Sammy The Anti-gardener And His Big Weekend

As Katdogs says Tapua, Harper is not a Lab, but she lives with one - does that make her an honorary one? *grin* My Labrador wasn't anywhere nearly as well bred as yours, and her name is Trouble for a reason - but she does play really well with all of the rescue fosters I have coming through here. So you could say that Harper has been well and truly "Lab tested"... *giggle* Harper actually will stop tugging my pants leg if I tell her to now Katdogs... and she is learning fast that jumping up to demand cuddles doesn't work - 90% of the time now she will sit and look up to ask for her cuddles like a good girl. We are still working on her "boot bandit" thievery... *sigh* T. -
Oh man DD - you don't want to foster puppies then... the little buggers can be up and down in feeding habits from week to week. If you want a dog that will ALWAYS eat ALL of it's dinner then go looking for more even if it's fit to explode... I'll lend you my Labrahoover Trouble for a while... *grin* T.

Just to clear up a few things regarding the posts that were deleted... 1. The person who sent the poster "proof" of certain activities is a disgruntled ex-volunteer who was asked to leave due to compromising the health and welfare of the dogs we had in care at the time. That person also has been cautioned by both the RSPCA and the AWL for her campaign of calling them every day for a number of days claiming that we had 300 breeding bitches here. Both the RSPCA and the AWL came out to inspect the property, and both were more than happy to verify that the accusations were completely untrue. 2. The same ex-volunteer wanted to adopt one of our dogs (at little or no adoption fee) and was rejected as an appropriate home for that particular dog. To say this didn't sit well with her would be an understatement... 3. The dogs mentioned in those emails - which appear to have been doctored up may I add - were all pupy farm evacuees that actually came to us pregnant. All of those dogs were desexed at the same time we desexed their pups, and all bar one have been rehomed - and she's available for adoption right now after being rehbilitated for some behavioural issues she had. Oh - and feel free to send me your email addresses, and I'll happily send you back a forwarded email that looks a lot like it actually came from you - what would you like it to say you are doing with your rescues? T.

So - after my last post here, the jackals have come out on our rescue's Facebook page... funny that... Spouting all the lovely rumours that PR posted about us no less... lol! I don't think they'll ever get it. T.

Sage and Toby are the snuggliest two from that litter PS... excellent choices... lol! T. -
I'd love a brindle Lab... if it wasn't crazy like my current yellow girl... *grin* T.
-
My Lab girl was very "red" when she was a pup - and still goes through phases of being a bit darker than the average yellow at certain times of the year. There is a "red" in Labs, yes? But I've never seen them in Australia... I'd prefer that over chocolate... I'm not a fan of chocolate Labs myself. T.

Milo and Sebastian have been adopted! YAY!!!! That leaves only Oliver and Holly from Blossom's litter still available... We have some appointments for various pups from Daisy's litter over the weekend, so hopefully they will all find new homes for themselves too... T. -
I was looking at her photos and thinking exactly the same thing Aussie3... but I think it's just her colouring that makes us think that. Her ears are way too small for a start... lol! Here's a couple of pics of her mum a few days before Harper's litter were born - and she came to us like that from the pound. We have no idea what dad may have been - maybe some AmStaff cross?? All of the other pups in the litter look like Staffy crosses - 2 white with blue patches, 3 brindle, 1 black and white, and 1 black, and Harper of course... T.

You know we will be needing photos once you get her home, don't you? *grin* T.

Seriously - people are STILL spreading that one around? You'd think they'd get more creative over time, wouldn't you? All I have to say is that I wouldn't want to be the one who pays our desexing bill at the vet... and it's a bit hard to breed from a dog with no uterus, isn't it? How about I fuel her fire by saying that I have no hesitation to give a broken dog it's wings... but unlike rehoming it to some other poor sap to take on the burden, I will actually be the one there holding the dog as it goes from this earth. Rescue is by no means for the faint of heart (or bleeding of heart for that matter) - sometimes the hard decisions need to be made and then acted upon. There are laws about truth in advertising that PR are blatantly breaking with their "save this particular dog" blurbs pasted all over the internet. Lying by omission is still lying... T.

I don't think she's going to be too huge Alkhe... I'm tipping about AmStaff height, but maybe not as chunky. She's quite a lean build with long supermodel legs - which makes her feet look bigger than they actually are. T.
-
I have been avoiding that thread happypaws... I seriously have so many puppy toys already... *grin* T.
-
She's definitely a unique colouring - I have never seen anything quite like it before, but it's most becoming, don't you think? It all came together in a perfect little package I reckon. So sign of allergies or anything like that, which can be a concern with a dog of the "blue" variety and of unknown parentage. So far she's coming along great guns - and I think she's having a growth spurt right now... she's eating like a horse! Last week she was more grazing than eating a meal in one sitting. Puppies can be funny like that I've found - some eat like horses all the time, and some just go up and down as their growth spurts happen. My fave time of all is in the evenings when I veg out in front of the TV and Harper snuggles up to me and we both end up asleep on the couch... which is what I'm about to go do now... *grin* T.
-
Hehe! Even with crazy eyes and flappy ears, she's beautiful to me... *grin* I am so in love with her... *sigh* T.

That last shot is a corker! Flying Frenchie! T.

Simple answer dogmad? I'd assume that the pounds may be worried about retaliation if they refused or revoked the 16D... You have seen how these people operate, and how fanatical some of their followers are, hven't you? I'd be somewhat worried about their possible reactions if I were to intentionally try to stop them doing what they are doing... errr! T.
-
OK - more photos of my baby girl... taken this afternoon. T.
-
So, when a dog is released from a pound under the Pound Rounds Clause 16D, whose name is it going into? Theoretically speaking it should be going into the name of whoever holds that 16D, yes? Under that premise, Pound Rounds would/should be the ones assuming liability from that point on if they "rehome" the dog to someone else, yes? T.
-
Ain't she just? And we both love each other to death which is the icing on the cake... *grin* T.

My Lab's pups some years ago weighed in at 500g each at birth - and she had 9 of them! They grew at a rate of knots too, probably because my girl had mega boobies to rival Dolly Parton's... The largest pup in that litter weighed 9.3 kgs at 10 weeks old. My vet adopted one of the smaller males, and he ended up at around 36kgs lean... so I don't think Katdogs' Buddha Boy is doing too badly there... lol! It will be funny to see him and my pup playing together when he's had all his shots - she's 8 weeks older than him, so she might be reasonably even with him when they can play. T. -
Happy Gotcha Day Ziggy!! T.
-
I'm pretty certain that she's going to have her current eye colour forever... just one a darker shade than the other. I don't mind though - she has very pretty eyes I reckon... especially when she sits so nicely and looks up at me wanting a cuddle... *grin* T.
