  1. hmm Kja you have given me something to think about with this comment. I do want to expand my work where possible. But my style is not fast movement, landscape-y stuff and def no birds. So my thinking was if I want to capture portraiture and general people just living life would you be flicking a enormous lens out?? I know Ash partner Alex's use this lens but I did notice it's when he needs depth and his work he gets on it is insanely amazing. I will eventually buy both. But I wanted to buy better grade camera before that next lens. So this lens will be the last for awhile. I just want to get it right.
  2. LukeW I knew your answer before I read your post. I might be a bit smaller in the arms. Tess thank you I will check it out. Ash, I noticed Alex and his 70-200. I carried it in the weekend and thought, crap its big. I get sore hands from my 24-70, hence wondering if I will make use of the 70-200. If you think you would use the 85 instead of the 70-200. I might look into that then. (ps. Ash I have been feeling abit down about the weekend. I thought I didn't go as well and let you both down. )
  3. I am thinking about purchasing another lens shortly. But I am in two minds about what I want next. My want is: 85mm f/1.4 or 17-35 f2.8 or 70-200mm f/2.8 VR I was dead set on the 70-200 as it's known to be a fab lens. I held the Canon equivalent in the weekend and it was a monster heavy lens and it threw me into this two minds. Plus I know only a few of you on here have it. So does this mean realistically it's a lens you don't really use much? What really is this lens main purpose besides focal length. Is it more for action shots or bird watching? I want to get into more portraiture and photo journalism. Would the 85mm be good for this then the 70-200? I have found the fixed lenses to be so sharp. also: If I have a 24-70 - how different would a 17-35 f2.8 be? I apologies for asking too many question on lenses all the time. But I am sure you understand the money you invest in them you want to get it right.
  4. tlc, Rocco is very patient. He cracks me up as he just sat in the sheet while I cut around him. He is such a tolerant boy. But then that is the Bullmastiff for you. Thanks for peoples comments. I really think there is some great work happening this month from everybody.
  5. Great photo's people and really good to see PP experimenting. I have been slack and to busy to post images, so here are a some from the last few days. Day eight: sleeping arrangements - foolish mistake of letting him sleep on my bed as puppy and then he grew into this............ Day nine: resting - we were both exhausted from a tough week of work. Day ten: millionaire - wherever Roc and I go we always here the comment "look at the horse". A comment I absolutely hate, especially as he's not actually that big. A lady said to me once if I had a dollar for every time I heard that I would be a millionaire. I thought if we ever end up broke living in a ally we could start our own freak-show and be back on our way to riches. Day eleven: cuddles
  6. Everyones photo's are great. Lea you are doing so well. Do you have a Bouvier Des Flandres!? TLC love the pic of all your dogs on the couch. Well done. TarraNik Jedi playing doctor is so cute. OMG I love that little guy. If he didnt have so much hair I would steal him.... Clover love Harrys nose. CM beautiful composition of your B&W. Stunning. PPS beautiful photo of the girl sleeping. I would love to see the original before the effect. Darien want to swap beds.......... That is some medication you have there... I hope it's the good stuff. :D Poocow I don't think we could get sick of seeing Darcy. Huga I love your photography and PP, it's very moody and emotional. Great job. I think that is everyone, If I missed someone sorry. Great job.
  7. tlc, the two people in my pic is me and myself. My sister is over my photography. Lea great job. Bindi Happy Birthday. Any great gifts in the shape of a SLR?
  8. Huga I love it. Cool. Lea I think you do a great job at your creativeness. AM great job with the food. Early morning start for me as I have a busy day of actually doing paid work... patience vs frustration
  9. Sweet, a new challenge and one I can still participate in even witjh my new personal project. Just think you all get to look forward to 30 days of Roc and 'me'........ how exciting for you all. Dont worry I'll spare a few. TLC as Ash mentioned I am doing a challenge called "30 days of Roc and me". I have started already and you can see in my signature the link. Each photo evey day has to have both of us in it. Its heaps of fun but rather frustrating. I think go for gold with all your dogs. That will be a challenge in itself. Great to see you back too. CM I am taking my camera and tripod around to public places. Having to take the photo with myself in it and trying not to feel embarrassed. ;) I just keep telling myself it's for a good cause.
  10. diesel dog your w - wedding the log in the water!? looks like a mermaid.
  11. I had no ideaa how the husky colouring/markings change as they grow. This is Roc at 8 weeks and then 4.5 years. I miss his puppy days.
  12. Helen I like your P. That lens has a interesting effect. Very cool.
  13. Wowsa is looking soooooooooo good. What a divine handsome man he is. He is going to be enormous.
  14. Kja I am so jealous of your new little black box..... So lucky!!! I want to win lotto so I can buy the D3x.... I went to help take a photo today at persons store, she had these really fat lazy Cav's. They were just so cute and I couldn't help but snap a quick one. Texture. Just chilling. I have been inspired to do a project called "30 days of Roc and me". Take a photo everyday with us both somehow in the photo. I was thinking as Roc is approaching 5 years and my breed doesn't have a long lifetime, this was something I could make into a book and reflect back on when he is no longer with me. I wont participate in next months challenge unless I have something that relates to this. This was starting today. Texture. Walls apart.
  15. Ruth love the pup pic's, you are very talented photographer. Cordila I really like C. Very cool. Kja did you buy that toy ...... lucky thing.
  16. Texturing is really easy, I promise you. Have a read of Ash thread, very helpful and she explains it in detail. Textures
  17. Some great photo's. Sorry I don't comment on all of them as I'm lazy. But I do try and comment in flickr as it's easier. Texture today is Yellow. I try and pick up my camera at least once a day. Been too busy last few days so had to snap some quick token shots. Ralph lying in this gorgeous yellow bloom that had littered the floor of our outdoor living area.
  18. When I was switching to raw I shot in both, but all it did was use up extra space and I ended up trashing my jpegs. I love RAW and the control you get over your images.
  19. Maybe you need a Mac Pro.....
  20. CM Z is very cute. The pic it was inspired from was very cool. I find flickr incredible to look through and some inspiring work. You find some amazing work and then look at the camera used and it's some 5mp point and shoot. Really shows photography is not all about having the best gear and perfect picture. A lot more talent/creativeness to it. My texture entries. Since he is getting picked on in flickr for this one..... he might be disgusting but he is a great subject. Slinger Greetings
  21. Sorry to hear this, how annoying and expensive. Not sure what camera/lenses you have to make it worthwhile, but would it be wise to invest in insurance just on your gear to cover you for things like this?
  22. I struggle with "one" long nose let alone a bunch of fast moving "some".
  23. OK, thanks for the tip, makes sense. I will just practice more............ off to find the dog with the long hideous nose.... :D
  24. Kirsilin great angle on fast. CM - Chester paw pic is adorable. He's a awesome subject to photograph. I didn't realize how small Jamie was when you see her sitting on the vanity.
