  1. If it's any consulation...it appears we now have them here too! From the lil sticky bush flies to the blowies They don't seem to be bothering the dogs toooo much but i'm going to do up a solution of Neem Oil and give them a spray and make up another batch to spray the yard
  2. I'd not necessarily feed UA or GB to a growing giant breed pup - stick with the best you can afford that does a 'Giant' type preferrably - at least for the first 12-18months and then go from there. Also get to your butchers and get meaty bones etc that your pup can compeltely eat (lamb flaps, turkey pieces etc) and give him them as well - it will increase the length of time the dry fod lasts and doesn't cost the earth if you look around a bit
  3. Yup - both mine did it before the snip, a Cockatoo that had bonded with me used to hump my hand at certain times of the year and one of my desexed male cats humps either my lap or a cushion (if he starts humping me he gets moved to the cushion )
  4. Lol...was just popping in to say City Farmers stock the stuff  For dogs and cats!
  5. Hmmm...perhaps i might look into that for my problem dog...lol
  6. I get surprised by the quick intention of dog lovers to kick or abuse a dog that may be peeing on them... Sure i'd rouse on the dog but i'd not be kicking them - nor would i let anyone kick my dog. Years ago i got abused on this site because my then dog (RIP) peed on some strangers leg and tried to do it again later (i caught him first)...he'd never done it before and never did it again. I have been peed on before by a male dog who decided to pee on me - it was at obedience day! I lightly roused on the dog and skipped out the way - the owner thought it was funny and said he did that to everyone.
  7. Congratulations on today!!! Your baby girl is beautiful and such a sweetheart All your poochies are lovely
  8. Damn! Looks like no sleep in for me then!
  9. Try the Advantix on the poochies...I use it in my guys as it was the only thing that kept the flies off of their ears properly...and didn't make their ear fur manky or need to be reapplied several times a day!
  10. See everyone tomorrow! Good luck if i don't get to wish you that in person Anyone able to suggest a good time to get there? I don't care about parking as i'm only having to move myself rather then dog and gear as well
  11. Congratulations!!!! Good luck tomorrow!!! Tho i should be there to wish you luck if i find you in time Gotta dig up when the show's expected to all start
  12. Must have - sense of humour, good company and a comfy chair
  13. My GSD Bronx is a bit like that - his behaviour becomes more 'soft' and careful he'll often lay his head in their lap if they are in a chair/wheelchair etc so they can pat him and play with his soft pointy ears Years ago I was seriously considering training him so we could visit kids in hospital etc - but i was running out of time then and then had someone else take up all our time. I may consider it again if we can get ourselves together since we have less pull on our time again
  14. Give him good bones that he can eat the lot - eg lamb flaps, turkey pieces etc - lots of chew toys - it builds up the muscles around hte jaw and below the ear etc Also his ears will be all over the place until teething fully settles down They are so cute when their ears are left, right and centre all at the same time
  15. Perhaps one of these? http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/waterdog-a...r-pet-fountain/ ETA - mind you...he still might eat it You can get a smaller version that is stainless steel and just screws onto the tap, you just leave the tap running slightly and the water won't come out until they nudge/lick the nozzle bit - i just can't remember where i bought it from! ETA - i bought one of those concrete small troughs for the dogs...which was great - kept the water cool and everything...except Sabre the twit would dig all the water out of it - and usually in the morning!
  16. There are Group Coordinators? Lol...i wasn't sure how to contact them so i figure i'll call Dogs QLD closer to the date and ask them if it's still on etc Hmm...isn't 26th April a public holiday? or am i thinking hte wrong day? lol
  17. That is so true. The better the relationship you have with Berner breeders around the place the more likely you are to be offered something of real quality when the time comes. It can be difficult for breeders to trust somebody they haven't known for long, so the longer you've shown commitment, the better! to you both...that's the way i had it figured...i mean if i still want a Berner in five odd years, and a breeder wants to me to have a great pup of theirs - what more could i want?
  18. Thanks so much for that T-Time!!! I'll add that to my calender Oh...you don't have to have one of the breed to go to the lectures? And is it a matter of booking?
  19. I'll be coming in on Sunday I will respond to KitKat and will be the person not in show clothes, without a dog and with a long dark plait
  20. Thanks everyone Part of the reason for the long term plan is to save the money - i'm on a single budget now so not so much to play with, even less if i don't win the job i'm acting in. Leave also isn't likely unless i can win the job. I figured the term gives me enough time to save money and decide if i really do want a Berner - not just having fallen for the one Berner - i have always liked them but had never had too much to do with them as they aren't exactly common. I wasn't looking to rock up to a breeder and say "put me down for a show male pup from your first litter in 2015". I want to learn the lines, types and of the dogs themselves, and the breeders before i put my name on someones list. I figured because they aren't a common breed (at least not in QLD), only a certain number of litters allowed from a bitch in qld (from memory) and other such things that i might be better off getting myself known by breeders of Berners, and getting to know them - i'd then be in a better position to be considered favourably and know what i was getting, and getting into. There may also be other Berner breeders by then, and i'd have an idea of what their dogs are like, and what their pups might be like as well. All this without walking in and being smitten by a fluffy pup without considering further. I'm a sucker for a pup - but if i have the info behind me (and perhaps Berner kisses and cuddles along the way) i'll be able to make the decisions for the right reasons.
  21. How do i get an old issue? didn't realise these were on and i wonder if/when Group 6 will be done? or Berners in particular? by chance anyone know? MissB - hope you don't mind me snaffling in on your thread!
  22. I liked the Barbie and Darth thread too gave me the giggles :rolf:
