  1. There was someone there last week who had a big R and L written on their respective hands You could always try that, or on your feet! While you have a helping hand for yourself, I love these shirts that are a helpinghand for your dogs This one has been posted before but I love it Or one for the agility dog
  2. Me neither, unfortunately Will concentrate on my current two ratbags, they and I still have so much to learn before I go and ruin a puppy! Can't wait until I can dedicate a lot of time to a new pup, so that won't be until my two are in "maintenance training mode"!
  3. You know I love being picked on! No better way to learn
  4. This also sounds very similar to a Golden Retriever. Though I would have said a Lab is a bit more independent! Anyone who owns a GR, are you able to indicate if any of the above is true in your breed too, or not? I think a GR is a bit more of a sensitive dog than a Lab (I don't mean that in a bad way). Very "sunshine and rainbows" kind of personality while Labs are "go go go!!"
  5. Congras ♥♫PD888♫♥ on your win with your baby Whippet!!! Maybe Rach will fulfill that dream for you
  6. I can't speak for agility or conformation, but I have obedience the 3 weeks out of the 4 in September! I blame Cider if I switch to the red side She is just too adorable!
  7. And why aren't you training Mondays anymore It's all yours, emery
  8. You did need to win your height for an agility rosette. Jenna got second and didn't get anything. Made up for it this week by getting a rosette and trophy though. Slowest first place she has ever won ;) And next time there is a fundraising trial for obedience tell us and I am sure between us DOLers we could cover 4 rosettes Slow and steady wins the race!!! Well that has to be my motto, no way a Lab is gonna win on speed! Well, unless your name is Millie, she could give anyone a run for their money... however, she won't stop looking at me long enough to take more than one jump ;)
  9. Cool ;) And Maccas is very close too so I might have to force myself to eat something before the trial for a change Last time I did Cloverdale was last year, and I got a coffee and Ruby spilt it all over the back of my car ;)
  10. Yes it's Sunday but it's at Cloverdale. Even closer to home. ;) Cool, can I hire you to come and work my video camera?
  11. Yes it's Sunday but it's at Cloverdale.
  12. I'd like a pretty ribbon ;) You have to enter Sophie first for a chance Your almost "debut" trial is next weekend, you should have entered!
  13. Yes see bedazzled feels my pain, she topped Open and UD and got nothing either Had we competed in agility, we'd have gotten nice pretty rosettes and I don't think you needed to have won either to get one I like trophies and ribbons/rosettes, even though they are currently collecting dust in my drawer! But I may set up a bookcase with them But the cooler bags and stuff you can use at trials is great! I have only ever won a "prize" twice, one was the cooler bag which I love, comes in handy! The other was a bag of Advance, for small breeds! So I gave it to mum and dad for their maltese I find it odd that the majority of breeds competing are medium/large, yet the food on offer is for small breeds ;)
  14. I plan on doing the ET next year as well Gotta start training for it properly yet! If there are 2 ET's a year(??) then I hope to do both girls in the same year.
  15. DIBS!!!!! Oh darn, just saw emery got in first
  16. What a great idea ;) I've been told to look up and straight ahead when heeling to ensure I walk straight, but I lose all connection with my dog and I don't like it. I am not looking at my dog when I have my head down, but I can see her in my peripheral vision and maintain that connection that I need. I need to find a nice medium between the both to help me walk straight!!
  17. Bummer Seita and Sue & Cindy!! Better luck at the next one ;)
  18. Awww huski I'm sorry I totally understand the nerves thing! I get soooo nervous with Ruby because I have no idea what she is going to throw at me that trial. She'll either work great or work like she's never set foot in a ring before! And then she always manages to embarrass me by either running off to the stewards or the judge to jump on, or gives the judges kisses in the SFE You and Daisy work GREAT, you just have some nerves to get over and you guys will be knocking those passes over in no time!!! She's already proven she is more than capable in a Novice setting so just take a deep breath and relax cos you have the lead for this one! It only sometimes help me to think this way, but when it does it is worth it - I figure, I can be nervous as hell desperately wanting a pass, but when it ends in us bombing out, being nervous didn't change the outcome in the end, it probably contributed to bombing. I have also noticed my walking style is more stiff when I'm nervous and I get some pretty bad heelwork, so when I walk a bit more casually, I usually get better results. I am guessing my more laidback walking style is making the dog feel more at ease. I'm looking forward to the night time trials, so then I might down a Cruiser before I walk into the ring and see if that helps my nerves ;) Can't really do that at morning trials (without getting weird looks) ;)
  19. Great stuff RubyStar Rubystar should be mighty proud of herself - her kids both worked well on the weekend and she is one very neat tidy handler. Novice handlers could learn a lot from watching her take a bow Rubystar Rubystar I just watched your vid and I have to agree with ptolomy!!! Your handling is a joy to watch as are your dogs!! They just love working with you!! Well done with millie's fab score too!! Thankyou. I can't seem to walk in a straight line, though, very embarrassing Do you have videos of your kids? Would love to see them, especially Kinta in Open!
  20. Congrats LP on your kiddies awesome work!!!! Wow only 1 more pass to go for Kinta's CDX, she's gonna have that in no time and with 2 or 3 first places to boot And well done Leo, I can't ever imagine being in UD so that is just fantastic work! Congrats Sal and Kenzie, great job!!!!! Also congrats to TrinaJ and your girl Hope I haven't missed any brags!
  21. I compete for me. I've finally found something in my life I am passionate about, that I enjoy immensely, and gives me something to do and aim for. My dogs enjoy training, they can't stand when it's not their turn! My dogs are also happy in the ring (obedience). Some days Ruby is away with the fairies, but she is still out there enjoying herself. The day that my dogs don't jump around wanting it to be their turn to train, is the day I won't ask them to anymore. They also are really enjoying agility, but we are a while off competing in that one. I will compete in agility too when the time is right because I'm competitive and aiming for those titles gives me some purpose Otherwise I'd be sitting at home with nothing else to do! And I wouldn't have made all the new friends I have if it weren't for trialling
