  1. Hopefully if this is true, this food will no longer be exclusive through the Pets Paradise stores. This is an incredible food, I just hope P & G keep the core values and principles the same as the original Natura. http://www.manufacturing.net/News-Procter-...cts-050610.aspx
  2. I *think* I would, but it would be very hard. If it can help other dogs/familys then I would like to be able to help. I think it is a reasonable request to want the cremated remains returned (at no expense to you). It's a hard decision and what ever one you make will be the right one
  3. My God, shes lucky she found you!!! Little darling I hope everything works out for you.
  4. In this section there is a Glossary: Forum Suggestions / Help / Messages
  5. I stayed with my boy, but my husband couldn't and waited outside. I hugged him and held up the vein for the Vet, Zues wasn't stressed at all because mummy was cuddling him and the nice Vet man was giving him attention too He gave me a big kiss just before he was given his wings. It was easier for him because I was there and he didn't know something was "wrong" That was 1 1/2 years ago and I still dream about him and miss him so much sometimes it hurts. I will always be there for any of my animals when the time comes, but I can understand why some people (like my husband) can't handle it. RIP beautiful boy xxxooo
  6. She looks like a little marshmallow, and I bet just as sweet what a cutie
  7. B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's a chunky little fella, how big will he get? GSP size?
  8. Anyone with the mentality of "we should let them have just one litter" should be confronted with this reality.
  9. Now I remember why I don't come into this section much My God, the look on that dogs face - how the hell could anyone do that? How terrified that dog would have been, coupled with the fact his little friend didn't make it. Gonna go and hava a cry now.
  10. OMG, OMG, OMG Perhaps prepare a really nice dinner to soften the blow? Alternatively - get rid of the car (hide the evidence)
  11. I work in a Vet Clinic, but have never heard of this product. I would be very intereted on your feedback on this product if you decide to give it ago. I think an item like this would appeal to quite a few of our clients who cant brush their pets teeth, get them to eat appropriate diet or afford dentals.
  12. Total show novice here, but are there dress codes for dog shows? Funny thing is, 5 years from now you will probably be laughing at what you wear today :D I remember free dress day at high school, I thought I looked super cool and casual, but looking back at old photos now I cringe. There is a photo of my mum in her teens wearing jeans a hippy top and a bandana and now I think she looked awesome. Fashion is everchanging. ETA - I am sitting here wearing an animal print boob-tube dress as a skirt an a black singlet with the hems falling apart - now thats a good look
  13. Congratulations everyone involved
  14. That's interesting because I have never had a problem with fleas before and while it's not exactly a problem, I do keep finding the odd flea at the moment. We haven't had rain for over 4 months. I was wondering about the use of it on cats as it's only made/marketed for dogs. So it's quite safe to give a small dog dose to cats, preferably given over 2 days? According to the rep it is safe for cats. A single dose can be given, but she said it can upset the tummy (like with small dogs) and can be given over 2 days as it has a cumulative effect. I am thinking of trying it on my cats.
  15. I think my next dog will definately be a rescue. DOL has totally changed my opinion of where pets "should" come from (this is after working for 8 1/2 years in for a pet store - DOL made me question what the hell I was doing in that industry and encouraged me to persue what I do now and LOVE!!). Now, as a vet nurse working for a Vet who does a lot of work for various rescue groups, I haver a totally different outlook on animal ownership (or being owned by animals ).
  16. We are selling a ton of Comfortis through work at the moment, it is the only thing that seems to be working effectively at the moment. A couple of the nurses are using it on their own pets and they think it is great. We are having a lot of positive feed back from our clients as well. For little dogs the dose can be administered over two days as a full tablet can upset the tummy. The rep says off label use - it works for cats too (same dose rate as dogs) just best administered over two days to prevent stomach upset.
  17. Thats really sad. RIP little Beam.
  18. In my opinion all animals deserve a home. They don't choose to come into this world, often they are just a consequence of human greed/ignorance. If instead of selling puppies and kittens purchased from backyard breeders, pet stores sold rescue animals, I think this would be a step in the right direction. Its about educating the public and lets face it a lot of people go to a pet store because they think thats where you buy pets. If instead of being bombarded with oodles of oodles and designer dogs the public came face to face with rescues in desperate need of a caring homes, it could go a long way in raising awareness about rescue. Of course every new owner should be screened and provided with realistic information in what would be invovled in adopting that particular animal. I obviously goes with out saying that all the rescue animals should be desexed before being rehomed as well. If people go into animal ownership educated and with their eyes wide open, hopefully none of these animals will end up back in the system.
  19. Both bitches should be spayed. Disgusting woman - no excuse is good enough for what she did.
  20. Apologies if this has been posted before. I got sent this via email and thought it might be nice to share (for some reason the photos aren't working): Lucky Dog.... Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and you may even decide you need one! Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named 'Lucky.' Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing. Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's other favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box. It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease.... in fact; she was just sure it was fatal. She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders. The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her... what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him! The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death. The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable. Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap. Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed. When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem. She was covered, literally blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned! While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love. Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every day. It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky ? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure. Remember....live every day to the fullest. Each minute is a blessing. And never forget....the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most Credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care for us.
