What a small world! Hey JJ,apparently I'm cool at work because I know all the cool people namely one very experienced reptile owner/handler I also recommended Aqua life to a very keen fish girl (don't really know what else to call a person who loves fish with a passion) also rendering me cool. Also 2 people at work very keen on owning thier own snakes. Who knew! :D

People say to me all the time gee 4 dogs they must cost you a fortune! It really annoys me because more often than not it is peole with children and pets that make these comments. I usually bite my tounge as I am sick of explaining my reasoning. We have no kids, I work my OH works and we can afford things for us and the dogs. If there did come a time and we fell on hard times, I would probly see the dogs right before myself. And under no circumstances would they ever be rehomed or go to a shelter, you would have to pry them out of my cold dead hands before that would ever happen. I do understand circumstances change and everyone does things differently. Interesting subject interesting answers!!

Ok well that makes sense!

I don't want to start an argument but is it really possible to tell at 10 weeks that a puppy of any breed is show quality and Stud quality? Isn't it a bit young? Just curious, do you show your girl?

I didn't use a crate for my first 3, didn't see the need and had no troubles in any respect. With my 4th dog I used a crate but only for sleeping as he wouldn't settle at night and was a very sooky boy, the crate stayed next to my bed for 1 year and thats where he slept at night. He still sleeps in the crate he is 3 and 1/2 now. I know a lot of people use a crate to aid in toilet training but for me having a puppy means you toilet him/her often and watch and learn to know when it needs to toilet and you put it outside. But thats just me and it worked for me. Have fun with your pup. ps on a side note, with a Std Poo and a Retriever sleeping on the bed where will you sleep.

Adopted 12 Month Old Female Housetraining Issues
tlc replied to Oskar & Zsa Zsa's topic in Puppy Chat
Is she actually doing a full wee or is it just a little bit! Have you had her vet checked? Just to rule out UTI. Other than that it sounds like your doing everything right. -
Registered in what way? As far as I know any dog can compete in Rally o

Hi, not sure I will be much help but it sounds like you are trying a little too hard, if she is happy out leave her out, if she just wants to sit quietly let her. A lot of people would kill to have a lovely calm puppy as the majority of pups are over the top and generally puppy madness. One of my girls is as you have described your and I just went with the flow with her and she has the most amazing temprament and is now a delta therapy dog. After having two puppies that were very full on and playful she was so different. Take her with you every opportunity you get, it is not too late to socialize her now not matter how much or little socialization she had before she came to you. Every little bit and new situations help. We notice at our obedience school pup that come like you have described and within the next two weeks they have come way out of thier shells. Can you take her to any sort of puppy school? this will really help her be more social and bring her out of her shell a bit more. When my guys were tiny puppies, they went everywhere I did as much as possible I think this definatley helps the bonding process but you still have to find a happy medium if you need to leave the pup for any reason, work, school etc puppy still needs to learn that being on its own is not a bad thing too. However it sounds as though you wont have any trouble with this side of things as Aloof puppys tend to not be fussed if you go out and leave them. It is hard to tell from your post if your pup is really just aloof and a bit of a loner or is she is actually frightened, what sort of background has she come from? Other pups in the letter, family she was with? etc etc. Good luck and I am sure there will be others along to give you some excellent advice here. Any pics of your puppy?

Hey I meant to post this little gem of a story yesterday but with one thing and another I totally forgot. Sean and I headed out to bunnings yesterday arvo and as we were going up Mckiernan Road, here was a guy with his dog runnings along side his car at first I thought Holy **** that guy just has his dog running along side of him, then as we got closer I noticed the dog was kind of running funny, it was then I noticed he had the dog on a lead which he was holding out the window. there was even cars behind him trying to get past him. The poor dog look terrified and like it was trying to get away from the car. I could hardly believe my eyes. Sean said wheres the cops when you need em! Certainly some bogans live in this town, bloody unbelievable!!

So true Snook, two of mine are big tv buffs when there is animal shows on and the other two couldn't care less. Funny thing is if the two who watch/bark at the tv do it, Cooper runs off into the other room and starts to bark, he has no clue what he is barking about.

Calling A New Puppy The Same Name As A Dog That Has Passed Away.
tlc replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I couldn't wouldn't do it. For me part of the joy in getting my puppies was giving them thier names, picking them out and making sure they suited the individual pup.
