  1. Thankyou so very much, its really lovely!
  2. Wow you guys really have some horrer stories! All those poor dogs I worked in a vet clinic for a few years and was forced to do some "grooming" on occasion. The amount of people we got in asking if we could do this kind of clip or another when it was always clearly stated that we would only clip all the hair off and be done with it. Off cause people never listened and when they came to pick up their dog often asked what we had done to them But what really made me angry was the people who couldn't just give the dog a quick brush each night! I can't understand how hard it is. If you don't want to care for the coat, don't get a long haired breed! It's pretty simple. There are plenty of nice short coated dogs out there. I recently got a Samoyed and I brush him every night (thankfully he likes it and sits there calmly while my Lab, who thinks he's an afgan waits his turn), it really dosn't take very long. I just pop him up on his table and do it while watching tv. Easy.
  3. Hi guys, if its possible could someone make me a sig, lord knows I've tried but photoshop and I don't get along so well Anything you could do would be great My boys Lestat (the only good shot of him ever taken ) and Mistral Thanks! Leena
  4. Yeah I highly suspect that might be the issue as well. He does seem to be getting better since he hasnt worn it for the last few days. Luckily enough he walks well on a lead and collar and only has to wear a harness in the car.
  5. Your boy is stunning! I adore Lappies  I hope you have heaps of fun with him.
  6. My 12 week old Samoyed is scratching his sides a lot recently and I am wondering why. I have looked for any kind of skin irritation and it all looks normal, no redness, no bites, no flea dirt, no ticks, no hot spots and no hair loss. It started last Sunday when he was wearing his harness on a car trip and he has been doing in ever since, could the harness have been the cause? He hates wearing his collar and is always scratching at it but would he still be scratching so many days later? Or is it maybe something to do with him being a long haired dog? I groom him every secound day as I was told to do but this is my first long coated dog and don't really know what to expect. He dosn't seem to be too uncomfortable but I am worried that if he keeps doing it he will end up hurting himself. Thanks in advance
  7. I use a modified Borders bag right now but am thinking about getting something a little more sturdy as we go along and I get more grooming tools.

    Snobby Pup!

I have recently had a very similar problem with my sammie pup who is now 12 weeks old. Neither of my dogs will touch Advance (and i have a Lab!!!) and mistral is a very fussy eater. He was on Super coat but we have slowly put him on Optimum which he actually seems to like a lot more, but still eats very slowly . I have put my pup on fresh meat, rices, veggies, sardines, tuna is very popular and just add a little kibble. He loves that.
  9. My Lab did this a lot as a puppy and still hasn't stopped. If we leave him in his run when its raining without fail, 5 minuets later he is laying down on his back letting the rain fall in his mouth.
  10. Big thanks to everyone for their ideas! Its been a great help
  11. His poos are healthy and he seems to be very active and happy, just a little on the thin side. And no he really does not like the weet bix at all, he will try to drink the milk as quickly as he can before it soaks up into the weet bix. I tried the sardines and he just loves that, and cheese is a big hit so far.
  12. I have him on exactly what the breeder suggested. But he really seems to hate what the breeder had him on, I was told to give him puppy milk and weet bix for breakfast and then for the other three meals supercoat and advanced mixed with raw meat. He will pick at the kibble but will only eat the meat and he really dosnt like the weet bix breakfast.
  13. I have been slightly concerned with my samoyed pup the last few days and I am not sure exactly what is going on. Mistral is about 11 weeks old now and is very very active when he is awake, always full of energy and playing very happily. But he has started losing weight, he seems to be too thin, I can feel his hips and spine, ribs have a little covering of fat but can still be felt very easily. He is defiantly growing (he has real trouble getting under our Lab now, where as last week he could zoom around under him with ease) and has no problems drinking and has a few issues with his dry food but I am slowly changing it over to freash meats and pastas which he seems to like a lot he also gets puppy milk as a treat. Is it normal for a puppy to drop weight at this age?
  14. My Samoyed pup does this with my Lab. The Lab had no idea what to do when he first did it and then when he understood what was going on decided it was the best game ever!
  15. No, no children in the house.
  16. I have recently brought home a beautiful little Samoyed puppy who is currently about 10 weeks old. I have noticed that when he has something in his mouth that he really shouldn't be eating, and my partner or I try to take it from him he gets very nasty, runs away and tries to hide with it, growls at us and even snapps sometimes. Its only with things he shouldnt have, we can easily take the toys and play with them, he dosn't care. I have tried giving him something else that he can have but he still dosn't want to have anything to do with it. I have had dogs before and never had this problem. I really don't want this to get any worse as he grows up. Has anyone else had this problem? I really don't know what to do with him!
