  1. GOOD Breeders are experts, they have heard of, seen all, know someone who has....will find out how what if or when...........cos they always know someone who knows someone who............GOOD breeders spend hours upon hours researching & speaking to like minded people for years upon years upon years, forever expanding their knowledge...... vets dont!!!........small scale, blinded by drugs & surgery.............cant possibly know much of the nitty gritty that breeders know, dont have time to further their knowledge.........they arent exposed, or are so close minded they wont listen to the GOOD breeders.........true story I had a show dog return to me the other week, I thought I might have put down when I saw his behaviour!!!!!!!, as I was quite sure it could only be one disasterous thing...........my greyhound guy turned up at the show I was at, and I said go over him............he was out in spine from his head to his tail, and he had tears in both his inside thighs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! eeeekkkkkk...........In 5 minutes the dog was a new dog, he then gave him injections into the rips in his thinghs, and although excruciating for a weee while the dog is now symptom free completely............all for $20 ........yes.....$20...........NO Vet would have diagnosed or been able to treat this dog, if I was a pet owner thsi dog would have gone to a main stream Vet & had test after test, scans, xrays , thousnads of $$$ later & no answer...........
  2. Many young dogs especially 6-9 months can have growth spurts, hind end can go taller than the front, going straight in the stifle & can show weakness in the patellas, of which they usually grow out of..I would be most reluctant to see surgery done on such a young dog. most Vets are not trained to know muscle/chiro procedures, and often they treat with drugs & surgery things that were not needed to be treated with such..........a good muscle guy/chiro guy would be my recomendation, often dramatic gait problems are fixed in one session.........
  3. Rice is of no nutritional value to a dog, it is something you feed very occassionally, and brown is always better than white too. High volumes of such foods build up & usually cause Canine Candida
  4. Not very long ago.........I believe it began in war time during Depression period, they swept up the old human biscuits from factories & bagged them up & sold them cheap to ppl to help feed their animals when things were tough & everything was utilised........It was discovered that it was a great idea to make money afterwards, and they develpoded it into the multi billion dollar industry it is today, and is now the very cause of so many problems for alot of dogs , ranging from Canine Candida to Aggression
  5. If you mean the hind legs, at the rear, it will likely be the glands they have there......
  6. Here is a link to Canine Candida, there are volumes of sites that address the problem........It is the reason for most dogs problems, but is never diagnosed or correctly treated.......Caused by commercial diet & allergies, sometimes antibiotic therapy etc can trigger, due to messing with the natural immune system...... The only way you will treat it properly is through a Holistic Vet..mainstream Vets will only treat the symptoms & it will ease for a while only to return.....mistakenly diagnosed as "allergy"....affects mobilty, joints & basically the entire dog..... Ringworm can be a symptom! Article on Canine Candida
  7. I wean my baby carnivores with a raw diet
  8. Are there any other symptoms? Ringworm is not that common in adult dogs, usually affects youngsters due to their immune system being immature..... It is a fungus (not actually a worm).....and they test for it by using a light.......Thsi dogs immune system is in trouble...........Vaccines & diet can be the cause I suppose she may be rampant with a yeast infection.........Canine Candida!!! That is my guess..........switch to a raw diet, eliminate all grains, rice, commercial foods, wheat, cereal, pasta...and yeast thrives on sugar too!!! Feed garlic, apple cider vinegar , kelp, Vit E, Fish Oil, Vit C daily with raw meats, offal & bones.......... autoimmune thyroiditis is another thing it may be.........
  9. If you can find Boracic Acid powder or can find a Chemist who will mix this for you (as some have it) 6 oz Isopropyl alcohol half a Tbls Boracic Acid powder 1 tsp Betadine (used to be Gentian Violet but you cnat buy it anymore either ) Grain, rice, pasta etc can cause ear infections, yeast infections & skin complaints....
  10. Yes that is a Normal bad reaction..........
  11. YES very common The Vaccination is injecting disease into your dog, if you have a C3 it is 3 diseases, C4 is 4 diseases, C5 is 5 different diseases..you can imagine what the immune system has to do to "process" this....... I find in my customers that if they have a mild reaction initially, they usually always have a reaction with any subsequent "boosters".........some increase each time in severity
  12. It is very rare! There is a high rate of problems in this area, the common denominator is they all attend the same surgery!
  13. In my breed, fussy eaters are usually suffering recurring bouts of tonsilitis- 90% of the time would be my guess, it is very common, and can be cured quite easily with an old remedy......If she has been like it since a baby, this is my prediction as to what is wrong!
