  1. It was awful Tanya, and amazingly today she is just perfect like nothing has happened but I will still keep a close eye on her fir a few days. Hopefully the weather will be better soon so we can all get out. Put the wind up me is an understatement! I feel like I've been hit by a bus today, running fast on the concrete I can tell you not a good look but I just went into overdrive, I didn't panic or lose my cool even soon as I got to her I had the phone and was ringing the vet, thank god I had the phone with me as where we were I sometimes leave it in the car. I'd just taken a short video of the dogs playing just before it happened. What was your boy doing when it happened to him? I'm thinking it was a nerve thing landing wrong and pinched something, it had to be that to be contorted like she was and have nothing broken just nothing short of amazing! Another thing that amazed me was the other dogs, they all came running to see what was wrong, they all seemed very concerned and were all crying in the back of the car on the way to the vet, Sean took them home while I was in the vet and when we got home boy were they glad to see she was ok. I sometimes think we underestimate the bond they have with each other. Someone told me that other dogs will go into attack mode if there is a dog injured? How true is this? Mine only showed concern and wonderment at what was going on. Yes Happy Birthday CB, I just noticed on facey that your birthday was today, hope you have a good one!
  2. Your so right Megan, and I was just this minute thinking exact thing. As much as yesterday gave me the fright of my life I couldn't deprive the dogs the life they are used to, Tully is ball mad and to deprive her of that would be awful. However bouncy balls on concrete will be a no no from now on. My OH is a real stress head he gets himself stressed out when the dogs play with each other as they are so rough but that's just him. I'm usually a what will be will be kind of person but don't take unnecessary risks either.
  3. Oh that's so cute.... Naughty Bruno!!
  4. Sorry Rozzie, I should have said at the beginning everything turned out ok. I think your right re vaccinations! I wondered that also, just kicking myself that I wasn't watching her, it all happened so fast. That's would have been awful, the feeling is just so horrible. I have been really lucky with my dogs over the last 30 years only had a very few instances of absolute dread, a snake bite with my cocker, she survived, a leg stuck in a decking with our old dog, still not sure how a dogs leg can be stuck at a 180 degree angle and not be broken. And a few little dramas like a dislocated toe, and that's about it really. I always feel blessed that I've had such good luck with my dogs over the years so something like this really rocks you. Smooch dog must love that he sleeps with the electric blanket that's so cool. I did feel bad for the vet having dragged him out when seemingly all was ok when we got there, however he did say she was not herself which I agreed with she was kind of like dazed but apart from that seemed fine. Well we survived the night with no dramas, Tully got up to go our for a week about 3 times which is unusual for her but she had drankma lot later on last night so this may have been why. She seems fine this morning. Touch wood all is well.
  5. Thanks MTD, I hope so too, I'm really disappointed in myself as I looked at my slr yesterday and then packed it away in the camera bag. I only seem to snap pics with my iPhone these days. I must make a concious effort to get the camera out very soon. Happy 10th Birthday Spencer xx
  6. We have to go to the vets anyway for her three monthly therapy dog testing, so I will be guided by the vet.
  7. Oh Smooch, that's terrible, you definatley know where I'm coming from then with the shock of the whole incident. my mum had said to me tonight she wondered if Tully had a stroke and I said I thought it was unlikely as she had recovered so quickly afterwards, I thought there would be other signs if that was the case. It just confirms how precious every minute is with them and how quickly things can change. Think Miss Tully will be wrapped in cotton wool at least for the next few days!
  8. I really like my vet, he is very good, not a lt of bed side manner bu knows his stuff, he is also the resident greyhound vet at meets so I'm thinking he would see all sorts of injuries. I'm pretty sure we don't have an acupuncturist in the area. All is well for now, she is sleeping soundly alongside me we are keeping each other warm.
  9. Wow totally awesome shots!! Good luck with your project!
  10. So many kind thoughts for us, thanks everyone. I have a vet appointment Wednesday for Tully to be vaccinated and due for her path testing for Delta so I will get the vet to give her another good going over. Fingers crossed it was just a freak thing. I just can't get the image of her just laying there howling in that horrible twisted up state, very scary and upsetting.
  11. MC, I'd be happy for you guys to meet my gang too, they love kids, especially Cooper and my girls are both Delta dogs and visit the local hospital. But I am sure you are looking to get a purebred, my lot are all cross breeds. Tully is asleep now resting peacfully, I really feel like some one was watching over us today! Hope she continues to be ok.
