  4. hi monkeymoose kaisers 8 mo and has just discovered he can jump. and if vocalisation doesnt work, which thank doG it does for kaiser, i know it can sound bad and some people dont like it but lift up your knee so thier chest bangs into it. ive never tried this one but some one told me to grab thier paws and squeeze them gently, personally i dont like this one. hope that helps. Jess
  5. If you don't have a CC, but still happy to buy online, you could get it from Ebay but pay direct debit? There is at least one seller on there that accepts DD. i never thought of that. thanks. i'll have to have a look. thanks again.
  6. hay guys i really want to get a black dog treat bag, but i dont have a credit card. my local vet are supplied with there products but they wouldn't order it in for me. does anyone know of a shop in south east vic that would order one in for me?? thanks for any help.
  7. leerburg uses the Orbee ball for that reason. i'd love to get one but i havent found any places that sell them, orhave i ot been looking hard enough... a quick story, a friend of mine resqued an 8 or 9 yo dobie, he was not in the best way. it wasn't till a couple of month ago that they discovered he had swallowed a tennis ball which looked like it had been in his stomach for a fair few years. once he had it removed he started to get better and is now much healthier. because of this i am paraniod about giving kaiser any tennis balls, that and the glue, rubber and die is supposed to be bad for them, and probably is quite bad.
  8. i had to add this. this is such a great thread  its a great idea. ive gotn so many great patterns from this. well done on making such a usefull thread.
  9. i was watching a show called animals matter on Aurora, and they believe all dogs are vegan and to feed a dog meat is wrong and cruel, and that dogs are meant to be vegan, they prefer to eat vegies. hmmm cause im sure my dog will choose grass over his chicken frames and Barf diet any day
  10. ahh i never thought of them. do you make your own or do you buy them. if so do you know where i can buy them cause when i looked at them a few months ago i couldn't find anywhere that they are sold. Yancelby- thats good then, casue she needs to put on some weight. and she seems to like puppy food better than senior. Thanks again guys, narlas going to be very appreciative.
  11. they feeling in side you when the dog is in your car and your driving home, its almost addictive. all three of our dogs were saved in some way. Narla, 13, mini pom X, she was dumped out the front of our family pet shop in 96. not rescued as such. Chevy, 3, bull mastiff, rescued from a farm at 7 months, where she lived in a dirt pen the size of a cage, with so many fleas her hair was moving, and never been fed a proper meal. and they were about to shoot her. Kaiser, 7 M/O, Dobermann, found him in the trading post from a BYB, when we got there we just couldn't leave without him. he was 6 weeks old, was full of fleas, had never been weaned but the mother had run out of milk so another bitch that had just had a litter was feeding them. and that many warms that we just got rid of them all two months ago, after the vet gave us some seriously strong warmers. he was also living in a dirt pen, with no water or shelter and had never peen pooper scooped. and both chev and kaiser, when we tried to show any type of affection, freaked out from being touched. chev was scared of everything, roads, tissues, unusual floors, bags, bins... the list goes on and she still has a lot of these fears today, despite our every effert we sent an email to the RSPCA but whether they did anything or not i dont know, ill just have to wait and see if he advertises in the paper again. sorry to rant about these evil people, but something needs to be done about BYBs and RSPCA have so much else on there plate they cant do it alone.
  12. i looked at the advance one, but i wasn't too sure cause it was for puppies. but it seems to have worked well for you. ill look into the royal canin mini thats sound good. its good to see someone take care of a senior dog, we need more people like you around, theres just not enough rescuers for all the BYB that keep spitting the pups out. thanks again.
  13. i've seen them, i have a little bag of them for treats. there like the pedigree meaty bites . i might beable to find a bigger bag if i look around. thanks. gosh i love this website DOLers are all so friendly and helpfull.
  14. hmm.. they both sound like great ideas i'll have to try them both and see haw she goes. and she does love thoughs liver treats.. this might work well. thanks GayleK and sumosmum.
  15. i tryed that the other night, she just turned her face up in disgust. and she wont eat till i give her somthing better, or i add an artifisul flavour like gravox or something, which i dont like the idea of. thanks alot though.
  16. i have a 13 year old mini pomy X mini foxy that has most of her teeth missing. she is currently eating a natural roll, but i cant seem to find one for seniors. i was just wondering if anyone knows of any rehydatable dry food that would be suitable for her?? or is there anything else like that that would be good for her?? thanks guys for any help.
  17. i looked into it and apparently its not as good as what it used to be, they took out one of the main ingerdients, i've been suggested to use greenpet suppliement, there in queensland but they'll ship it to you, is also much cheaper than the original M.L. you can get it from most health food shops, as they generally stock the human version. i still havn't decided what replacement to use so atm im only giving him vets all natural, so if anyone can help me aswell with some info on the Blue Coat Enhancer that would be great. thanks
  18. if your interested in doing a course in tracking NDTF (National Dog Trainers Federation) run a one day course, as far as i know the next one is in May. im not sure if that helps you at all, ive been looking into it aswell and havent had much luck. but fortunatly a friend in my town is hopefully going to teach us.
  19. i know this isn't of much help the vca website has a lost of good info on getting started in tracking. www.vca.org.au/ thats the best i can help you with, hope it is of some use

    Jealous

i agree with what everone has said, its just dominance, my male dobe, kaiser is the same age and is the same. its always HIS bone, HIS toy and not my other dogs, he doesn't get agresive though. training him, if he's not already will help. i wouldn't reccomend getting him de-sexed at his age, (as i started a thread last week inquiring about what age is best) im planning on getting mine done between 12months - 24 months, if i get him done at all. i would also like to know what breeder would give you a pup at 7 weeks of age?? and, not trying to be mean or anything, but why would you get a second dobe when your other is only 5 months, this is there most criticle time for training and need all your time and attention to set them up, training wise, for the rest of their lives. sorry but i had to state my opinion.
  21. Thanks alot for that everyone, i'll wait untill he's older. he's already started humping, although he started doing that at 12 weeks old im not really worried about the running away or peeing everywhere stuff, none of our other male dobes were ever de-sexed and they never did that. but anyways thanks again. Jess
  22. Thanks again with all the help dolers. greatly appreciated
  23. Hi all, my name is jess, i have a 22 week old male dobie, Kaiser. i was planning to get him desexed somewhere between 8 and 12 months, but was told by a breeder not to do it till hes 18 months. what do you dolers think of this, is this a good age?? and does anyone know why i shouldn't get him done earlier. thanks any info would be greatly appreciated. Jess + Kaiser
