  12. I had to return home yesterday afternoon but he was well and truely on the mend then. Just a bit lethargic but no vomiting or crying. I just spoke to Sara this morning and she said he is now waking for all his feeds and moving vigorously around the box :D
  13. I don't know why the emergency vet didn't treat her then either (my daughter took her). He just pulled off ticks and said to watch her. I had to take this beagle girl back home with me that same day. Wasn't until that night that I realised there was still ticks on her - she was checked from head to toe by 3 people and 3 more were removed. There were none on her we went over her again and again. Next morning there was the around 10 small dark brown ones that I didn't realise were paralysis ticks before they have filled up. Anyway I took her straight to my local vet and had her treated to kill anthing on her. I guess she was sleeping in bush so they had plenty of time to get onto her in various stages of their life cycle or something.
  14. Actually these were paralysis ticks - the silvery greyish sort of ones.
  15. While we are on the subject :D As some of you might know, we had a beagle escape and go missing for nearly 3 days in dense rainforesty sort of bush. Cindy was gone from around 6am Friday until Sunday afternoon. She returned with many paralysis ticks on her which were removed straight away. The vet founds some more and then we still found more later that night. She has a tick wash and then a leave in spray to make sure any were dead that were still on her. The vets wanted to give her the tick treatment but I didn't want to unless I could see some sort of early symptoms as I had been informed dogs can have a reaction to the treatment. She has been watching her like a hawk for the 3 days since but has been fine luckily. Just wondering if there are different sub species of this tick which could be the reason for her being OK despite having so many ticks on her
  16. I slept next to the box last night and the pups had a great night with regular feeding. I woke T&W boy a couple of times early on as the tri was awake and starting to feed and he was a touch lethargic until he had one teat then he went straight for a second. No vomiting only a couple of short crying period (2 mins) but that was before midnight. Will do a weighin soon Don't know what the heck has been wrong but really looking positive now Hilary
  17. My god it's all happening Congratulations to all with their litters now born
  18. Sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you for all the suggestions T&W boy has now had 4 feeds with no vomiting or crying (touch wood). We are praying he has turned the corner with whatever has been upsetting his tummy. Tri boy fabulous, with no sign of anything wrong. Both feeding around every 1.5 hrs. We were prepared to start bottle feeding as suggested by Aziah if there was any more crying and vomiting but he is OK so far. Macey has been given some Inner Health Plus in her dinner as I don't have any Protexin on hand. We will start puppy on something tomorrow. We left the poor dead puppy in the whelping box for around 20 minutes after she died. It was absolutely the right thing to do, again suggested by Aziah. She went to her several times licking her all over, etc. Really amazing to see, she would nudge and then look for movement. I swear she was watching for it. Finally she seemed to give up and we removed the puppy. We have been incredibly lucky with litters in the last 9 years with no losses - I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. First having to euthanize a perfect puppy bitch with nothing wrong with her health, then loosing the tiny baby girl that had such a feisty little spirit. Heartbreaking! Fingers crossed that our boy is on the mend and will report back in in the morning. Thanks again. Hilary
  19. Yes Aziah Macey has been on ABs but finished last night Sara said. We let him have a small feed 45 mins ago and there has been no crying and no vomit but have held him upright since then. If he vomits again and starts crying again we will use the formula just to see if it makes any difference. Strange that the tri boy hasn't developed anything yet touch wood. We are terrified that he might Thanks
  20. Boy is not bringing up lots of milk but has bouts of salivation and obviously a pain in the tum. We are keeping him upright after feeding. The tiny girl had no reserves she was so small plus the vet gave her a bit of pain killer that he didn't give to the boy which may not have helped as Sara said he wasn't sure how much to give. Clinical signs of toxic milk * Vaginitis, metritis, vulvar discharge, and polyuria-polydipsia in the bitch. * Painful teats (one or several). * Anatomical anomaly of galactophorous teat canals (following recurrent mastitis). * Purplish "cauliflower anus" in puppies. * Continuous whining of puppies. Apart from the whining there doesn't seem to be any of these signs Keep it coming - happy to get advice Thanks Hilary
  21. There is no sign of mastitis no sign of the runs but mum might be cleaning up well. Tiny has gone T&W boy brings up some frothy milk
