  1. My poms get 1 Chicken neck each for dinner some nights, or half a chicken wing.. They are too big for them to swallow whole so they spend all night on them.
  2. Here you go the link to springers http://www.topdogs.com.au/springer.htm
  3. Why isnt the springer allowed to be used???
  4. I won a bag of Royal Canin at a show once, and I was VERY impressed with it. When you feel the kibble, you can see and feel the oils in it. Which I liked and it was great for the coats..
  5. What a great topic guys  Ok, We use a combination, due to different needs of different dogs. The Pomeranians all get Eukanuba 'Small Breed'. The German Shepherds, One of the show dogs gets fed on Pro Plan, as it keeps him firm and dryer than any other dry food. The other show dogs are fed on Pedigree Performance, which I swear by. The house dogs (all the old retired kids), and some of the kennel dogs are fed on Coprice Working Dog Formula chicken & Rice. We tried Supercoat, but all their coats went dull & they got really dry skin. Our kids dont get a lot of dry food. As their diet is 99% Barf. When they do, it is soaked, therefore it has already swollen before it hits their stomach. Here is our diet, for both ther Poms and the Shepherds. Bones for Breakfast every morning. Dinner- Monday: soaked dry food, Fresh Chicken Mince (no preservatives) & raw beef liver. Tuesday: Bones Wednesday: Soaked Dry food, Fresh Red meat (No preservatives), Sardines in oil. Thursday: Bones Friday: Soaked Dry food, Fresh Chicken Mince & Red meat mixed together (No preservatives). Saturday: One whole chicken carcass each, the Poms get a chicken wing each. Sunday: Bones This diet, combined with daily excercise works great for us There is nothing better than happy healthy dogs.
  6. I am about to start my new career as a groomer. You have all given a lovely insight into the profession Im sure its not ALL that bad?? I have been grooming & clipping show dogs for a few years & before that, I did volunteer work at a grooming salon. I havent yet had a bad experience Touch wood.
  7. Master, It's Time, Master, dear Master, the old dog said, My road has come to an end. No more can I ramble by your side Your loved and trusted friend. My eyes, once filled with joy of life, Are dimmed with age and pain. The walks we shared by field and stream Must wait for another day. You cared for me with all your heart, And I gave you my all. But now, beloved master, Another Master calls. I know you hate to let me go, But my love is yours to keep. The time has come, my dearest friend, When I need to go to sleep. Your kindness made my life a joy And you love me, this I know. Show me your love one final time And gently let me go. Master, my beloved friend, As we say our last good-bye, Know that I will be waiting For you on the other side. Then we will ramble the woods again, Walk the fields when the leaves start to fall. I'll be sitting right here by the golden gates Waiting for your call. This image is a little tribute to my girl Sapphire, her Stairway to heaven. That is her sitting in the picture.
  8. Our kids get Chicken Frames once a week. We only pay 90c per kg. We leave them in the oven with just the fan on to defrost them.. No heat... They love them! Mind you, the poms have a bit of trouble getting through one!

Dollar Save Pet Supplies, Local Butcher and Steggles. 6. have you always fed your dog this diet, or did you change over to it gradually? if yes, how did your dog react? We began on a similar diet, but with more additives, ie. calcium tablets, powders etc. Since changing totally to no additives with the BARF diet, we have had clear hips and elbows for years, and happy healthy dogs with shiny coats, happy natures, and full of life. 7. what have been the advantages and disadvantages? Advantages - Happy, healthy dogs are what everyone wants. And thats what I have. The Poms have huge shiny coats, and the shepherds have lovely shiny black, and deep shiny red. No disadvantages. 8. have you seen changes in your dog, ie. coat, energy levels? Since the Barf diet, our dogs have had gorgeous thick shiny coats, and yes, a lot of energy. But they have also had less trips to the vet. I wouldnt go without it. Kadama German Shepherds IttyBitty Pomeranians.
  10. I dont believe dogs should be on an 'all dry food' diet. I have had my shepherds and Poms on the BARF diet which i swear by. Its an all raw food diet. They get a bone for Breakfast, and raw chicken mince for dinner with rice/pasta and mixed vegies which is cooked. Otherwise, you can put spinnach, apple, celery, carrot, banana, paw paw and other vegies and fruit in the blender and make a 'slop' and we mix it through our guys dinner. They love it! Especially on the day we mix it, as we make it in bulk and store it in the freezer. They all wait in the kitchen to lick the bowl. We also give our guys chicken necks, turkey necks, chicken carcases, Beef livers, lambs hearts, all raw. They eat better than us some days i think. Kadama German Shepherds Ittybitty Pomeranians
