Okay - i created my flickr set here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shell_shocked...57625602584241/ I'm going to have a monthly theme too. Hopefully it'll help give me some ideas. January shall now be known as "A Month Of Love", though I may hate it by the end! Day 001 Day 002
-
I didn't think I was going to be able to get these up until dad had gone home to perth but I decided to stay up a little late tonight to get them done. I've decided to go with a theme each month this year so January will be "A Month of Love". 001 - My niece, Rachel (acting like a diva rather than a princess!). Her quote of the day was "Stop clicking that thing at me aunty shell!" 002 - The book fell this way and then I spent like 10 minutes trying to replicate it when I disturbed it! And so it begins
-
I'm in too - unfortunately edited photos will have to wait until my dad goes home to perth on the 4th. I'm not spending anytime at home atm!
-
Oh you guys! It's really nothing. Like 2 minutes out of my day that would otherwise be spent trawling DOL!
-
Whoot - definitely in for this one. Good start to project 365!
-
The OP is updated - I'll be starting on the 3rd and will work monday-sunday but if anyone wants to go by calendar week (1st-7th, 8th-14th etc), feel free to!
-
The OP is updated. I'll be starting on the 3rd and my week will go from monday to sunday. Eep. I think I'm going to have a lot of photo challenges going this year! ETA: I'm actually considering doing a 52 weeks of me challenge as well this year. I never take shots of myself so I think it would be good fo me....
-
The next one will be in NSW - won't it Steve!!!! It better be!!!
-
I can't recommend Steve enough - Zero was horribly dog aggressive (he was a "red zone" case because he just had to see what he thought was a dog, or the shadow of another dog and he would lose it) and Steve was the only one who got even the slightest amount of improvement from Zero. I can now have him around other dogs and I'm not afraid to leave him with other people anymore. My dad (who lives in another state and has only seen Zero a handful of times) walked him around centennial park a couple of days ago and had lots of off leash dogs approach him without a problem - even with someone he doesn't really know, Z was absolutely fine. The best part is that he's happier in general now - you don't realise how hard it makes the dog's life to have a problem like that. I don't think it's ever too late to work on a behavioural problem with a dog, especially if it's an aggressive behaviour.
-
Not a problem! Let me know if you decide you want to do a Frodo one and I'll add you back onto the OP for this thread - you're already on the OP of the other one. And you will definitely get good photos! I've seen your shots and they're good!
-
I've not personally used it but I have heard very good things. Apparently the zoom is amazing but I haven't seen how it performs at it's maximum focal length so I don't know. Google is your friend - google the name and review and some very in-the-know people will tell you how good it is.... then buy it and report back to me!
-
Have a look on ebay lic - mine was hundreds of dollars cheaper on ebay than it was at the local camera shop.

Pork Pies Or Lies The General Public Tell Us
~*Shell*~ replied to freundhund's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mine does too - but yes, definitely not for the non-dog person! When Zero was dog-aggressive, I often had people tell me that the way to "cure" him was to take him to the dog park and let him loose so he could "sort it out for himself" because he would have other dogs fight back and he would learn that he couldn't be aggressive or he would get bitten. Oh and that the only problem with him was that he was a dominant dog so I should alpha roll him when he was aggressing at another dog. Somehow I don't think they understood the meaning of "sudden explosive aggression". Good luck with alpha rolling that. -
I have the lowepro computrekker and I love it! Fits my camera and my laptop in it if I need to take them somewhere! It's got awesome padding so I never get a sore back from it and heaps of hidey holes for everything i want to carry with me. Is your other lowepro the slingshot kja?

There is not enough like for this thread Lic!

Here you go: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=212043 And the OP is updated!

