  1. It is confusing...but as far as i'm concerned it comes down to what your dog does well on - i even used to be a promoter for one of the super dooper brands and i still stand by the super preium brands etc - but i will also recommend Uncle Albers and Great Barko - i'd not feed my dogs on it otherwise. Look into the ingredients, check out the different foods, try them on your dog/s and go from there. I'd descripe Pal etc as Maccas and consider Supercoat as an ok/good food - but Uncle Albers/Great Barko are 100% better then those. I'd not say they (UA/GB) are super premium foods as most understand them - but they are as far as my dogs are concerned! I also feed raw meaty bones - but not as a BARF diet as such. Have a look at everything, don't just believe the advertising and see what suits you and your dogs best :D ETA - For my 45kg GSD's i feed 2 cups to one and 3 cups to the other...per day (one is a lot more energetic then the other...lol).
  2. Uncle Albers/ Greak Barko are 100 times better then supercoat - a much mroe dense product without all the extra crap that leads to extra crap in your back yard  It's high fat and high protein so you don't feed as much of it...it's great stuff - i have access to all the good stuff at work at staff prices and i still go elsewhere to buy it - unfortuantely i haven't managed to get the bosses to supply it yet.
  3. Hehe i've used the lil packets as well..great for training treat size
  4. I know about Orijen and EP etc....but i'd also recommend Great Barko/Uncle Albers and yeah my boys do extremely well on it - and i used to feed things like Euk/Advance/RC/and a few other high premium brands - and for the cost vs the quality i've been very very happy with the Laucke Mills stuff
  5. The t-shirt is probably the best idea - tie it to him if you have to Looking silly is the least of his problems if he takes it off again! And hopefully it will get him through the night Perhaps get some vet wrap tomorrow? it's that bandage stuff that sticks to itself but won't stick to his fur...you can get it in nice bright colours...or black Use that and wrap it around him over and over - and tell him he has to leave it alone or he's going back to the cage! (Nice work on that by the way...he really is a smart boy - bet the vet peoples were all stunned! )
  6. He was desexed after a large growth was removed from his prostate which was pressing on everything - so could even just be resulting from the surgery? and the ongoing issue before it was resolved? He'd certainly be less grumpy at home! Hope he's home already  Give him a cuddle for me
  7. Aawww the poor darlin Hopefully he can come home for the weekend, recoup a bit before heading back in - never know the sweeling might subside once he's a little less on edge? Thinking of you both!
  8. Hope all is well and that the boy is well on his way to recouping at home
  9. My guys are currently getting Uncle Albers along with meaty bones - however in the past i've used Royal Canin and Proplan with great success
  10. I was guessing GSD x Huski or Akita x Huski....can we get more pic's?
  11. So...how is the darling boy? All good news i hope?
  12. They are indeed a fast way to put weight on - you just make them up in a mix and roll them into balls fridge/freeze and off you go Noticible difference within days I thinkn sausage mince is the fattiest...could depend on the recipe?
  13. Ratio etc is exactly why - not a big deal with the sardines because it's a whole sardine so the balance is already there - mind you...as with us....all things in moderation When you give calcium powder it's just pure calcium, so no balance.
  14. Glad to hear they've worked out what the issue is at least! Hopefully they can snip off the growth and the results come back that it was just a growth rather then something nastier. I'm sure the boy would rather be at work!
  15. Perhaps a prostate issue? My boys son't show their pink bits to pee - or at least not that i've noticed! But they are desexed so not sure if that might make a difference...and they are fluff-butts so perhaps they just hide their pink bits better...
  16. Hopefully he's just realised that they are doing stuff for him not just to him - he's a smart boy. Thinking of you - please let us know how you go
  17. Thinking of you and the Boy Tilly - hope it's just something simple and that he's back to his usual self in no time.
  18. I agree with this...i've tried everything else on my two GSD's but nothing worked without making their fluffy ears yuk or i had to reapply it every couple of hours...not likely to happen when i work full time! - the Advantix works beautifully
  19. Same as the lab food is fine for GR's etc GSD food is fine for BSD's as well - same as the Boxer food is often suggested for many other breeds. The foods are breed specific - but you can still use the stuff for other breeds depending on those breeds and their needs. Depending on the age of the dog i'd not be too worried about the amount of protien - you might just have to lessen the amount you feed is all. The protien is all very high quality and still balanced which is more the issue then the amount.
  20. Sounds like you are thinking of panosteitis. I was just going to suggest Pano My Bronx's brother had it...unfortunately his owners vet was telling them he needed to have elbow surgery at $3000 to start - unfortuantely they wouldn't listed to the breeder or myself or even get a second opinion But knowing his diet, activity levels etc...i wasn't surprised and pretty much through of pano straight away - breeder said the same after finding out the info i had re his diet etc. Peter - what are you diet have you got your pup on?
  21. Go for it I started Sabre (GSD) on them when i first got him...the frames were the same size as he was! (they were good sized frames tho...lol)
  22. Greenies can sometimes do interesting things to a dogs system as well - my boys had a giant sized one each the other week...green yoghurt type poo was the surprise of the day But they often get nasty dark/greenish poos after eating too much offal/entrail type stuff/too many eggs etc
  23. Anyone know if the Maxicat is available in QLD/Brisbane? Might look at emailing the company... ETA - have sent an email - their cat food products contain fish as well...so i've asked for a sample if possible to trial feed my cats as one is allergic to fish
  24. Must admit...i wish they did a cat food - i'd love to try it on the kitties since they will try and steal the UncleAlbers given half a chance
  25. I decided to try the food after getting some samples...the kibble is incredibly dense, dark and slightly moist - rather then the dry almost fluffy look of most kibble. Kinda looks like the darker royal canin kibble with less cereal/fluff to the eye. I'm assuming it does have less filler then most kibbles as i feed a surprising amount less to my boys and there is less output as well. Not trying to push it - just explaining Hwoever having got my hands on good suppliers of cheap chook frames, bones etc the Uncle Albers is in addition to those these days
