Had a call from the finance company a while ago - the company from which we ordered our hydrobath has gone in voluntary administration. The Finance co has been invoiced & paid for the bath but if it hasn't been manufactured yet we miss out all 'round - no bath & we still have to make the payments! Has anyone else had this experience and, if so, what did they do? Maybe I should have posted this on off topic and if that is the case I apologise.

Is PC the one looking very contrite in your siggie? I recognise that "I'm sorry - won't do it again (till next time) look.

I would be giving her a laxative to help it through, just to be on the safe side.

White or light coloured dogs usually have sensitive skin - in out shop we don't shave close to the skin in sensitive ares (face , bum etc)

Boris Is Getting Operated On Today
poodlemum replied to saintlysusan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My thoughts are with you & your beautiful boy -
Aww BenjiMom - you are so CRUEL!!! Blossom - use some Otoderm or Bayer ear cleaner (can get it from your vet) mainly, be sure you dry his ears out when he gets wet
-
Probably a yeast infection and your vet will prescribe Surolan - have you tried cleaning his ears out with Otoderm or something similar? Get him to the vet as soon as you can as if you leave it untreated you could have years of problems. When he gets wet in future make sure you dry his ears out well with cotton wool, but don't pluck them too severely as this can set up an irritation and lead to more problems. If you get on top of it now you should be ok. Good luck-your boy is sooo cute

Hysterical When Ear Plucking ?
poodlemum replied to Christina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Are you 100% sure there is no infection in the ear? If it is already tender she would not like the plucking. In 30+ years of owning poodles, I have never made a practice of plucking the ears - was told by the lady from whom I got my first poodle that a certain amount of hair in the ear canal keeps nasties out. The only time I have had an ongoing problem was when a groomer, against my specific request, plucked all the hair out of my dog's ears and irritated them so much that he kept scratching them - leading to years of problems with infection. Not all salons are rough on puppies, maybe if you find a good gentle one your puppy might behave for a stranger. -
Excellence / Nature's Gift
poodlemum replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Arolf- glad to see a pic of Rover - he DOES look good! I notice mainly that, when I open a can of Nature's Gift, It is very solid - not jellied like some canned food, and has a small amount of fat on top- generally looks pretty good (for dog food) my puppies loved it -
My heart goes out to you - it it so hard to lose a beloved dog
-
I have taken several dogs to George - he is fantastic

Excellence / Nature's Gift
poodlemum replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't give my grown dogs any canned food - but my puppies do get Nature's Gift - the great thing about it, I think, is that is smells good, most canned food smells going in like it smells coming out! Off topic - NicoleL - stunning poodles! -
Kennel Cough Passed On To Vaccinated Dogs
poodlemum replied to Mushaka's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
my VET actually told me that vaccinating against KC was a waste of time & money - as there are several strains and the vaccination does not provide long-lasting protection in any case. -
Feed my guys Purina One mainly - they are looking pretty good on it (don't feed dry exclusively). We got some samples of Eagle Pack at the grooming shop - all of my dogs & my cat would not touch it.

Bones - Hmmm How To Put This Nicely
poodlemum replied to benny123's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My groomer has FORBIDDEN me to give my dogs lamb the night before they are booked in for a groom!! By the way, why is it that dogs seem to process any food into rotten cabbage? -
descended or undescended testicle aside - what's the problem with leg cocking?

Don't worry too much erin (I'm sure it has resolved itself by now, anyway) every dog reacts differently to sedation. The same thing happened to my cat many years ago - on Christmas day (of course, cat's just love you having to pay $$$$ for the Emergency Vet). She stole a chicken bone out of someone's bin. Vet told me I shouldn't give her cooked bones. Duh, I didn't GIVE it to her! (this same cat once came home dragging a whole roast chicken - don't know where she got it from & didn't want to ask the neighbours)

Shekina - sounds very much like kennel cough. One of my dogs had it a few years ago, then everyone got it . It is highly contagious and my vet actually told me that the vaccination was not much good in providing long-term protection. He also said that, in an otherwise healthy dog, kennel cough was no more dangerous than a bad cold for an otherwise healthy human. If the cough is bothering Daegon you can get him some cough mixture from the vet. Otherwise it will run its course - keep him away from other dogs (as I said, it is HIGHLY contagious)

What My Vet Told Me...
poodlemum replied to Roxy_and_Missys_Mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Poodlefan -agree with you 100% - a vet told me that about cooked food many years ago. I feed my dogs mostly raw food - some dry (Royal Canin) and a bit of Eco-Pet. Very occasionally they will get a small amount of BBQ chicken as a treat (and they just love it) but I would not feed them BBQ chicken, or any other cooked food, exclusively (love your siggy BTW) meant to say your avatar! -
I have fed my dogs lamb shanks - I think they only splinter when cooked (anyway, never had any problems!)
-
You would probably eed to keep an eye on Daisy's ears in future - dogs with droopy ears are more prone to yeast infections and general ear problems (same with Poodles)

What My Vet Told Me...
poodlemum replied to Roxy_and_Missys_Mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Are your girl's thriving on what you feed them? If so, that's a pretty good indication that you are doing the right thing - maybe some raw chicken wings occasionally for their teeth but otherwise it seems like a pretty good diet. I would be interested to know how your vet thinks wild dogs cook their meat - pretty hard to light a fire without opposable thumbs! -
Oh, I am crying my eyes out - so sorry for you losing your wonderful dog-at least we can make sure they don't suffer and go peacefully
