Nice round Rivsky and have to agree great attitude from Riv Interesting that when we try and put our finger on why these rounds were special we each come back to attitude. With Scoota the more up he is the more he drives and crabs. Most of our best scores have been when he has been flatter, causing him to be in a much better heel position. Given the choice .........give me the "UP" version anyday :D -

http://www.youtube.com/watch\?v=NZtsyu1TkSs OK this is Beans and her open round at the Nationals in October . Beans, aptly named because of the yippee beans she had as a youngster, is a continual work in progress ;) has allergy and attention problems and up until recently, couldn't put an entire round together. -

Why is it that the best ones we don't seem to get on video ;) The Winner of Winners was judged by Alison Rumble from South Australia and it was just heelfree and a straight recall and yes this is a usual length round for this sort of run off. The State and Nationals this year produced some stunning work - yes Caffy and Rubystar - they are two rounds I would bottle for sure ;) Now if we could just go to the shop and ask for a bottle of heelwork and 2 SFE with fries - it would make life easy ;) -

The rounds don't have to be as good as my guys but at some point you can have a really memorable round for whatever reason. It was memorable for me because Scoota often crabs and he didn't, he was as happy as, turned on a dime and I felt if I said to him fly to the moon he would have given it his best shot. Ness - your rounds were memorable - because Ness didn't miss a position and she was on her toes and had a happy waggy tail - and yep if you could bottle that you would. The Royal is never an easy venue to trial at. So well done..... :p -
http://www.youtube.com/watch\?v=itNam20fL58 Winner of Winners round State Obedience Championships October 2009 - I am Scoota's biggest critic - but he was on fire this night. Unfortunately he missed the down just before the end - the elbows didn't go on the ground...... Will ask santa for another one just like this Anybody else got a video of some trial work they would like to bottle????

Thanks Aziah - I don't have the schedule on me - I guess there is a number in there which I could call I would have to say I don't think I would like the office job of collating all the entries and dealing with all the phone enquiries

Compared to the Perth Royal - its really expensive to enter (In Perth we get an entry ticket for every 2 dogs + one for the driver of the vehicle). I would love to be able to do online entries as you then have a record of them receiving the entry - but because we are coming from interstate - it says we have to post our entries in along with our qualification certificates (for obedience) - so the online entry option is taken away + we then have to pay the extra $8 for postal entries Can you send a stamped addressed envelope in with your entry for them to send back so that you know they have received them?

A heads up - there is a plan for an obedience and agility Show N Go on Saturday evening 6th February, 2010, so you can dust off the cobwebs prior to the Classic.
-
Yep there is :D It's been advertised in the Canine News, and yeah you'd need to become a Dogs West member to submit your entries because you need your membership number on there. Oooh that reminds me, I need to find out about my renewal, I'm pretty sure my year is up already and I haven't received anything about renewing my membership! I'd hate to get a pass and find out it's invalid cos my membership wasn't renewed ;) Goodonya Tiggy Don't leave it until the last moment to get your membership sorted All the details are in the latest K9 News. Early bird entries close before Xmas.

OOah a thread just for West Aussies Talking of the Western Classic - I need to take out a second mortgage to pay for the entries - and thats the early bird ones :D

2009 Training/title Wish List
Ptolomy replied to Ptolomy's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
The only thing not ticked off on the list is Lexi's JDX title and her doing some retrieving - she had a few months out of action due to illness - so i don't think we did too badly -
Will I get to see the vid tomorrow night? I will do a deal 6.30 in the car park tomorrow night
-
Well done DSO - you don't have to pass to be really happy with your kids and the hot weather made it even more impressive. WELL DONE :D I hope that you asked the judge for a credit on your sit stays so that you can use it next time Rubystar - I have just watched the video of your Friday night round and Ruby really was a good girl ;) Hmm - interesting that nobody wants Blaize - I wonder why Ness - I think you did the right thing pulling Ness out after she failed and a rest over Xmas break will do you the world of good and allow your batteries to recharge
-
Argh don't be misled Tiggy - she is a witch just like the rest of them and her toller scream is ear piercing
-
I saw Alex's open agility run - and yep he was motoring - I think the judge said something about the wind up his bottom Now just think how good he might have run if you had come to obedience last night instead of being a couch potato
-
One more Open Agility pass to go and Baby Beans can retire Yep she managed the distance challange and went clear - only 6 qualifiers - and we came 6th Lexi also went clear in Masters Agility This is Bean's first attempt at UD. Lots of things to work on, but I was tickled pink with her attitude

Top work Leopuppy Congratulations on the title - it sounds as if you have finally got Kinta's stays sorted As for Leo - mate you need to send your mum back to remedial handlers training - poor boy. But I bet that she doesn't make any of those mistakes again. Good luck for tonight Seita fingers crossed you can better your last two 196's Ness - for every exercise you pass you get an iced-coffee - for every one you fail you need to do 3 hours of PHd work hehehehe if ever you needed some incentive to pass - i think I have found it
-
Yes thank you Rubystar for babysitting - you certainly earned first place for that . Poor Rubystar heard the beginnings of the toller scream for the first time last night As for the downs - Hmm maybe Scoota stole them as his have returned . All I can suggest is having a look on ebay to see if you can find some, otherwise you will need to put it on the training list for next week ;) Rubystar has been very quiet but last night Ruby did some lovely attention and heelwork, but just couldn't keep those 4 feet on the ground in the SFE. Lets just say its a work in progress ..... Thanks everybody for the pats on the back

Last night Lexi finally got the last pass needed for her CDX title. Lexi is obsessed with her I-squeak and when I use it to warm her up - she comes out firing on all cylinders - it works much better than food The score wasn't great as we had a couple of little hiccups and presents and finishes are still a work in progress, but it was her attitude that I was really happy with oh and the fact that she did her stays After failing signals in the last 4 UD trials, Scoota remembered what the down signal looked like and finished 2nd with 190. Beans made her UD debut last night. She was very distracted, but what was most pleasing was that she was sooo happy for the entire round. She took the wrong jump on the second directed jumping and failed the glove - I gave direction and she never sighted glove 1 - so I moved closer to the glove and sent her when she finally locked in. The little monster got half way to the glove and then veered right and brought back glove 2 - the one she was originally fixated on.

Instructing At Obedience Clubs
Ptolomy replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Even heelwork you can make a little more interesting by putting out 4 cones in a row 5-6m apart start from cone 1 and have the dog on the side closest to the cone. Heel towards the next cone - when you get there halt so the dog is between your leg and the cone. Then heel forward to the next cone and drop the dog and finally to the last cone and stand. Then you can about turn and head down the other side of the cones repeating the process, only this time the dog doesn't have the cones to help them with straight positions. This can be done in each of the paces. You can then bring the cones a bit closer together and trying heeling by weaving in and out of the cones. Or start from cone 1 and heel up and around the first cone and back to the start and then up and around cone 2 and back to the start and up and around cone 3 and back to the start. Finding heel position is a good one to practice. Have the dog in a sit, take a couple of steps forward and call them into heel. As they progress, you can make this more and more difficult. For more advanced level stays you can get the handlers when they leave their dogs to sit on the ground, jump up and down, clap their hands, skip as they leave, -

Croydon's Obedience Trial
Ptolomy replied to leopuppy04's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I thought Margaret Deakes was retiring after the Victorian Nationals in 2008 - lovely lady somebody who really wants every competitor to pass
