  1. Yep no worries, will bring it along Sunday
  2. I'm so sorry vCBR, thinking of you during this time ;) Pass on hugs to her from all of us here.
  3. My girl who I believed would probably be the dominant one when I brought a new dog home, proved to be quite submissive when the second dog came along. She lets the other one walk all over her. My poor girl can't get hugs in with me when the other is around. Every opportunity we get when the other is not in the same room, we meet for a "secret rendezvous" She either comes to me for cuddles or I call her to me and she just loves it, because when the other is present she usually swings her butt around to get her out of the way :D I am very grateful though that she doesn't challenge her, or it would have the potential to get ugly.
  4. Any chance you could bring the crate with you tomorrow? :D How many more weeks til puppy comes home??
  5. Wow, that's one old dog ... Yes a 100 year old still fertile dog, its a world record . Seriously though thats what gets to me about these dogs. Chessies have been in development since the 1800's and have had a unified starndard since the early 1900's and some idiots who want a "non shedding labrador" think they can make a breed. Get a poodle if you want a non shedding dog, get a lab if you want a lab. ;) Not that I am for the Labradoodle, but they are probably trying to achieve what the Chesapeake people back in the 1800's and everyone else did to standardise their new breed. In 100 or so years time this "breed" (or any others, my argument isn't soley based on Labradoodles) could well be ANKC recognised as they have managed to standardise it, and will be in the same position as Chessie people and could well be using the same argument as you are. I just hate close mindedness to new breeds as all breeds evolved somewhere along the line. As long as it is done right, why not. But I do hate that the DD is cashing in on what could be a standardised new breed. Agree with whoever said to ditch the name though and come up with a new one if they ever want a chance to be taken seriously as a new standalone breed! Hmm I don't see any similarity at all. Chessie people were breeding dogs that were sound and with good retrieving ability and stamina to dogs with similar apperance and ability to create the ultimate retrieveing dog for the conditions of the Chesapeake bay. This is why the breed was developed, for a purpose, not for $$ or fashion. If they found a labrador poodle cross had magic cancer detection abilities and they selected for that as well as appearacnce/breeding to standard ect I would be all for it. But at the moment it seems like all they are doing is robbing the labrador and poodle gene pools for a quick buck. As I said, my argument isn't necessarily about the Labradoodle and I am in no way condoning breeding crossbreeds for profit and pet market. But any "breed" that is bred for a purpose and is breeding against a standard they are working towards, keeping registries, etc. should not automatically be condemned just because they aren't ANKC recognised as yet. All breeds started somewhere. Just saying
  6. That is great!! I thought the best bit was the retrieve with jump - the way those back legs spread out was hilarious Great stuff
  7. Kyzer too Jumping Dog - LOL sounds silly. Yep Ruby too! Companion Dog - like she wasn't already one to me, though Millie had an entry under trial results

  9. Amy, we will have to do Wed night Zumba soon me thinks! And anyone else who wants to join us PD888 - how did Zumba go the other night? Is it worth us going along?
  10. Woohoo go Brookie!! He must grace the cover at least every second publication Millie has her very first mention in the Canine News I had to show her her name printed
  11. I wouldn't fancy riding a bike through the sand!!
  12. Oh of course it was both nights! Thanks ;) Brookie was fantastic, two 200 scores that weeknd am I right bedazzled? If I recall, Beans actually beat out Scoota in Open and went in for winner of winners at the State trial, go little Beans! Thanks vCBR! I bought a new video camera after last years state trial cos Ruby did some awesome work, and she hasn't pulled off anything like that since Little cow! You still coming this Sunday?
  13. Katie will be so jealous! You're right My heart aches when I think about Guide Dogs and Guide Dog puppies. Don't ask
  14. And Rach, you are inviting me along, aren't you? (deadly serious!!!)
  15. Wondered where you got to - I needed someone to do some SFE for me!! ;) It wasn't too cold actually. Unless you were on the receiving end of an unfortunate incident like Amy involving your jacket
  16. You are braver than me, I would be way too embarrassed to train right near a shop besides Mason would do NO work , he is too easily distracted The "advantage" of training a Labrador in public spaces, a lot of people think you're training a Guide Dog So you don't get as many crazy looks, you more get people watching on in interest.
  17. Perth obedience people - can you please tell me if the Winner of Winners runoff was for the State trial or National trial last year? Just curious!
  18. The weirdest looks you get is when you train your dogs outside the shops. I work near the door as it has the largest flow of people (obviously ) with the added bonus of the door opening on its own being distracting and potentially frightening People sitting inside Chooks yesterday were glaring at me outside. But then you get the kids who love to watch and tell their mum "look there's that big doggy again!" I think the trolley boy thought I was weird, and the guys at the ATM probably thought I was doing something dodgy when I would walk past them quite close several times
  19. I've been to Augusta once.... what the heck is there to do for a family holiday?! ;) It was like a dead end to nothing ;)
  20. I know that's what you meant ;) I was just saying I haven't had time at all this morning to read it anyway
  21. Yay Kyzer's title should be in there too! Ahahah you could have been reading it this whole time! Nah I only just got to work after having TAFE this morning. Checking DOL out while I eat lunch then I best do some work! No doubt I will be back... I like leaving the window open
  22. I would hate to win wine, don't drink the stuff!
  23. Hi emery, what's childbirth got to do with the Canine News arriving? ;) Yay I have something to read when I get home from training.... very sad that I like reading my Canine News! Ohhh hopefully Ruby's title will be printed in there Yes, I get excited over small things Annoying thing is I was at the car this morning as the postie pulled up, and I couldn't be bothered going out there to get the mail off him and then thought I will just check the mailbox when I get home cos it won't be anything interesting. Poo!
  24. Aren't we all (we as in the DOlers who have been in the WA thread posting all day ) I wouldn't get any work done if I could go on DOL at work Ptolomy you should do a group dancing number with the red kids Shall we call them "Ptolomy and the Twinkle-Toed Tollers"?
  25. We rarely get prizes but it does happen. So far I've won a cooler bag (obviously a freebie as it has Advance written on it, but I don't care!) and a bag of Advance food. I think it's nice to get sponsors to donate things like that. Free for the club to give away, advertising for the product, and the entrant walks away with goodies
