  1. Unfortuneatley the shots are not supposed to be given together. A dog of that age should not be having vaccines ,especially since they assault the immune system & Cushings Syndrome, auto immune diseases, thyroid issues etc are said to be caused by annual vaccines!
  2. To get back on topic........I have just taken a new job Grooming at a Vet clinic, I am getting half the price of the dog, and they provide all equipment, products, water, electricity etc.....It is not as much as I would get self employed, but there are advantages
  3. There can be "issues" with feeding both. The fake food is much more difficult for the dog to process, and therefore sits in the stomach much longer than raw food does.........Some dogs get seriously sick due to the raw food staying in the gut too long & bacteria gets time to grow........salmonella etc..... That is why it is recomended that if you feed both to feed them at seperate meals....as the raw diet will be processed far more quickly & easily, while the fake foods will keep the raw in the gut too long. Hope you know what I mean LOL
  4. All reputable breeders give health guarantees up to at least 12 months of age...you will get a full refund for the puppy, and either give the puppy back or they may let you keep it, the $3000 refund will help pay for further treatments. If you have no health guarantee you can still approach the breeder for the refund.......it will need to be in writing.......if no refund is offered you can then start proceedings through the small claims court...you WILL win! Pets are commodities in the eye of the law, and they have sold you faulty goods!!! Again, the $3000 refund will help pay for treatments. In smaller breeds cutting off the ball joints the dogs can lead pretty normal lives, not so sure about larger breeds though. Ester C will be a huge help to lubricate the joint & can help regenerate damaged joints.
  5. Titers far outway a Vaccination card! It is the only proof the dog has memory cells.....It doesnt matter remotely what the levels are, purely that the dog registered a response, which is proof the dog has immunity..... A dog presenting with a Vaccination card means nothing, as some dogs can never ever get immunity no matter how many times it is injected.... As far as kennels go though they want to see Canine Cough proof & you wont get that from titer.
  6. Ester C is the best form for absorption & helps all growth & joint porblems
  7. I feed Parsley (along with other herbs) to my dogs , there are many benefits. Parsley leaves and stems are very nutritive, and can therefore be used to treat dogs with anemia. The leaves also have antiseptic properties and are helpful in treating urinary tract infections. This herb is diuretic and is therefore useful in boosting kidney function. In addition, it is a carminative herb which strengthens intestinal muscles. It is therefore effective in treating colic and flatulent dyspepsia. To feed parsley to your dog as a nutritive tonic or treat urinary or gastric disorders, try to make juice out of fresh leaves by adding water to some fresh leaves and blend them in a blender or juicer. Feed the juice directly to your dog with an empty stomach or add to his drinking water. (1 teaspoon/20 lbs of the dog's body weight). Parsley root is excellent in treating dogs with arthritis. For this purpose, a tincture (1-2 ml/30 lbs of body weight) or a strong tea of the dried or freshly grated root (1-2 teaspoon of tea) can be used. You would avoid using Parsley on a dog with kidney inflammation or Pregnant bitches.
  8. Registered breeder does not automatically mean ethical breeder or one that has a clue! The pup should have been wormed by the breeder & wouldnt require another until 3 months of age in a "normal " situation. If the pup is of such poor condition it can indicate something more serious than worms......a Vet should be the first point of call, and the damage done by the malnutrition needs to be addressed to minimise further long term damage
  9. The very reason I never vaccinate against it! Ester C tablets twice a day, and honey & crushed garlic 4-6 times a day..... If they are off their food, make a chicken broth to lap at.
  10. Ive used a number of places over the years, but have stayed with Colin Butt (user name on DOL is nicestman) Clipper Blade Sharpening
  11. The only time a Titer test is of use is when it is done after the puppy vaccinations to prove the pup has immunity.........this is a whole different thread of course..........Once a pup has immunity it has it for life, no Titer will show that, as Titers do not measure the memory cells!!! It is very frustrating for those who understand this field to watch the Veterinary/Drug folk drag their feet on this... Perhaps if someone with the time & money would just sue them to make a huge hooo haaa about misleading the pet owning public that something would finally spur them on to be honest, and re-educate in this regard.
  12. First one should never be before 8 weeks of age, the later the better......Pups done at 6 weeks of age will often contract the diseases like Parvo.Vaccines are ineffective at that age! 8-10 weeks C3 12-16 weeks C3 15 months C3 then never again.
  13. Local Vets charged $1000 on a Poodle 6 months ago, the other one was done first at the specialist centre in sydney for $2000. Depends if your Vet is up to speed on this problem or not, as many tears heal themselves without surgery.
