  13. I would like to feed my dogs rabbit, but I can't find anywhere in Qld that sells them for the pet market and the butchers sell them for up to $25 each for human consumption. I love my dogs but when they need a rabbit each that makes for a $100 dinner and until I win lotto its not happening. prefer in Brisbane area if anyone knows of a supply or even in Northern NSW as I go down to mums at Ballina a bit thanks guys, I know the Dol brains trust will be able to help me.
  14. not sure if this will help but it is information in regards to Bells Palsy in humans and it does usually correct itself and is usually cause by a virus or compression in the c=facial nerves. Causes of Bell's palsy The symptoms of Bell's palsy occur when the nerve that controls the muscles in your face becomes inflamed or compressed. The exact cause of this damage, however, is unknown. It's thought that the herpes simplex virus, which causes cold sores, may be associated with Bell's palsy. If the virus causes infection near your facial nerve, it can become swollen and inflamed. Diagnosis of Bell's palsy Your GP will ask about your symptoms and examine you. It's usually possible to diagnose Bell's palsy by looking at how your face is affected on one side. Depending on your specific symptoms, your GP may refer you to a neurologist (a doctor who specialises in identifying and treating conditions that affect the nervous system, including the brain), or an ear, nose and throat specialist. Treatment of Bell's palsy For most people, Bell's palsy gets better by itself without any treatment. If your condition is mild, your GP will usually recommend you take some self-help measures to help you recover. You may, however, need medicines or surgery if your condition is longer-term or more severe. Self-help If you have Bell's palsy, you may find it difficult to blink and close your eyelid. This means that the surface of your eye could be at risk of drying out. You can keep your eye moist by using: lubricating eye drops such as artificial tears, eye ointments or eye gels an eye patch or tape to keep your eye closed before you go to sleep Always read the patient information leaflet that comes with these products and if you have any questions, ask your pharmacist for advice. Medicines Your GP may prescribe a steroid such as prednisolone to reduce the inflammation in your facial nerve. If you have this treatment within three days of your symptoms starting, you're more likely to recover. The course of tablets is usually between seven and 10 days. Always ask your doctor for advice and read the patient information leaflet that comes with your medicine. Complementary therapies It has been suggested that acupuncture and physical therapies such as facial exercises and massage may be beneficial for Bell's palsy, but more research is needed to confirm whether these treatments are effective.
  15. thanks guys, yes mine get the turkey wings and necks as well as chicken frames. but was just not sure about the leg bones. I might try Nala on one and watch her to see how she goes as I hate throwing them out.
  16. thanks these were my thoughts too, which is why I thought I would get other opinions, and make sure I was being precious IYKWIM
  17. I bought some turkey legs the other day and boned them out for meat for the dogs, but what to do with the bones. Would you feed them to the dogs (raw of coarse) or do you think they are too hard and would splinter and cause problems. my guys normally get chicken carcases or lamb flaps and the occassion beef ribs.
  18. As per the November Dog Blog We intend to close the Costin Street office at close of business on Wednesday 1 December. That will give Staff two days (Thursday and Friday) to pack away everything to go to the new office and archive material to be stored at Durack. During that time, I will have Telstra scheduled to move the phone lines and internet connections to the new office. We have scheduled the removalists to move the office on Saturday 4 December to cause the least amount of disruption to the other three existing offices at the new premises. Staff will be in the new office on Monday to finish unpacking and to make sure that everything is working and we will reopen for business on Tuesday 7 December. During the period 1 December to 6 December there will be no phone or email access. If things go well, we may be able to offer Members full or partial services on Monday afternoon. In regards to the move, there are a couple of things to bear in mind. The postal address, PO Box 495, Fortitude Valley, the phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same. However, as alluded to previously in Dog Blog and Council Notes, only 'dogsqueensland' email addresses will remain after 1 January 2011. The major consideration at the new premises is one of Car Parking. First and foremost, I would like to still encourage all Members to come to the office to transact any business they wish to transact. Parking is limited, but there still remains the same amount of customer car parking, i.e. two places, that exist at the present office. The first space available is as you enter the gate of the new office complex; the '10 Minute' parking bay immediately to the left is for use by all four offices in the complex and this is usually empty. The second space available is under the building, straight ahead, against the back wall.
  19. Qld show schedules in here hope this helps, but yes the next one does appear to be 4/12/10
  20. I really hope that Tango and his family win this battle all the way and the council are made to pay. I cant imagine living without one of my baby's for 6 years, I think they deserve to be reimbursed for pain and suffering 100 x over the actual costs of getting there baby back shame GCC shame on you
  21. RPMgirl, I don't have any advice but if she has never been scared of storms before I would be checking with the neighbours to see if anything else happened whilst you were out. if she does not improve I would take her to the vet. can you take her for a short walk and maybe take her mind off what happened
  22. Update on the boy. Caesar has been doing really well since his 2 weeks of AB's, his urine tests look good, he is only vomiting occassionally and is eating well most of the time. He has not had follow up blood tests done yet but we will get them done in the next week or so. He has been on the k/d food since the attack and it really seems to be working for him. fingers crossed that he continues to be this healthy and happy. even the vet is surprised that he has bounced back so well after his initial tests.
  23. KM glad he has made it through the night and getting better. prayers for full recovery and back into the ring with his sisters.
  24. Thanks Sheridan, my vet seems to think that results were elivated due to infection (bladder or kidney or both) and gave him another week of AB last night and we organised to do more blood next week. He tested his urine on a stick and said it was ok, but a bit of blood in the urine. since Caesar started the AB's last week and changed over to the Hills K/D and he seems to love it. I soak it as he is pretty toothless poor boy. He is a new dog he is happy, alert and full of beans. He has not looked and acted this well since before he had his MCT removed. hoping the bloods tell us more next week as besides a bit over excess drinking and peeing he seems really good ATM.
  25. KM I have just seen this, I hope little Chase is ok prayers and hugs for you and your family skin and fur
