  1. Same WA is quite accepting of it too I'd say, looking like we might be heading towards the Tassie level of acceptance At Friday night's obedience trial they set up a ring for Rally to coincide with the trial. While I would have liked to see more people give it a go, it was great exposure and my girls loved it :D
  2. Awesome video of Scoota, he's more than just occasionally clever!!
  3. You make my training sound almost pathetic All I've been doing in the backyard is building Ruby's enthusiasm to bring the dummy back and present it nicely. I really don't know where to go from here to teach more advanced stuff, which is the biggest reason for the retrieving training never going anywhere over the past couple of years... I am going to start on training the sit and come to whistle. That is hopefully my summer project, however, when it's so hot, I find I lack motivation to train and if I'm lacking motivation, you can bet Ruby is lacking it even more!! I also need to teach her to not shake when she exits the water until after she hands me the dummy. I am trying to get her to recognise the "shake" command so that she will only shake on command, to help prevent her doing it at her own will, but this is a toughie. And little access to water to train this is not progressing this goal very much at all I would love some tips on teaching direction and some of the advanced things I will need to teach (please explain backs and overs? ). I need to learn first what all these things are, not just how to teach them, if that makes any sense! So if you anyone can let me know what things I should be teaching that I will need, and then some tips on how to teach them, I'd be very grateful!!
  4. Great work, RallyValley!!! Have you got yours and Lexi's, too? If it isn't too much trouble, can you please email me mine? I brought my laptop last night to get them off you but there wasn't really a chance to do it was there I hope Scoota's UDX round makes it to youtube as I got to see most of it but missed half the seekback with decoy and positions in motion cos I promised to film someone in the CCD ring, which was on at the same time. UDX is as follows (from http://users.lavalink.com.au/theos/obedience.htm): Seek Back with Decoy article Positions in Motion Scent Discrimination - Judges scent Directed Sendaway and Recall Distance Control Multiple Retrieve Temperament test
  5. At a VERY BIG PINCH they will allow you to have a puppy if you already have two dogs but one is desirable.I have four so I am totally out and the reason they do that is they don't want the puppies to form a pack mentality. My neibour has one 15 year old dog and a two year old golden retriever that didn't make it as a guide dog and a 12 moth old puppy that is due to go back. Thanks for that info :D Now, just to solve the full time working part
  6. RosieFT - yep I've seen the latest range at BP&G and almost bought some from there, but again I held off because I wanted my same pattern, different colour thing :D I wanted an orange collar too for Millie cos I thought it would look nice with her coat Oh and about the length of leads, I hate long leads too so my last set I had mum cut down for me ;) The set I just bought off etsy, I requestd a 4 foot lead as I think anything longer is a disaster! 3 foot is more my style. I can't handle 6 foot ;) The girls slip leads I bought though are 5 foot, but they aren't used for walking, they were purchased for retrieving/agility. Annie, bugger I missed the 10% off sale! BP&G also let you take your dogs into the store. I'd assume you can with PetStock also, though I'm not sure. Tiggy - how did Bear like his first outing? It's so hot outside already, think we'll be spending the day indoors!!
  7. Well done Amy and Kyzer on your AD!!!! Shame I missed the first half, why didn't you come grab me to let me know you were on so I could have filmed it!! Well done also to xena98 and DSO!! Games trials sound fun! Yes I have a brag, my Ruby Roo had her first Novice Jumping trial tonight (a first for me too!!) and we not only got a clear round, we got 1st in 500, and 1st overall being the only qualifier! My tired, clever girl!!
  8. more of the same tonight then ? oops sorry remembered you are entered will be there cheering you on ! I suspect more of the same, regardless of being entered! I'll be nervous just before my run but determined to just "be cool" and will definitely have some fun ;)
  9. From the website someone posted: Like a field trial wouldn't be nerve-racking enough, without the Queen judging it
  10. Last night's trial was the most stress-free trial I've ever been at. Might have been due to the fact that I wasn't entered ;) But I put both girls through the Rally-O course that was set up I got to relax, watch people and their dogs in the ring, sit around and drink/eat, had a great time I know this isn't the brags thread but I think Ptolomy should be having a bit of a brag about her night
  11. ST thanks, yep her collars are what I like, I've looked at them before However, I just finally made my purchase on etsy for the spotted colours. I don't like them as much as I did about a year ago when I first saw them, but they will do I'm just sick of the sight of their existing ones that I will take just about anything ;) I spend heaps on the dogs, more than myself but I think the price for a bit of fabric and a clip is excessive, so next time I think I will just buy a plain lead and change just the collars
  12. I knew the no tags for agility, but then I was told that tags were not allowed in the obedience ring! I prefer them off as well, they jingle too much (and because I used to remove them for obedience, I ended up losing my tags!!!) Anyway once I forgot to take them off and the judge told me they aren't allowed but just this once they can make an exception, just remember for next time as the next judge might not be so leanient. I was shocked, I didn't recall reading it was an obedience rule! Plus, if it really was a rule, then they shouldn't have made the exception
  13. A few of us will be there showing and doing agility. If you wanna take photos, Ruby would looooove some action agility shots!!! I think we're all trying to set up early to sit together and have round 2 of tonight's gathering! So come look for us. I had soooo much fun tonight at the obedience trial, it was the most stress-free and relaxing trial I've had in ages! ......probably because I wasn't entered!! But the food and drinkies was great
  14. Now there is an idea. If I did that, I could update the collars more often which would satisfy my collar needs! Collars are like new handbags, gotta update all the time! It's just lately I've been slack! I still like them matching, though
  15. Im showing both saturday and sunday!!! I hope you will be joining us for the last class of Zumba for the year on Wed night? Zumba lady keeps spamming us via sms to remind us to come Not sure
  16. So who will be at K9 this weekend and for what doggy related activity? When is the show on?
  17. I consider spending around $100 for a collar and lead set for the dogs expensive! From the site Ptolomy posted, it would cost $140 and not even including postage, for 2 collar/lead sets, crazy!!!! Why do you think the poor sods have had the same set for goodness knows how long :D (That and I am a fussy bugger when it comes to getting things to match!) My dogs aren't princesses, they only think they are, so no crystal collars for them From the website you posted though it is only around $100 for both sets then I can't imagine postage would be that huge... maybe another $25 since they aren't bulky items. That can be the dogs' Christmas present $100 for a bit of fabric that go around their necks on the rare occasion is expensive to me. I mustn't be making the big bucks like you folk it seems :D Edit: I can't be the only one who thinks the prices of collars and leads are a bit excessive? :p

  19. They are from http://www.walkewoo.com - but yes, that site you posted is selling that brand (and putting a huge markup on it in the process! ) I am probably going to buy from etsy. There are a couple of sellers who are making their own collars using the same ribbon. Should cost me a heck of a lot less to do it that way!!!
  20. I was thinking the same thing However, I'm not a bling person!! Good thing I'm not into ponies! Wanting puppies is bad enough!
  21. These are what I have wanted for a while, but very cha-ching!!!
  22. I think the cream leather bling collar would look fab on ruby and the choc brown leather bling for Millie Mason has the black bling Not that I want bling, but where can I see these?
