2 New Arrivals At Nswar
tdierikx replied to tdierikx's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Little bugger just screamed for 10 minutes straight when put in the pen with her siblings. Sat there and screamed while watching the door to see if I was coming back. Everyone else just toddled off to the bed and settled down... They've all had the run of the whole back yard most of the day, interspersed with me going out for cuddle sessions when I got jack of doing house work. Most of them had gone into the pen and off to beddies already when I went out to put them away for the evening... except Harper, who scampered up to me straight away when I came out the door... She's finally quiet and joined them in bed now... *sigh* T. -
Ummm... the broken English makes me think.... SCAM! Sounds a lot like the ones that take your money then you never hear from them again... Run away! Good things come to those who wait, remember. A waiting list is good... T.

What Treat Does Your Dog Likes The Most?
tdierikx replied to Niki8's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lamb puffs (dried lamb lung) is a big fave here... but my Lab thinks anything I give her is yummy... *grin* I call her a Labrahoover... lol! I actually tend to treat my dogs with pieces of their dinner kibble - works just as well as other treats. T. -

Daisy Boo's babies are all booked in for desexing this week... will be ready for adoption very soon! They are lovely pups and will not be hard to rehome at all methinks. T. -

Ummm... fast losing my heart to our little blue fawn brindle girl... and she has picked me as her fave thing on the planet... Should I have another foster failure? I only have 3 other permanent dogs, and can fit another on the bed... and still will have room for other fosters... *grin* I used to have 5 dogs, and 4 IS my "magic" number really. Current 3 dogs are 13, nearly 7, and 2 years old. T. -
The New Pet Rescue Site?
tdierikx replied to Aphra's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
We never recieved any emails either... but that could have been due to the problem with PR changing mail services and our web/mail host seeing it as spam. Personally, I haven't had any issues when listing dogs - I even created a few dummy ones when I was trying to fix the mail problem. I checked out the Q&A section - there is very little there in the way of answers to peoples' issues. I had a couple of workmates try to find dogs they would be interested in as a purely general public search - and they gave up after a couple of tries... and these people are IT professionals. The general concensus was that it's too hard to navigate, and things aren't presented logically, which makes the site almost useless for anyone looking for anything specific. I'm fast losing confidence in the new PR site as a place to advertise our dogs. I know PR is free, but Gumtree is actually starting to look like a viable alternative at this point... errr! C'mon PR - the backend hard stuff has been done - please get the people in who did the site and have them redesign the front end to something more usable for all, or you are going to lose your hard earned place as the site to go to when looking for a rescue dog. Female Kelpie X Border Collie Needing A Home
tdierikx replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
First thing you might want to do then is to call the council that the dog was under when with this person and find out whether it has an actual order on it, or just a notice of intent to issue one. May I ask if the dog "became" an outdoor dog once they realised it wasn't a little pup any more? Withdrawal of affection can have bad effects on some dogs - and what is another worry is that it wasn't interested in at least checking out your pack once you went inside, but was more intent on getting YOUR attention... T. -
Oh no!! King was a great dog in every respect... my heart goes out to Steve for the loss of his mate. When I did the course a few years ago, as a Rotti lover, I managed to get myself kisses from King... *grin* T.

Sounds like the dog needs a job to do that will tire her out mentally and physically so that she doesn't get anxious when she is alone. It's not going to be easy to rehome a dog with a nuisance order on it in NSW... those things are a bugger to get removed. But they don't necessarily follow a dog interstate... I do hope you find a solution for this pup... T. -
They should have videoed ALL of the course... it's pretty in depth and informative. Nice to see he didn't use King as the attack dog too - Chilli doesn't look as scary as a well muscled Rotti... *grin* T.

My disabled camp dog Pickles destroyed a metal crate when she was only 5 months old... bent and stretched the 4mm metal bars with her teeth and clibmed out through the gap she made. And she had a broken leg at the time and was supposed to be on cage rest! My Pittie cross girl can't do that!! Nor can my Lab! I think the only thing that may contain Pickles would be weld mesh like what you use for fences... *grin*... but it would be a bugger to move around - that stuff is HEAVY! T.

Don't worry too much about the Cavs in Renbury just yet Squidgy... Renbury have a great track record for working with rescue. I'm sure they will have rescue options in no time flat... *grin* T.

The New Pet Rescue Site?

I've been corresponding with PR about our email bounce problem - which may now be fixed may I add. It looks like our web/mail host suddenly decided that it didn't like any email from DOL and PR - so I ended up having to raise a ticket with the host to unblock at a higher level than I could access from the control panel. What a nightmare! T. -

GRRRR!!! This is bloody ridiculous! I've had to resort to sending a support ticket to the webhost to see if they can unblock the bloody things... Oh - and they are also blocking email from DOL now too - so I asked them to unblock that too... *sigh* Now you know why I have a gmail account... I've got a thumping headache now... gonna check the ticket status in the morning, OK? T. -

PR suggest you put 0000000000 as a phone number if you want people to email you instead. T. -

We saw an upsurge in applications when PR were listing on TP... and it's another place people go to look for a pet - gets a lot of traffic... T. -
I'd be getting X-rays done before agreeing with ED as a diagnosis. And get more than one opinion on said X-rays... My brother's Lab was suspected as having ED when he was about the same age as your pup - not a sign of it on X-rays at age 6... turns out my brother was over exercising the dog by going on long rambling walks and it was actually tendon strain during growth spurts causing the limp. Are the Petrescue listings going to the trading post any more? Just a thought... T. -
Reputable rescues will ALWAYS notify the breeder of a purebred dog of it's situation and offer to let them take it back. Reputable rescues will also notify the breed club or breed rescue of said dog if the breeder can't take it in. Please don't tar all rescues with the ugly brush... we're not all cowboys... T. You sure about that ? So if they have a policy of not allowing the dog to go home to the breeder do we assume they are not reputable? Most of the reputable rescues I deal with have no qualms about returning a pedigreed dog back to its breeder - if the breeder wants it back... Why would a reputable rescue have a policy of NOT contacting a reputable breeder (if known) to see if they want the dog back? *NB: I don't class the RSPCA as a reputable rescue... *grin* So - yes - I'd suppose I'd say any rescue that has a POLICY of refusing to work with a reputable breeder in the interest of the dog in question is NOT a totally reputable rescue... but then that would be MY opinion... T.

Mine isn't anything flash, and the pups are only in it when I'm at home and otherwise engaged - the green garden shed on the right side is a 12' x 6' job. T.

I have always loved this one of one of my fosters and my Lab... T.

Hims is gorgeous!!! Me wants!! T.