This thread is for all those people who want to participate in a 52 weeks for dogs like challenge but who don't want to focus on one dog. Post what your theme will be (aka 52 weeks of all of my dogs, if you want to photograph just one member of your pack a week) and if you have a link to an album (flickr, photobucket or a blog etc) post that too so I can add it to the OP. ~*Shell*~ with "52 weeks of Mow" kja with "52 weeks of my pets" kittikat09 with "52 weeks of My Boys - Otto & Pepper" Frodo's mum with "52 weeks of all my dogs" Evolving with "52 weeks of the girls" MTD with "52 weeks of Maggie" MavericksMission with "52 weeks of Bernard, my Guinea Pig" GoldD with "52 weeks of my boyz" Terranik with "52 Weeks of Fuzz" Ish with "52 weeks of my GSDs" Ravyk with "52 weeks of Spot and Peggie" CrazyCresties with lic_82 with 52 weeks of a photo a week Carebear with "52 weeks of stuff" Zenith with "52 weeks of my fav photo from that week" Anniek with "52 weeks of exposure" Smoothiegirl with "52 weeks of animals"
-
Everyone can join whether you have flickr or not. I know a lot of people don't like flickr and that's cool. You can do 52 weeks for your chicken (or other animal) if you really want to - I also don't mind a 52 weeks for all of your pets (for people who have more than 1) or if you do 5 lots of 52 weeks, one for each of your pets. I'll create another thread for 52 weeks for other pets if you like.
-
Thanks guys! I'm off to take the Z man for a walk but I will definitely add everyone to the OP when I get back! Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! And Helen - Yay for Kyla maybe making an appearance!
-
They don't like to include more than a few of the same breed so I believe people with border collies and and poodle crosses were turned away last year. I think there is also a "waiting list" now to get to participate and so they choose people/dogs based on how old the dog is and what health problems it has etc. I ended up not wanting to participate in the group last year and gave it up - it all felt a little elitist to me and who is anyone else to say I can't participate in my own way. We just make it open to everyone on DOL - we do it for the fun of seeing eachother's dogs and the ideas we have!
-
For some reason the link doesn't work. You'll need to create a set for the 52 photos. Unfortunately to create it you have to put one photo in it. I used one that is set to private viewing as a placeholder until I have something to add.

Well next week is the start of the new year so I thought I would get on top of this early before I forget! 52 weeks for dogs is a flickr group that can be joined but as we learned last year, not everyone is welcome so we run our own here on DOL and in a special DOL 52 weeks for dogs flickr group. The orginal group is here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/52weeks4dogs/ The special DOL group is here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/dol52weeksofdog/ Another flickr group that can be joined by everyone is here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/52weeksofdogs/ If you post or PM me the name of the dog you intend to photograph this year and a link to your album for it, I'll start putting names down here: ~*Shell*~ with Zero: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shell_shocked...ith/5273664148/ Whiskedaway with Halo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/whisked-away/...57625555474767/ Altheau with Yuki: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46022126@N02/...57625682715020/ Helen with Chazer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rivamist/sets...57625560952647/ RallyValley with Toby: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46087317@N04/...57625561052471/ TLC with Bronson Joseph: http://www.flickr.com/photos/38795548@N03/...57625686730638/ Anniek with Cowboy Miss B with Winter KumaAkita with Kuma Kirislin with Puck Lovelea with yet-to-come-home-puppy Evolving with Bob FlyingDuster with Paris: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46047051@N07/...57625563944311/ Gila with Spencer MavericksMission with Hector Wuffles with Ava http://www.flickr.com/photos/wufflesx/sets...57625694084734/ Clickingmad with Lotus the crazy labrador Poocow with Flynny http://www.flickr.com/photos/poocow/sets/72157625694861642/ Piper with Jazz http://www.flickr.com/photos/8799389@N04/s...57625569720415/ LoveLottie with Lottie http://www.flickr.com/photos/57616405@N07/...57625698263048/ Ish with Termi MTD with Maggie http://www.flickr.com/photos/mtd3/sets/72157625576625583/ FionaC with Mortimer http://www.flickr.com/photos/fiona_c/sets/72157625577096523/ Niques with James http://www.flickr.com/photos/57625936@N03/...57625577396301/ SammieS with Asti http://www.flickr.com/photos/samanthasalla...57625702806054/ Primedogs with Watson http://www.flickr.com/photos/26246342@N08/...57625577748457/ Weibritty with Marlo Kickss with Willow http://www.flickr.com/photos/rkdphotography/

Some absolutely gorgeous photos in here! DOLers are very talented!

Some shots I'm proud of from this year (don't know if they're my best but they're alright!): Taken at night with only the lights of my car and the speedlite on my 450D Taken in my kitchen - one of the first shots taken on my 5D mark ii One of the last shots taken on my 450D - lovemesideways's boy Riddick in centennial park.

My camera is covered under my home and contents insurance - everything had to have serial number quoted to the insurance company and values (+ a little bit extra) to cover them.
