  9. Funny you should say that yesterday I had all these flies in my house at the front it was weird. Like a whole heaped hat hatched I reckon some where. I'm in Brissy so maybe its because of all the rain maybe. But I always have my back door open before work for the dogs to come and go and I have never had trouble with flies.
  10. Anyone used this thinking of getting some. I did do a search but there was so much stuff come up. My girl has peed in the study the other day they have peed in the same room several times. Tried to clean it up anyway OH didn't shut the door so my male peed on top of it. I had put vingear on it this morning to try to get the stain out. So I'm not sure should I use Biozet to get the stain out then spray Urine Free on or just use Urine Free as its suppose to get stains out as well thanks
  11. Yeh I agree with Steve Austin I can't believe he is supporting Puppy Farmers, tosser!!! The pictures of the goldies in the kennel. Goldies are a breed that do not like being separated from people as I would say with most breeds. You cannot tell me the likes of that Banksia Puppy Farm carry out heridatary testing on all those dogs. I just hope people watching think twice on where to purchase their next puppy. great idea
  12. I have sent a letter of disapproval, although I do not live in that State. I have also sent your letter to friends in Victoria urging them to sign it and pass it on.
  13. Yeh I use this as their "take-away" sometimes. They love it I think it seems to be pretty good. Its great for when you are travelling
  14. Gosh this makes me so mad I'm sorry but I can't help it. I would be contacting the breeder of the Golden Retriever and let them know what your SIL is thinking of doing. I know they can't technicallly do anything about it, but it is ridiculous what is the matter with your SIL. Cross breeding with a pitbull. This is the breed that I absolutely adore and respect and it breaks my heart that two stupid morons think oh they are going to have beautiful puppies. Take them for a look down at the local shelters/pounds and see how many dogs are there on death row. :D ;)
  15. http://north-west-news.whereilive.com.au/n...nts-puppy-love/ I would really like to respond to this article without feeling like I am an ogre and a bitch and I'm not against this beautiful little girl getting a puppy. I think it's wonderful she finally has the experience of having her own dog especially with everything she has gone through. But maybe in this case its best to leave it. "Local community members have come to the fore. In a matter of days a local breeder offered to donate a puppy, while the Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club plans to pay the vet and puppy school bills. ie the dog being a maltese-toy poodle cross. I don't know it gets on my nerves them advertising a bloody designer dog and obviously a back yard breeder.
  16. Good to see someone with a sense of humour
  17. Hi Willow You did the right thing. You directed this idiot of a person to the right authorities. I think a letter to the editor in your local paper outlining everything that happened would be good. Or even get if you get in contact with the local newspaper to do a story on it. Unbelievable what idiots are out in our society. Church groups or not, for god sake they could have a bake stall instead of auctioning of a dog disgusting.
  18. 1. What is my relationship with the breed? (ie breeder, first time owner etc) Had goldens since I was 14, been the owner of 4 to date 5. What is the general temperament/personality? Awesome temperaments, love to be around people at all times. The males to me are more sookier than the females. There temperament should be unflappable but unfortunate we are seeing some that are shy and timid and also agressive. 6. How much daily exercise is needed for the average adult? I have two my boy needs exercise every day. The girl although would be quite happy to sleep on the couch all day. I do feel though they need to get out at least once a day. 7. Is it a breed that a first time dog owner could easily cope with? Yes although every dog has it's own personalities just like us. Some are more active than others. 8. Can solo dogs of this breed easily occupy themselves for long periods? Yes, they are quite happy to be by themselves. My girl was by herself for 2 years and coped fine. But they do love the company of other dogs 9. How much grooming is required? A really good brush at least once a week. Depending what type of coat they have, some have more than others and tend to get matted. so depending on the coat type. I generally wash them every 2 weeks. 10. Is it too boisterous for very small children or for infirm people (unless the dog is well trained)? Some puppies can be but Goldies are so tolerant. My girl grew up with my son she was born 7 months before him, she did however use to knock him over a bit but he survived and she is the best dog around kids. You will find if kids get too much for them they will generally walk away when they've had enough.
  19. I just replied then my internet cut out just about when I went to post my reply, when I get more time I wil redo it!!! arggggg
  20. I bought an Oldfield Dryer for my goldies and absolutely love it. The coat comes up so lovely and it heaps quicker than a normal hairdryer.
  21. Also we have tips up on our website www.grcq.org.au
  22. Hi Goldenluv if you want to vist our Qld website www.grcq.org.au under the grooming section we have some tips for you. For showing once they get older you do have to trim their necks and it just takes a practice after all this years sometimes I still cut holes in their coats. Australian dogs are groomed quite different to the American Golden Retrievers as American lines are quite different to English lines
  23. Yeh is he very lucky to have found you and of course he is absolutely gorgeous.
  24. Just to let everyone know the GRCQ Inc is holding another Silent Auction starting 1st April and we have 4 Houndbags up for grabs. Just to let you know!!!
