  1. This morning I gave my dogs Royal Canin Sensible - I am now cleaning up S**t everywhere - has anyone else had this?
  2. Harrison has just stolen the Pork Cutlet mean for my dinner & eaten it - will advise if there are any ill effects (apart from me being hungry!)
  3. Your vet will "push" the HSD - vet's make a HUGE markup on it. My guys do well on Royal Canin, But also thrive on Purina Chicken & Oatmeal from the supermarket
  4. I believe trichonosis is no longer a problem - that's why in the TV ads for pork they suggest cooking it so it's still a bit pink. I don't often feed my dogs raw pork, only because I tend to give them mostly chicken & lamb, occasionally beef, but they do get pig's ears and smoked snouts with no ill-effects (but then, poodles have cast-iron stomachs!)
  5. Agree with you Rysup - my puppies usually get their 1st clip at 4-5 weeks (just face, feet & tail at that stage) but when the coat grows we definitely trim it. If You didn't groom a poodle till it was 7 months old it would be impossible - they're big enough drama queens as it is. Muckypup - at the PIAA trade show recently one of the exhibitors (think it might have been Dr.Neils) had a grooming frame which stopped the dogs wriggling about. The dog was not in any discomfort, just couldn't wriggle. My partner in the grooming shop has always given my puppies their 1st clip - she takes a lot of time to calm them & get them used to the noise of the clippers etc.
  6. Oooh - I would be very wary about the mobiles - we have seen some hideous results of people using them - many are not trained and know nothing about dog grooming. I guess Reservoir would be too far for you to travel but, if not, please feel free to PM me - my partner does a beautiful job of grooming & clipping my poodles. She actually used to work at the vet in Box Hill, till we set up our shop about 3 1/2 years ago. Here's an example of her work! my boy, Harrison
  7. I first crate trained a puppy 3 years ago - it is a great way of toilet training them. I make sure to never use the crate as a punishment. I am in my office now and just looked over at the crate in here - 2 dogs sound asleep in it (it's a VERY big crate). The door is open so they have chosen to go in there to sleep.
  8. Are you kidding me???? Could you be anymore judgemental?? What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. She said she works full time!!! Are full time workers not allowed to have pets? Yes, you can have pets, but don't just assume that anyone else will look after them as you do. I would suggest that, if you really care about your pets, you would make arrangements for them to be out of harm's way when tradies are expected. Maybe I AM judgemental- all I know is, I would not trust my dogs to a stranger.
  9. mojo - I would NEVER trust another person (tradie or otherwise) to look out for my dog. If you can't be there for your dog perhaps you should not have him
  10. Janba - I am feeding ONE can between 3 dogs - think I'll just have to stop giving them to Harrison
  11. Does anyone else find that sardine cause really bad diarrhea? Harrison (10 months old) has this reaction (he does LOVE the sardines, though)
  12. Sasha's Blend powder or tablets. If it's really bad, Cartrophen injections can give a lot of relief (but VERY expensive)
  13. Peter sounds very much like his father! George was always interested in the dog & you could tell that he loved & empathised with them. Niki was not the first dog I took to him - took my first Poodle, Rana, nearly 20 years ago. The dogs seem to trust him immediately & know he is dong the best for them.
  14. I defy anyone to bath a Standard Poodle in the laundry sink
  15. Sorry cavNrott - we are in Reservoir - Northern suburbs
  16. ari If you can fine someone good close to you -it's an option worth considering (although we ARE the best)- of a bit far from Sydney
  17. It was the same setup as the one WE did in Brisbane last year .. except I think there fibreglass ramps & that ugly looking, wet dog on the enormous poster ... Website is a template found on the net and some company in WA were doing all the work. Can't say I noticed he poster dog! Too busy looking at the hydrobath & grooming table - are you still in the business? PM me
  18. Ari - The Administrator is trying to keep the business going as much as possible, but they won't be manufacturing any more hydrobaths, as the materials are too expensive to buy. They had a stand at the PIAA Expo in Melbourne and had a VERY nice, professional-looking set-up there - obviously designed to lure the mugs l(like us) into buying or leasing a new hydrobath. No wonder he was so generous with the "extras" and free freight - he knew he would never have to deliver!
  19. Can you get to South Melbourne - there is (or was) a stall there which specialises in dog food - Rabbits, Roo meat & I think she sells Eco-Pet as well
  20. Take them down to my shop & let the girls do it! Seriously, though, if you can afford to get a professional it's much less stressful for both you & the dog. Our bathers are wise to all the tricks - they are gentle but firm with the dogs. Often a dog will play up for his/her owner but nor for someone else.
  21. Ari-The company was Hydrobaths Australia - they had recently bought out Conmurra Hydrobaths
  22. Well, if he is as good as his father I can thoroughly recommend him. The thing is, it will not harm your dog and could very well solve the problem. My boy who died last year had a chronic limp. The vet was treating him with Cartrophen which did a little good, but had no lasting effect. I took him to George & it was like a miracle! After one session Niki was bouncing around like a puppy and obviously relieved to be free of pain.
  23. Is Peter Schofield any relation to George Schofield in Melbourne? If not, HUGE coincidence as George also does Canine manipulation.
  24. Rang today & actually spoke to the Administrator - very nice, helpful lady. She seemed to think that we could not be forced to go ahead with the lease agreement. as we never signed for the equipment - great relief. Certainly, in the light of day. I think that if the Finance co. paid out for equipment which had not even been manufactured, let alone delivered, it's just bad luck for them.I have written them a letter asking them to cancel the agreement on that ground and have got onto my bank to stop any direct debits in the meantime. She told me there was no money in the bank account and that the former owner would not be playing any part in the future of the company (translation - he's a lying slimeball!). We also paid for a couple of items & she's going to see if they can be sent (if there is stock)
