  1. I just did a count (+- here and there to allow for Ag shows that aren't listed and run or those that are listed and don't run) NSW has 550 Championship shows scheduled for 2012 (including Specialties). In our part of NSW within 600k radius there are only 12 shows for the year and that is between end of may and end of October. Its easy to say that a state has x number of shows but where they are located needs to be taken into consideration. NSW is larger in area than the whole of England (if my memory of high school geography is right)and for some even though there are that many shows many would be too far away. AS an example to travel from western NSW to show on the East Coast of NSW is 1400k's. As far as travellinmg from Southern NSW (Albury) to Northern NSW I can't comment because I haven't done it. So while 550 Champ shows sounds a lot in some areas of the state there really aren't that many. I was simply answering the question (ie. how many shows does NSW hold each year)... FYI it's about 5.5 hours from Albury to Sydney and about9 hours to Northern NSW from Sydney.

  3. On occassion I get calls for a Welsh Corgee...(as in gee whizz). However I think it might be that they simply cannot pronounce 'gi' as each phone call has been from a person with an Asian type accent (and I am NOT having a go at all) I just assume they can't or don't pronounce it as it's normally said? ETA: We've had them called sausage dogs, wombats and "where's their legs".
  4. I think you should post some photos so we can all argue with you and your hubby I'd prefer moderate and balanced in general, if the heavier brother is heavy now will he become coarse later?
  5. I did not say that she had mastitis. I was just correcting the misinterpretation of mastitis. As LizT stated that old treatment for mastitis was to remove they baby, now it s not but not all have to caught on to this information. ETA. Had to change Aziah's post as the mail marshall blocked the word starting with b... ;) ;) I can only reply to how I interpreted your post BB - there was no harm meant. Anyhoo...moving right along.
  6. Good decision I'm sure all will go well and just think - after Friday it's all over and done with.
  7. I didnt say that she did have mastitis. I was mentioning one way to check. And mastitis in the first instance may not show up to the untrained eye. And in many cases if the pups are not well it can be because of something that mum is passing on to them I didn't say you did my post was in reply to BB (Bilbo Baggins) Fantastic news
  8. The bitch doesn't have mastitis BB she is fine it's the pups not doing well and the amtiniotics could be causing rheir gut upset or it could be somerhing more sinister, hopefully not. How are they doing Hilaryo?
  9. She's on antibiotics yes? If so then her milk is full of antibiotics which in many cases will cause gut upsets in young puppies.
  10. ...and I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time Hilaryo (and daughter)
  11. I'd still not allow them to feed, if they'll take a bottle it's not going to harm them to see if it makes any difference. I'd rather try that than not, then you won't be left wondering.
  12. It's wonderful, wonderful stuff - I've used it on 2 week olds previously with no problem.
  13. I'd be inclined not to let them feed from her and see if that settles things down (assuming you've got a good supplement on hand to do the bottle feeds).
  14. you know they are going to come out of the woodwork, no matter what they look like , the good, the bad and the ugly. They'll get their CC and disappear again No doubt it will happen!
  15. 1. It's not uncommon for large/giant breeds to have their first season well after 12 months of age. 2. It is possible for a bitch that has been mated (espcially a maiden bitch) to show signs of pregnancy quite early on however the same can be said for phantom pregnancies. There is no reason not to take her to Vet now and have her desexed, please do so. She will be desexed. I am just concerned that if she is pregnant desexing while pregnant would be less than ideal. Or is that still possible since she it is so early? We can't have puppies now, I am pregnant myself and due any day so I am hoping she is simply sympathising with me otherwise we get a scan done now just to be sure, and wait until we have settled with the new baby before we put her through surgery (but before she goes on heat). So do you have two bitches (ie. one who hasn't yet come into season and the other who has and may have been mated)? If you have one bitch then she was either in season or not and got out? She is a giant breed and far too young to be having a litter, please have her desexed now rather than later. There's no reason to put it off, you've got a baby on the way and things are only going to become more hectic. If you have her done now (ie. this week or next) then it will be over and done with and forgotten and you won't have the worry of a bitch in season. I really can't be any clearer - have her desexed ETA: Yes even if she is pregant, she can still be desexed (adn the earlier on the better).

  17. I haven't seen - any chance you could scan in for us Rascal and delete any details you don't want the public to view?