  14. Combining raw & commercial is likely your problem........they should not be fed at the same sitting. Reason Raw is processed quickly, the nutirents absorbed & passes through & out the other end in a healthy dog without farts, nor soft poos...... Commercial sits in the stomach for ages..............if you put raw with it, it will alsoi sit in the stomach for ages, and causing bacterial growth & all sorts, as it isnt meant to sit in teh stomach for ages, but the fake foods make it stay there.....do you get my drift? I currently have 17 raw fed dogs that have never farted in their raw fed lives ))) True story! If they do , there is no noise & absolutley NO smell!
  15. I know a Pekingese that has no eyes, yet it still knows dam well where peoples ankles are to latch on & bite them!!! Dogs do not use their eye sight like we do, it is the lesser of the senses, their sense of smell is their strongest one...They dont go bashing into things very often, as they sense things, & smell things... I know many blind or sight impaired dogs, and they are very happy ))
  16. wonder why mine all arent then LOL There are heaps of stooopid things on the net.....dont feed grapes, sultanas, onions,BEWARE GARLIC......etc etc.........sorry, but it is all a load of crap............they fail to tell you the amounts you must feed of of it, and GARLIC IS NOT DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is the biggest aid of healing of all time........ Why anyone would feed CARNIVORES large amounts of anythging non flesh & bones is beyond me............so do not worry yourself... WARNING.....Life will kill you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. My Cavaliers are eating wing tips & sliced necks from 4-5 weeks, full necks from 6 weeks depending on how "forward " the litter is....... Dont have choking dogs here in all the years....but I do know of others dogs choking to death on a piece of kibble lodged in the wrong place
  18. Pet Talk Here are Dr Jean Dodds recent seminars held in Australia. If you vaccinate a puppy at the correct age of 8-10 weeks, and titer tested it , if it has levels it is immune, most pups dont need another vaccination...However, if a pup is done at 6 weeks it may as well not have been done at all, as it wont have any immunity as the immune system is too young........ If Protech is used there is no reason to give a 3rd shot......and then of course there are those pups/dogs that will never have any immunity no matter how many times you vaccinate it.........unless all dogs were Titered we will never know if the dog next to us is immune or not, if you get my drift........
  19. Well I was going to answer the first post & say that raw diets arent time consuming at all, but it depends on what your priorities are I guess.......... I avoid all commercial dog foods, I consider them "junk foods", and my own priority is to feed my dogs a natural raw diet free of rubbish, so as to reap the rewards of long term excellent health & Vet bills for extraordinary events only. There are issues that can affect dogs from commercial diets other than yeast infections, skin & ear probs, bad breath, dog odour, awful poo's, & so on, they can also suffer aggression/fear from abnormally high amounts of protein found in some commercial diets, they can get crook from being fed raw & dry together as dry takes abnormally long time to process so keeps the raw meats in their system abnormally long times with it, and can cause all sorts of sickness......bla bla bla.... I find raw is economical for the diet itself, and also minimal /if any, Vet bills......
  20. I think it is normal for General Vets to say such things.........weigh it up for your own personal issue..........do you want the dog to die from a tick, or spend hundreds on tick serum that causes heart problems whereby the dog will die younger anyway..... Or not use chemicals, and risk the dog lives a long life & never gets one Or innundate the dog with crap from commercial foods, vaccines, chemicals & have it die premature anyway..........usually with lots of stuff going wrong regulary cos the immune system is wrecked from it all....... Basically I dont see any win win situation.......just go with whatyou feel best for your own dog & how risky you feel it is etc.........
  21. PS Some imported brands contain ETHOXYQUIN..banned substance in Australia.......used to make RUBBER This substance causes auto immune disorders!!! Some imported brands use it, but dont label it as they dont have to..........the products arrive at their plant already laced with it, so because the actual plant didnt "add" it themselves, then it didnt happen did it!!!!!
  22. The skin being the largest organ has to do alot of work....whatever you put into your dog will come out somehow.......if you feed an amazingly healthy diet with no topical chemical products etc, you will have a dog blooming with a fully functioning immune system. If you put rubbish into a dog or it is sick internally through chemicals & vaccines , the skin is the first place it will show. Dogs usually react to grain, corn, rice, wheat etc etc etc.....they arent meant to eat it, werent designed to eat it, yet most dog foods have high quantities of it in their products
