Just gave her breakfast, half a barf pattie, and she wont even go near her bowl, i have left her in with her breakfast, (in the kitchen) and have walked away...
  21. Hi there, I have a cavalier, and she is 15 months old, i and her breeders would like to see her wih a bit more weight on her. Though at times she is a very picky eater, example: this morning she turned her nose up to breakfast and at dinner time she did the same, so after about 10 minutes i sat beside her and held her bowl, ( i know the totally wrong thing to do), she is fed a diet of barf patties, chicken necks, wing tips, egg, sardines, and royal canin, this is all over a week... Would love to here how i can improve her apetite, i have heard there is some foods that can do that, but can not for the life of me remember what it is... Kidney??? Liver?? Help
