Most dogs will snap up a cat poo given the chance - bit like truffles for dogs, they'll snuffle their noses thru dirt or kitty litter looking for them I still won't agree that Raw/Barf is the be all and end all - however i'm glad it works for those it works for and in it's varieties. For my GSD's the only time 'raw/barf' works for them is when it's 98% bones and if i remember to throw them some liver etc (they refuse kidneys). If done by the books etc they get skinny and out of condition (even with being fed 3-4 times the recommended amounts)

So cute!!! I had that happen with one of my cats, possum must have fallen off of mum near the cat run...so latched on to one of my Birman's! So good girl that my cats is she then raced in to me to get the baby off of her

Aawww the poor poppet! Glad to hear it wasn't serious, but with those sorta things it's always best to be cautious!

Lol...they probably weren't expecting the buyers to all be in contact with each other

I used to have a pure bred Lab...he was 40kg but all muscle and a big build.- no digging thru fat for ribs or any of that. Another Lab i knew was a Govt working dog and lean muscle - big bulky build and all muscle and was also 40kg odd... To me your girl looks good...lean but she looks like she'd be slim of build anyway so slender is perfect for her Perhaps because she's nto a ball of fluff this confuses people?

Can Anything Be Done To Keep Cats Away?
KitKat replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
My GSD's are the same - and i do the same thing, they are confined when i go to bed. As to the cats...i have several cats and they are all kept inside with access to the cat run - and they are happy, healthy and safe cats. As opposed to the people across the road who have two cats, they had a third which i believe was hit by a car, who wander over and annoy the surrounding neighbours dogs (including my own), they pee on my car, pee in my garden and crap in my garden - i'm sorry...i have several more cats then they do but noone would know unless i told them! Even the neighbours who can see the cat run have no idea how many cats we have! And that's how it should be...lol - dogs are to be contained in their yard...same for kitties, makes sense to me for the health and safety of my own animals let alone anyone elses sanity! Apparently spearmint/peppermint oil can deter cats - not sure how often it needs to be reapplied tho. You can also get some fence toppers which can keep cats out due to how they are 'loose' and so the cats won't use that fence top because they can't 'land/balance' on it properly. -
I thought the long coat (or long stock coat) was now allowed in the standard? at least in Germany? (or perhaps it was being considered?) I prefer the look of the long stock coat - and look forward to when they are showable here, even tho both mine are snipped. I love the GSD in all their forms and colours - but i'll only ever own longcoats.

Fluffy GSD's are the best (followed very closely by normal coated GSD's)...but i might be a tad biased

I know a petshop in Brissie who was spouting that exact line - i did let the people who were looking at the pups know that no...they are nothing like GR's...

Aaawwwww what a cutie! -
I'm thinking i will join this thread, next week OH moves out so i'll have more time for the boys again - hopefully i can get into the habit of walking the boys nightly again, and then keep the habit even if the OH moves back in at a later stage (depends on if we can work the relationship out). But this week and next week will probably be out, but i'll see how i go

Flying - as i understand it the breed name is "German Shepherd Dog" German shepherds being German people looking after sheep and their herds...lol. Several breeds have that going for them...

For me it depends...if i know the product well enough and it's been stored properly i'd feed it to my mob without an issue. I have two bags of RC that i am feeding to my cats that are out of date...bought two for one (worked out cheaper then staff price even ) - but saying that...i know the product...lol. Many of the 'clear bag/bucket' mixed kibbles that you buy are may be from slightly out of date bags, but are more likely to be from opened/torn bags.

I think we need some pics in this thread I'd love to see some puppy and adult pics I'd love to have two BM's...a red or brindle boy and a brindle girl :D

If you want a huge vet bill to get the cob out of the dogs gut then.... Brother-in-law's dog managed to scrounge one (BIL didn't know where from) and yeah....huuuuuuuuge vet bill to get the thing removed and one very unhappy Lab.
-
Curash or zinc powder I use them when my GSD's occasionally get hotspots, i don't even have to clip their coats with that stuff so it's great
-
The moogoo scalp cream is great for fungal infections as well As to the dorito smell...i've always assumed that was just healthy cat/dog feet smell - all my cats paws smell of corn chips and have clean healthy paws (between pads etc) and same with the dogs if they haven't been treading in mud...but have clean healthy skin etc between paw pads. Curious...i'll have to keep a closer eye on them...lol...i love the corn chip smell of their feets!

Breed Specific Dry Foods - Rottweiler
KitKat replied to hastey's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Some of it does come down to hype...but for example RC's Lab food is low GI, and the kibble is a bigger then average size to help stop them hoovering up the food. The GSD food has no wheat, and is again a decent size kibble for a larger breed dog. The adult ranges of the breed specific foods can be used into the dogs old age without having to change foods as well. I've put dogs onto these foods and watched them get over skin issues, intestinal issues etc etc where even the normal range didn't quite sort everything out. I personally think they are worth trying, tho if your dog is prefectly healthy with no health/skin/tummy issues then i would say it comes down more to choice.
