  1. Love the BOB photo of you and Lincoln, Hannah!
  2. I'll answer for her, yes she's going! Me too Now, which dog to take? Which deserves it more
  3. Are you home to receive them? Most parcels are delivered to your door but you'll find that when you're not home, you have to go and collect from the post office if it's too large to leave. They should just chuck it over the back gate for the dogs, it's for them anyway
  4. Was just on Utube looking for one. I like the figure 8 in That starts at the 2 minute mark in this. The dog is focussed but there is clear daylight between dog and handler. I much prefer the heelwork posted in this video than that of some working line type dogs you see wrapping around the leg. It's happy, it's prancy, it's attentive, but it's not crowding the handler! Beautiful dog.
  5. Thanks Ptolomy ;) I am pleased with Millie. She started of so, so well (well, after we FINALLY left the start peg that is! ) and I don't blame her at all for her "stagefright". She saw those people and had a mini meltdown Maybe by next year she will be ready for such distraction. Ruby, well, I don't blame the Royal for her work. I need a brand new game plan with her or I might be withdrawing her for a little while to focus on Millie. I just can't cope with being frustrated with Ruby anymore, it isn't worth the stress it puts me under ;) Next time you train in a cow paddock, text me! I need to do some serious distraction work with miss moo though. She has so much potential and I don't want it to go to waste! P.S. I'm starting a Cider Fan Club, and I think I'm going to declare myself as President ;) So do you think you could have done anything differently with your kids to have got a different result at the Royal? A Cider fan club Plenty I'm sure, but I don't know what, that is my problem The problems I had with my 2 (to me) were 2 different problems. One was a Royal/inexperience in highly distracting environments problem (Millie), the other is a dog who chooses not to perform to her ability when we step into any ring regardless of distractions (Ruby), and I know I am half to blame, if not more than half. I'm going to have to put myself in mindset of "dog knows nothing, go back to basics" with R but that is so hard to do when you know (think!) they know more!

  7. Really lovely work! Well done Ptolomy! But wow what a short heel pattern in comparison to what our QLD judges give us! We get all 3 positions in all 3 paces! It's not fair!! We had a VIC judge for UD/Open/Novice and his heel pattern was nothing like your QLD ones Eg. fast pace in Open was just one short straight line, no positions at all! But then again, his heel pattern was identical in Novice to his Open one, so he didn't adjust the "difficulty" on the level he was judging. So it looks like it's only QLD judges, not just WA judges who do a "short" heeling pattern. You guys need to move! ;)
  8. Well done Sue & Cindy!! Do we get to see the video? I'm another one who practically craps her pants leading up to a trial, well the big ones anyway, and then what we get out of training, we don't see translated to the ring. Yes it gets me down BIG TIME, and I wonder why I keep bothering, but the fact is I love it too much and I'm no quitter, so I will perservere and work out ways to get what I get in training in the ring too. So far I don't have a new game plan, but I know I need one, so I will have to put my thinking cap on!!
  9. Yep that woulda been us then, I had the only Labs in obedience today and she's the only choc I've seen in obedience The poor girl was more than distracted, she was a tad worried about all the people there. She pulled off some nice heelwork once I got her attention at the start peg (I have never had to fight that hard to get her attention before! That was telling me from the start it wasn't going to be good), but then when we got near the ring ropes the crowd was just too much for her to handle and she had a bit of a meltdown ;) Where were you, Mim? Edit: Here, you can confirm if it was us or not Millie's round from today:
  10. Star of the day - CIDER!!!! If Ptolomy isn't careful, I am going to pocket that cute little munchkin and not give her back The grins on the public's face while she worked her little white socks off mirrored the grins on our faces watching ringside  I'm absolutely over the moon that she pulled off a perfect 100 so I can only imagine how thrilled Ptolomy is!!! Very well deserved Star of the future! Actually, the star of now! Go Cider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done to Scoota and Brookie and Beans too. I finally took Beans into stays without breaking her ;) No brags from me today, the Royal was just too distracting for my girls. Millie found the crowd very intimidating so the worry got in the way of her staying focused. I don't think she could understand why all these people were watching her! And well, Ruby is just Ruby, either brilliant or awful depending on her mood, so not blaming the crowd on Ruby's performance today Here is Millie's round from today: Poor distracted puppy dog, but she did good for being so overwhelmed by the crowd!
  11. Well done AD!! Nice runs! And well done Seita!!! 2 UD passes down, you may just get that title before the year is up like you were aiming for Good luck for the next one!
  12. Thanks for that. I have Amy (hopefully still!) coming with me to be my helper. Still waiting for her to sms me back to confirm the plans The permit says you can use it for entry between 6-8.30am, and 4-6pm. Vetting for UDX/UD/Open is 8am while Novice/CCD vetting is 12pm so does that mean those with afternoon only dogs still need to get there before 8.30am because of the passes? I've got both girls in so I will have to be there at 8am anyway. I'm planning on getting there between 7.30-8am. I've had an (alcohol induced :D) upset tummy all day so the plus side is I haven't felt nervous all day, just sick to the stomach!
  13. Royal Show exhibitors - is the parking permit we received only valid to get us through the gate to drop dogs off, or does it allow us to actually park somewhere for free? I'm quite confused.. I have no idea where to park tomorrow! I hope I don't get lost
  14. Love the beagle puppy photos!! Welcome Kenobi
  15. The Dogs SA open day did seem a little disorganized and was REALLY badly timed, but the concept was good and I got to see a tracking demonstration, earthdog demonstration and herding demonstration and some DWD going on. For the general public that would be really exciting and an eye opener of what they can do with thier dog. I think an Open day sounds great
  16. Who? Well I may as well go buy me a Border Collie now, it seems the only sport still flourishing is agility. Sigh ;)
  17. ;) Fuming here, too!! I want the Challenge, I have been working towards it!!!! How dare they
  18. An i-squeak in the ring would not be very good, especially if you squeak it!! The smalls are still big enough to see in your hand when holding it.
  19. GR, how many days til Paddy comes home? I know I keep asking but I also keep forgetting ;)
  20. I have a couple as well and not even taken them out of the packet because they are quite small - and I'm worried the big boofa will just open his gob, tip his head back (as he does...) and one will get stuck in his throat! I guess it would show up easily enough on Xray ;) Or else just shake him and we'll hear he's swallowed one Bugger, if I knew you guys had them and weren't impressed I wouldn't have bothered. I was umming and ahhing about those and thought what the heck in the end. Dunno why, they have so many toys already and most are hidden away in the cupboard or shed
  21. I had a car accident a few days before a double trial where I had badly bruised my foot (it felt the impact, it was the foot on the brake and it never left it as we impacted). I hobbled round the ring and fast pace was terribly hard, but we pulled off our final pass for CCD that day, oh and first place too ;) And for the record, it was the other silly woman's fault for the accident, I had a green light and she turned in front of me!
  22. There's a post in general which made me remember something from our meet on Saturday. As I was driving out of the carpark (and quite slowly!), this dog runs across the carpark in front of my car If I wasn't watching carefully, I would have hit it How hard is it for an owner to leash their dog in a carpark!! No it wasn't a DOLer ;) But they were parked next to Mas1981, this girl was at her car, and the dog ran from the other side of the carpark directly in front of me and to her and her car. Argh!! I just don't understand some people
