  1. One, ten! They will make me feel better when Ruby greets the stewards in the heelwork, when she jumps on the judge in the SFE, when she looks at me like she's never seen the drop signal in her life before in the DOR, shall I go on?
  2. Well the Bunbury double header obedience trial is tomorrow... and bugger it if we don't get a pass tomorrow cos I baked COOKIES! nom nom nom...
  3. OMG did you dong someone on the head? ;) Now most importantly - who was it and do you have it on video?!
  4. What a meanie!!! I should be there, Rach P.S. if you have gotten it back, you should bring your training assignment with you where you featured Ruby, still would love to see it!
  5. Great video! Like bedazzled posted, be careful of your hand position in the recall. If you want your hands in front of you after you recall her, get into the habit of putting them there before you recall her, too She's a clever girly and is doing well
  6. I've thrown the dumbell a couple of times and had it rebound off the solid jump post So thankful that has only been in training, though! Waiting for my first real embarrassing dumbell mishap in a trial yet. It's bound to happen soon with my disgraceful throwing skills!! I am trying to get it right, believe me I am That is why I love being picked on My "sit" signal in distance control is not as neat as I would prefer at this point in time and has changed almost as many times as I have changed my underpants in the past month, but the current one seems to be working best so once the girls are a bit more solid I might refine it to something less bold? I'm basically using my right arm and pointing it directly into the air above my head. Poor Ruby, she's my guinea pig with those whole training/trialling thing! One day I'll get it together
  7. I have a stack of before and afters, but need to take a stack more now that most reno jobs are done! Well it was a 1950's job. Sure they had different tastes back then, but even so, how could you possibly think using 3 different tiles (and in such a small area) is appealing?! I can't believe I lived on it for 6 months before I arranged a tiler ;) (kinda had no choice, lack of $$!) The floor was levelled out with concrete as it sloped quite a bit and then the new tiles were put on straight over, so most of the old tiles were covered with the concrete. The sleepout had that wood floor look vinyl which was almost as bad, so I had that levelled as well and tiled the same as the laundry (as its the room right next to the laundry). Getting rid of that and the purple walls/apricot trims has made a world of difference!!
  8. No worries, glad it went to such a good use Don't let mirawee near your dogs, she breaks perfectly good down stays for some sick personal amusement :)
  9. Your signals are lovely and neat! You're an "over arm" dumbell thrower, I don't see many of those! I'm a real crap throw myself, but got a dumbell throwing tip on Monday night from a fellow Lab owner and it really did improve my throws! I'm still more than capable of throwing some awful ones, but managed to throw quite a few straight ones in a row :D It's all in the flick of the wrist I'm an "under arm" thrower for the dumbell. I might have to get a few practice sessions in before this weekend P.S. If you're not in the ring when I am this weekend, hopefully you can check out my newly amended signals in DOR and distance control and see if they're any better than the last trial And if not, give me a stern picking on :D
  10. Do mean cctv cameras? I've never really lived in the big cities where these are now omnipresent, so haven't had that feeling of big brother watching me all the time However I've yet to go to a shop in the UK where they routinely search bags as you leave ps not really having a dig, I'm loving it here so far :D I love how in the UK you can (apparently?) take your dogs into most shops, just not food shops. So it is not strange to take your dog into the bank, the post office, on the train (tuuube?!), bus, etc. Wish we were a country that loved our dogs more!
  11. Just the Wellington Surplus Store :D That's what I was gonna say Come shopping in the city tomorrow night Amy, I'll join ya after work
  12. The city is open late night Friday I feel for people like you emery (I did a 4 year stint at K-Mart) BUT I think Perth needs late night trading to become more vibrant and not dead after dark. Which one? Me too I was layby chick extraordinaire! But it's been quite a few years since I worked there. I would like shops open every night too, especially supermarkets! Trying to get to a supermarket on a weekday after work before 6pm is almost impossible. I usually make it in 10 mins before it closes
  13. This was my old laundry floor, bet you can't beat this for ugliness Had it tiled recently, now it looks like this:
  14. Ditto :D I am falling asleep at the laptop here. I get half way through a sentence then drift off and have to start reading again These 6am starts are having an effect and ruining my evening DOL enjoyment I used to get up at 6am every morning for work (again, voluntarily) but I think once I had been doing it for a week or so my sleep pattern adjusted itself. But right now, I am really suffering! And no laughing at me from those of you who get up that early (and earlier!) because I am just not a morning person! I usually drag my sleepy butt outta bed on a workday at the latest possible minute (ie. 7.50am) and weekends around 9am. Nice early one this Sunday though for the Bunbury obedience double header
  15. I think Millie would stand there barking at a snake or bobtail, she doesn't like little moving things so much!
  16. Give her to Aunty RS to trial on Sunday so if she messes up you can blame it on me In return, I will give you Ruby to take through Open, and when she messes up, I can just blame you Or forever worship you cos you brought out what she's deep down actually capable of Treat 'em mean to keep 'em keen, right??
  17. So that's why I suck at this training thing then!!!
  18. When do I get to meet Paddy by the way? After my dream last night about getting his litter brother (), I really wanna meet this little guy ASAP!
  19. That is what I figure, too, but that train of thought doesn't always win the end! My lazy side doesn't want to understand that logic! I am going to attempt it again tomorrow It's the best time of the day, the morning, I just don't get to see it too often cos my bed is too cozy! And the walk was nice and peaceful especially the route I take, nice and serene, and only passed one couple and their small dog. Looked like Trixie, but smaller!!
  20. +1. Lots of shaping games armed with clicker and loads of treats. Makes teaching something new so much easier when a dog knows how to offer behaviours as they have learnt to learn!
  21. If I can drag my butt outta bed early enough on Sat I might join you guys at Riverside, but what time? I managed to drag myself out of bed Monday morning at 6am VOLUNTARILY and took the dogs for a walk before work. It was lovely and also my first time walking the dogs around my area since moving in. I live like 2 streets away from the river and a pathway that runs along it with loads of green grass for offlead romps (and training ) so will have to make more of an effort to do it more often. Not a chance in hell this morning though, sooooooo tiiiiiiired after the previous morning where I was in bed 1.30am and up at 6!
  22. Another vote for the red wine! How long does red wine last for by the way? I have a bottle open at my house from Sat night, and I don't drink the stuff, so will offload it if anyone wants some to drown their training sorrows
  23. Attention on me, attention on me, oh and ATTENTION ON ME is what I would be teaching first if I had my time again
  24. I want a new puppy! But can't Then I will take the new job, pretty please!