  14. Folic should be given prior to the bitch coming in season, and throughout the pregnancy, it helps prevent midline failures & promotes max brain function in pups..........if you forget to give it just start it asap. Chemist, health food shop , supermarket stock such supplements. Rasberry Leaf I give tablet form, half a tab a day (Natures own brand), can be given all through the pregnancy & afterwards whelping also. Some supplements & natural remedies are harmful, so always research all before adminstering, an example of this is Cod Liver Oil.......it should NEVER be given to a bitch in whelp, it causes birth defects/abortion.
  15. I feed my girls my normal diet initially, that being raw chicken carcases, necks, wings, various minces, occassional fruit/veg, lamb ribs, mackeral/sardines, table scraps, offal, eggs..........I feed once a day. I add folic acid before they come into season & right through the pregnancy....rasberry leaf also. About half way they can go off food (morning sickness) I do not force feed them, I decrease the bone content, and feed softer diet, and increase offal from then on, when appetite increases again, they get a chicken neck with a soft meal, I add oats or brown rice as carbohydrate in the last trimester. If my girls are huge they get two or more small meals a day, instead of one big one.
  16. I have large litters (up to 10 pups) well above the average for the breed, and have no diet related issues, have been raw fed for 13 years now. I increase offal , Carbs, add folic, rasberry leaf pre mating & throughout & reduce bone in the last trimester or so
  17. The only thing that comes to mind as to the potential danger is if the dog contracts "Rat -Lung Worm" disease.....Havent heard of any cases recently but there were some years ago. See Here for example of symptoms
  18. Grade 2 is low & doesnt require medication.........could even be a "transient" murmur!
  19. Sorry Sheridan, but your post was very specific..........and if that is what you claim the Vet says then the Vet is wrong! To have any understanding, the dogs need to be titered a couple of weeks after they are vaccinated to PROVE they get immunity in the first place.....If you vaccinated a baby at 6 weeks & titered it at 8 weeks plus it will show zero immunity, as the immune system is too young & undeveloped to work........They MUST be first vaccinated at 8-10 weeks for it to be effective.......That is why sooooooo many baby puppies contract parvo virus despite having been injected. In most cases a pup done at 10 & 16 weeks is done for life............a pup done at 6 & 12 is not done at all. Adult titers mean nothing unless you know they had immunity from the injection in the first place....which is a rare occurence here in Australia, as Titers are not utilized here.
  20. The most use a Titer will be is if you do it about 2 weeks after a vaccination is done, this will tell you "IF" your dog has immunity from the vaccine or not, as many dogs DO NOT HAVE ANY, and so it is a pointless exercise to vaccinate at all........If your dog gets T-cells (memory cells) from the injection then the dog has them for life (around 10 years). The 3 yearly one is no different to what you have always given, the only difference is 3 instead of 1 year, and a change in price. the Distemper shot used to be human Measles Vax given to our dogs in the old days....how often do you need measles vax yourself? How often do you have Hepatitis shots yourself? Dogs that get these viruses are over vaccinated ones, ones that have been incorrectly vaccinated at 6 weeks of age, and dogs that have never had a vaccine ever.....Dogs minimally vaccinated have the strongest immune system & function correctly so are not compromised & do not suffer all the issues associated with Vaccinosis disorder ..
  21. In reference to the Vet who says dogs show low levels or no levels after 2 years, they just dont understand Titer testing or the immune system, and are probably seeing this with house dogs that never go out....There isnt any point Titer testing unless the dog has recently been vaccinated OR recently been exposed to the disease it was Titered for.........If the body has not been exposed to the Virus it will not have a response, it lies dormant til its needed (for want of a better way to explain)...while it is "dormant" it shows as low, expose the dog to parvo virus & then titer it again and it will show adequate levels, as the body needed a response to the exposure....... If the dog doesnt go to kennels, dog parks etc etc, and stays home & is never exposed to other dogs it will show low levels on a Titer........This is why I dont Titer my dogs, as it is pointless to me......
  22. 10 weeks of age they get C3 16 weeks of age they get C3 15 months of age they get C3 Never get vaccinated again.
  23. Music to my ears............Glad to hear your dogs arent victims
  24. I am very glad I dont vaccinate annually!
  25. That is a shame......a problem I have seen so many times before in Cross bred dogs, but not every owner can or will attempt the corrective surgery , and it is a very painful structural fault ! I hope your girl recovers well.
