  1. Sounds like it is doing the rounds. I dont discount enquiries from hotmail / yahoo etc accounts....however I am very cautious of those enquiries. And the ones that have stupid email addresses as well... eg. [email protected] WELLLLLL.....you know there is some information I just dont want to know and when making enquiries some people should think about what comes up for the receiver. Off topic...but some of the doozies I've seen on job applications I think how can anybody take you seriously.
  2. I also have my catalogue as well - so if Erin cant help you, let me know.
  3. I got one tonight from a "hotmail" account..... Subject line was .....Need a pet and that was it.....the email itself was blank I replied and said ....pet what ?? Was going to offer a nice pet rock I have out the front, but was worried that it would not be given the care it deserves.....
  4. I had a bitch that used to carry one particular pup around with her in her mouth. Whenever she hopped in the whelping box she would pick him up before she sat down so that he was always next to her. If you went near the box, she would pick him straight up as though she didnt want you to touch him. At the start she would carry him to the soft crate as it would appear that is where she wanted to raise the pups....we got a really huge box and put it in the whelping box and draped a sheet over the front making her a cave and she settled down after that. But she sure did have a thing for this one pup. Edited to add - she has now just had her second litter (they are 5 1/2 weeks old) and although she has picked them up to move them so she could sit down, she has not been obsessed with any of them this time around.
  5. I keep checking back every day to see how Jed is going........and looks like a good time to stick my head in.........Potato bake.....yummmmmmm Nice poem too Mona. Thinking of you Jed.
  6. No its not the Noosa show - I do think it is called the Sunshine Coast AG show though. It was at Nambour. Not a good place to park and you had to lug all your gear to the ring. I think it was due to be on Friday 9th July.
  7. If she is a baby then I wouldnt stress too much....but practice just for a few minutes every day. We normally do it at feed time....we ask the show dogs to stand and watch and then reward with dinner. The most important thing is to get out there and have a go, the more you do it, the better you'll both get
  8. It was listed on the yearly dog show list that I print out from the CCCQ website (which often has plenty of mistakes on it) - but I havent seen anything in the Dogworld for it at all.
  9. Is that amount in Australian or American dollars ??
  10. Interestingly enough....my first chocolate labrador started to go grey around the muzzle around 14 months of age. I used to chuckle to myself when ppl would come up and say "aww how old is the old dear?" ...and watch their faces when I told them how "young" she was. She also has bolo spots and also produced them in her pups. And it wasnt uncommon for one pup in the litter to appear with a small white spot on the chest and some with white hairs on the feet. The white hairs on the feet would disappear and the spots on the chest would also all but disappear as well.
  11. From what I know entries will still be taken this week.
  12. Labrador Mismarks BOLO PADS... In 1916 the Labrador Club was formed in England with support from Lord Knutsford (Munden Kennel line) and Lady Lorna, Countess Howe (Banchory Labradors). Some chocolate labs are said to trace back to FC Banchory Night Light from the Banchory Kennel. He was a black dog born in 1932 in England. Night Light comes from the line of Dual Ch. Banchory Bolo (1915) who appears to be a carrier of the chocolate gene from Buccleuch Avon. Sh. Ch. Banchory Bolo was also known for carrying a trait of white hairs under the feet (Bolo pads). In the late 1930's Chocolate Labradors were known to be at two kennels: Tibshelfs & Cookridge. Some of these lines connect down to NFC-AFC Storm's Riptide Star from Buccleuch Avon and Banchory Bolo. Bolo Spots/Marks This is called a "Bolo spot" or bolo mark. Its named after CH. Banchory Bolo one of the early Labs who had these spots and passed them on to his get and future generations. Bolo spots are found on the back of the leg above the pad. This is NOT considered a mismark. More pictures
  13. Yes we have had it in our pups....and if you do research on it you will find it dates back to the early labs. I'll find a link for you. White marks on the chest are permissible, just not desirable. As for the Bolo spots....I tell my puppy ppl that it can be traced back to the very early Labradors and tell them the story and I never have people not buying a pup because of it. Most find the story fascinating.
  14. We have just started our litter of pups on pink slushie mushie stuff and OMG they hooked into it. So I'm off to the shops tonight to get some more mince for them...didnt think they'd take to it so quickly. They turn 3 weeks old today.
  15. What about a couple of ice cream containers over the tops of them ??
  16. Well that is some releif for the moment and hopefully something that Jed wont have to be worrying over whilst she is recovering. ;) Our thoughts are with you at this very sad time Jed.
  17. The dogs look really happy.....great photos too !!
  18. Unfortunately I dont have enough land for a couple of horses. Is it possible for someone to go to her place and feed them etc ??
  19. OMG - My OH just emailed me this news as he heard at work. Poor lady and those poor dogs Julie - glad to hear that you can organise something for her surviving animals.
  20. All of my pups that are going to pet homes go on the Limited Register. It is explained to ppl well and truly before any money changes hands, and when they pick up the puppy, they are shown the form to be signed - explained again - and forms submitted to register the pups. Main register is only by negotiation / serious discussion.
  21. I voted no CC's Australia wide - its either all or nothing IMO. We had entered a show on just last weekend. There was nothing in the dog world about no CC's for Labradors due to National being on. My entries were accepted and I honestly was none the wiser (I thought that if CC's werent on offer it would of been written in there and I wouldnt of entered at all). It was only at my breed club meeting that I found out that CC's were NOT going to be awarded. So hence I and several other people rang the club and withdrew our entries (still waiting on my refund for that I might add ) So really the club missed out on several entries for people that may have really wanted to go to the National, but just couldnt afford to, or for me I have puppies at home. Now on this subject - the weekend before we were at a show at the same grounds and not ONE of the people that were going to the National were even at that show. However I could of driven north from my home and the show that was on would of been outside the 1000 km's and thus eligible for points. I agree !!
  22. ahhh big hugs for a beautiful little man from team chocolate
  23. WAHHOOOOOOO..............Go Julie and Flynn !! :D Big licks from Ike
