  3. *BUMP* Just another note to thank all of those that put their entries in over the weekend - both those that handed to me personally and for those that put them in the box at the Catalogue desk. For anybody else that is still thinking of entering.... we will still take your entries at this stage - so please get them posted by Wednesday. Thanks.
  4. Just a bump to remind everyone not to forget if you have any late entries for the Caboolture show on February 20th that I'll be taking entries tonight and tomorrow night at Durack down by Group 3 - ring 11. Thanks
  5. I got mine on Tuesday. I think they are going to be late nights for some.
  6. YW Hogz Kaffy Magee.....welcome to Qld. Hope you enjoy our shows up here. Our show in November attracted over 900 entries. It was a double show and went very well. The February show is an open and a champ and so far entries are a bit down - but with all the flooding we are thinking that people may just have a few other things on their minds at the moment. Teamsnag I will be taking entries at Durack on the weekend, or if you are posting I'd make sure you posted them by the end of this week at the latest.
  7. Where do you get your scans done ? It just cost me $150 for an ultrasound
  8. In Qld - all the breeder does is sign the back of the main register certificate as per a normal transfer. Then attach the Limited register agreement form to that....post it all in to the CCCQ or Dogs Qld with the transfer payment and then the pup is registered to the new owner on the Limited Register. I've done it just recently and I never wrote a letter saying why.
  9. Thank you for the replies. I will definately pass these details on to my co worker.
  10. URGENT A person I work with is looking at getting their little poodle x bichon dog desexed. The dog weighs under 10 kgs but they have been quoted some ridiculous prices for the procedure. Can anyone recommend any good vets in the Wynnum area that has reasonably good pricing etc (or anywhere Brisbane local would help). Thanks
  11. PLEASE NOTE - There are NO sweepstakes at our show in February. Due to the open show starting at 8 am and the champ show starting at 9 am, we could not run a sweepstakes. It was to be amended in the Dog World before publication I beleive, but it was not done unfortunately We do apologise for any confusion this matter has caused. As for entry to the showgrounds - will be the same as per November show. Through the gate on Beerburrum road - I "think" it is gate 4, the last one before where the new horse stadium is being built. And yes, the markets will also be on. Hope to see you all there !!

  13. FEBRUARY SHOW - ENTRIES ARE STILL OPEN !! If anyone still wants to enter our show, please note that we are still taking entries. There is both an Open and a Champ show on Sunday February 20th 2011 to be held at Caboolture Show Grounds. Please either post them or you can hand them in this weekend to Debbie and Jamie-Lee outside the gundog ring. Thanks n.b. Edited to remove Jason and Nadia as they will not be at the show this weekend. So if you want to give us your entries on the weekend we will gladly accept them at the Durack show.
  14. I always do this too..... we drive an hour to Durack each way so I want to know that they have my entries. I haven't received mine back yet, but always find shows that send the numbers back in the SAE dont normally arrive until the week before the show.
  15. We also tell puppy buyers to switch them over between 4 to 5 months of age.
  16. Mini Bullies Check out the above website and even send David an email. He is very helpful and knowledgable on the breed and may be able to tell you the best book to read.
  17. Dont know where in QLD you are....but I invite you to my place next time we have a huge thunderstorm and you can see the effects it has here. Our house was actually struck by lightning a few years ago now. Hit one side of the house and blew the TV, air conditioner, hot water system that were all on that side of the house. We were actually out at the time so I have no idea how the dogs reacted. So now one gets very agitated. We bring her inside where she will drool, pant, pace, whine and basically she has an anxiety attack. I'm sure she would jump inside my skin if she could. We do have sedatives for her - but I only ever give them to her if it is really really necessary. One of the others will sit at the back door and bark to come inside when there is a thunderstorm - when I let her in she settles down on the mat and is happy. Sometimes though I'll go outside into the pergola area with the others and just play catch etc to take their minds off the storm. I can't always be here when a storm hits so they do need to learn to cope themselves and I know that pandering or letting them sook to me doesnt help the anxiety. My in-laws actually had a dog that smashed through a flyscreen / open window to get inside out of a storm and when inside would go into a dark cupboard and hide until the storm had passed.
  18. As I read it you can have 1 dog on up to 599M2 lot, over 1 dog and you need a permit. Up to 2 dogs on 600m2 - 10,000M2, over 2 and you have to get a permit. What 10,000M2 100 m x 100 m? Is that about an acre? 10,001m2 and larger, you can have up to 4 dogs and then you need a permit. But the good news is you can have up to 4 sheep on 3001M2. Or 2 bee hives on only 801M2, bet the kids next door will love that! Edited to add, I can't find anything aobut dog breeders, intact dogs or related topics, can someone point me to the dog breeders regulations? Thats not really new for Caboolture Shire. Thats how its been for some time. 10,000 m2 = 2 1/2 acres

  20. I had a bitch that fractured her foot and tore her cruciate when she was barely 2 weeks pregnant. Rush to a local vet that was open - he said we had to operate and discussed all the options. I mentioned that she could be pregnant. He told me that I would probably lose the pups but the leg had to be fixed. But it was late and so he bandaged the leg for me so I could take her home for the night and to make a decision on which operation to go with. Next day I took her to my own vet for 2nd opinion.......he told me that it was best I saw an orthapedic specialist. So off I go .....explained it all to them and they splinted the leg and bandaged it and then said we would wait until the ultrasound and then make a decision after that. She had to be confined to a crate and found it hard to pee with her back leg splinted, but was otherwise happy to be inside and spoilt. Ultrasound found puppies......so surgery was postponed (and this was on advice from the specialist, as I said I would do whatever was best for my dog). When she was about 7 weeks pregnant, I came home to find the bandage smelly and I freaked out thinking her leg was going gangrene and what not, but turns out the splint had cut her hock open from rubbing and the smell was from blood on the bandage, but thankfully not the wound. Rush to vets again and they took the splint off and stapled (not even a local anesthesic for it)....but stapled the small cut together. I couldnt beleive the dog didnt yelp....OUCH !! Anyway they said we'll look at her again when the babies are born etc. but were happy with how she was getting around. Thankfully when we took her back, the specialist was happy with how her leg had healed well by itself and said they wouldnt need to operate. But I do get what you are saying Zenchel - What I would have preferred was for the vet to contact me to tell me that yes, she was in pup and her tooth was a real mess and she and her pups would be far better off if the tooth was removed immediately, with all due care taken for the pups - you just would of liked to be informed and told what was needed to fix the problem and what the outcome could be.
  21. Its about a 50 minute drive (well according to www.whereis.com.au that is).
