  1. It's a cheeky way of doing it - but a number of brands list them that way. However a bit of research will show you which ones do it that way and which ones don't
  2. Wow...my guys will make pigs of themselves to get the Uncle Albers/Great Barko...and so will the cats for that matter! I keep waiting for them to bring out a cat food so we can try it here for the kitties. ProPlan has been around for quite a while now and is up there with Royal Canin etc - i prefer RC but the ProPlan is a close second
  3. Even on staff prices i usually pick up that kinda stuff at around the same prices as pricelesspets.com.au - Mind you i think everything has had a price hike recently
  4. Could be Canine Dementia...my old Rottix (RIP) had it...eventually it started causing him more stress then was worth putting him through and i had to make a decision - however while it wasn't really upsetting him all was more or less ok.
  5. Anyone have any brands or suppliers that sell a scooter or something that i can run the GSD's with...already have the pulling harnesses just need something for them to pull...and i can't keep up The roller blades aren't bad - but i'm not dealing with sudden changes to ground type well with them ETA - i'm talking about the ones with the big chunky wheels but foot powered rather then electric etc...lol
  6. Dogs become lactose intolerant rather then start out that way. I continued giving my boys milk throughout puppyhood and they've never had a problem with it and they loooooove cheese
  7. You'd feed depending on energy levels/activity levels but i've found RC, in general, easy for putting weight on where needed and once there easy to keep at a good weight. They are a good sized big kibble which also make the dog crunch it rather then hoover - and if going by people eating...chew more = eat less...lol. But yes it is low GI - but as to eating moer...depends it is a compounded food so the dog wouldn't need as much of it in comparison as perhaps Bonnie, but could get more out of what it did get etc. so it would be a matter of finding the right balanced amount...but can certainly be worth looking into
  8. I have found it harder to keep a strong bond with Sabre as he is my problem child - not sure if it's to separate myself from any decision i feel i may have to make? Have often wondered if i should give him back to his breed to rehome him for various reasons - eg seems to be allergic to some of our grass as well as the pumpkin vines (vines now removed), not sure i put as much time into him as he needs as he seems to have ADHD lol, he has issues being left alone etc etc. Compared to his golden child of a half brother who is close to being perfect (lol) except for the tendancy to put on weight and desire to eat the cats...lol. Sabre has always has something going on with him - be it coat itches, skin itchies, injuries from running head on into hard wood beams (chasing cats through the house - eg the cats in the house and him under it!), he also gets fed a lot more then Bronx as he seems to burn through hsi food faster, matts that are created overnight, barking, pushing the fence boundaries to get to the pond/possums/rats etc. Currently it's all of the above - doesn't seem to matter how much they are walked etc it's still there - not enough to give up on him but enough to consider it. An awful lot of money, time and effort have gone into him for various reasons and i wonder if that is part of the bond issue - eg will i have to make a hard decision that i don't want to due to health etc. In general his behaviour isn't too bad - it's just like he's never really grown up - but Bronx is the grown up so he doesn't have to be...lol. Healthwise - he seems to go from one thing to the next be it relative eg dry coat/matts/sores when Bronx's fur etc is soft and lush, Sabe's dropped oodles of weight but Bronx is putting on more then he needs do - tho will be on half the food Sabe is, now it's the fur falling otu and itches from grass/vine allergy - yet of course it doesn't even get through Bronx's lush fur to be an issue...lol. Tried all sorts of things on Sabe and nothing completely works food/treatment wise - end up settling on the 'works best-ish' nutil the next option worth trying comes along...lol
  9. Royal Canin Lab food They can eat it until their dotage...low GI, big crunchy kibble and tasty :D
  10. My GSD pup was eating them at 8weeks...give a half a one and see how the pup fares?
  11. Yeah - it's a lot dryer looking/feeling then it used to be...i doubt i'll be trying any more for it as for the price i can get tried and tested foods that i'm happy with
  12. So far i have tried the kitty food....unfortunately i have to smother it in Royal Canin to get them to eat it
  13. Actually....you can buy them if you know where to get them from. Also if you are a member of your States Canine Cnotrol Council they often run cheap vacc and microchip days - from memory you can get a Vacc for $40 odd? Haven't done it myself for a while tho. ETA - however your vet visit for a Vac isn't paying for just the Vacc, you are also paying for a general health check up - if you aren't well known to your vet and you turn up, dog gets darted and you walk out with a large bill...perhaps decide if you want to find a new vet. But if they give the dog a good go over, update the details on the computer, have a chat with you etc while giving the Vacc and you and pooch are happy...it's quite possibly worth the money
  14. I disagree - don't stick with it if it doesn't work for you or your dog. Feed what suits your dog best - packaged or unpackaged. A properly balanced diet is worth it - but a high qualitydry food will give you that per bowl - be it high quality dry or well thought out raw...if it works for your dog then great, if it doesn't then go with what does.
  15. Just a quick question - anyone have any good vets who do early desexing on pups/kittens? Thanks
  16. Kavic have you tried the turkey based foods? I know Advance had a Tuna based one (as opposed to ProPlans Salmon based one) - not sure if that's worth looking into as well?
  17. The only time my boys have done well on raw foods was when it was purely raw meaty bones - no vegies, no grains, nothing else. Bones would include pig feet, lamb bones, beef bones, chicken frames, turkey necks, chicken pieces, turkey pieces etc - but that would be it - frozen or defrosted depending on how lazy i was feeling
  18. It's mot my fav thing to do either...but for a short term to try it may not hurt. Mind you they could all go on the RC GSD...lol I had this problem with my two GSD's as well - huge amounts of raw food to keep them in an un-starved looking condition. However if i feed JUST raw meaty bones - none of the extras or true BARF/RAW by the book kinda stuff eg offal, vegies, fruit etc etc they don't do too badly - but they still eat more of it then of dry to keep in condition.
  19. The Royal Canin GSD formula doesn't have wheat in it - have you tried that one by chance? I feel your pain...my Sabre has been going through something very very similar! We are wondering if he's having a reaction to the pumpkin vines tho, but at this point i'm not rulling out much, he is my problem child after all When i head off to work tomorrow i'm going to look at a few of our products and go from there - poor poppets!
  20. So...that means that the meat seperates enough that it doesn't digest until after the kibble does? - by that idea shouldn't the meat digest while the kibble 'spoils'? Meat and bone digest at different rates - different foods of different densities digest at different rates - going by poo output different meats can be digested at different rates *shrugs* I've never had a problem feeding a mix of foods - but i am sensible about it - eg i'm not about to munch on glass of milk and some sardiens so i won't give that as a mix for the dogs....mind you some of the stuff i've seen them eat it's more for my state of mind then their tummies!
  21. I'd go with the Royal Canin You should be able to get it from your local pet supply place If you want to tell us yuor rough location (eg nearest city) we can probably share the info of who is good in the area and the best places to get what you need
  22. The RC GSD is a great food - and it has the pup/junior version and then the adult, and with the adult they can stay on it until they are old and silly if you decide to stay with it. It tends to be easier to get your hands on too then the other one - but that could just be in and around where i am...lol.
  23. The Proplan Select has been very popular from Petwise...
  24. The Petwise stores in Brisbane are going to be carrying it as well