  12. So glad Piper came good. The wierd thing is now Tully is not displaying any signs of anything even happening, nothing at all. Not a limp not a whimper, she is even laying in her froggy planking position as we speak! The vet said keep her away from the other dogs, which I haven't worried about as they have all been just lazing around since we got home. My thoughts were she landed on her front shoulder/neck, one of her eyes is really blood shot too which I guess would indicate her face planting into the ground. I had to give her a bath as she was covered in wee, so after being dryed with the hairdryer she is now covered up with one of her dog coats to keep her warm.
  13. Thanks Guys, it helps to talk to other like minded dog people. Andisa, we don't have a myotherapist but we do have a doggy chiro in the area, I am just so amazed that she is sitting her like nothing has happened. It even scared the wits out of my OH and he doesn't scare easily. He is saying that she is never to have a ball ever again, and not to take them on the concrete to run. I think that might be a bit of an over reaction but at the moment I feel the same!
  14. Oh me too, and it was just dreadful, I was all good till I got home then I started to cry it just hit me that thank god she is ok but what could have happened. What a sook I am. We've been through a lot in the last few months and I thought all the bad stuff was behind us!
  15. Thanks, Shes seems to be fine now, perhaps a little tentative but she is tired after her run, she didn't wince once when the vet was examining her and he wasn't gentle. She has had her tea now and all seems good touch wood!
  16. Oh how exciting a new puppy/dog. Does she have a name? what color is she? Jj is right about the fencing stuff at Bunnings, but you could be right about needing something high so neither can jump over. I had a shocking experience this evening, still in shock actually. I won't type it all out again I will pop the link to the thread if anyone wants to have a read. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/227595-a-frightening-experience/ Where is Tenties, she is usually about but I have only seen her fleetingly on Facey and thats about it, hope all is well with everyone else.
  17. I had a terrible and most frightening experience today with my white girl Tully, OH and I (thank goodness he was with me, I mostly walk the dogs on my own) took the dogs for a run and Tully was chasing the ball, she loves the ball and is a very athletic little dog, runs like the wind and can jump with ease. All the dogs were running and playing and I threw the ball for Tully and watched her run off after it and turned to go in the other direction and then I heard this awful howl/scream, I turned around to see Tully laying on her back all 4 legs in the air and her head looked like it was on back the front. I took off towards her running it only took about 15 seconds for me to get to her and she looked like she was paralized, She screamed till I got to her then she stopped. She had lost control of her baldder and there was wee everywhere. I thought for sure she had broken her back or neck especially with the strange angle her neck was on. She just looked like she couldn't move, her legs were stiff and so was her head and still on an awkward angle. She was trying to move and then tried to get up, I just held one hand on her to try to keep her still. I grabbed my phone and rang the vet clinic right away and organized the vet to meet me at the clinic. OH put the other 3 back on thier leads and I picked her up, she had tried to get up but I didn't want her to do any more damage. We went straight to the vet clinic (about 7 mins drive from where we were) and she was panting furiously but stood up (I had her on my lap) I held her close incase she had any major damage as I didn't want her to move around incase she did more harm to herself. When I got her out at the vets she was tentative but the vet said put her on the ground and she stood on her own fine, she had a little walk. I explained what had happened to him I put her on the exam table and he gave her good going over to find nothing, no broken bones, no damage that he could see what so ever. I popped her on the ground and he was watching her walk and I told her not to jump up and he said no let her so I can see if she is tentative, so she promply jumed into my arms! I couldn't believe it. He gave her a shot of AI and said just keep an eye on her and he thinks it may have been some soft of soft tissue injury and she had more than likely fell the wrong way after jumping for the ball. It seemed to be the only explaination. I am thinking she may have jumped up for the ball (kicking myself because I took a very bouncy ball and usually I only take a regular tennis ball) and as she has come down she has landed wrong and temporarily paralized herself, perhaps a nerve or something I really don't know, and I wasn't watching her so I didn't see how she landed. I just can't get the image of her just lying there and the screaming out of my head. I honestly thought she had broke her back in two. And then at the vets to be like nothing had happened, I think someone was watching over her today and she really dodged a bullet. All up it was probly about just under a minute that she was in the paralized state, has anyone else had this happen to thier dog and if so what caused it? So glad my girl is ok, she is laying her next to me on the bed fast asleep with the rest of the gang.
  18. Awww she looks so happy. Beautiful shots as usual!
  19. Gorgeous Helen, the sky is sooooo blue! Love it.

  21. that's too funny, maybe he thinks he is French! Give me snails over mice and rats anyday!
  22. I don't blame you, if I didn't work there I wouldn't go their either!! I was in Masters (Bunnings newest rival) yesterday and the kids trolleys there were amazing, not only did they have the little push trolleys but they also had trolleys that looked like cars that the kids sit in. Very cool for kids these days!
  23. Do you shop at Bunnings at all? I may have served you? Next time your in come and say hi. Ask for Barb in Paint.
