Yes I know, I could train a stay using the word "cheezels", it wouldn't matter I think we are saying the same thing though And that is the problem with a lot of dogs. They think I'm not breaking my stay if I lie down, I'm still staying! My next dog I think I will teach maintaining a position, not maintaining a stay. Much like ness is doing with Kenzie, if she says sit, it means sit there until released. Not sure how I'll go with that though, hard to break old habits using stay commands I have done a bit with Ruby already, and she is getting the idea.

Your dog is lovely!! Bummer about the COP, but I'd be pleased with what I saw
-
That Chatters place in Midland looks nice, gets my vote! We'd be able to hear each other in there wouldn't we?

+1!! Oh lordy I am so jealous, I am yearning puppies again!! After Sunday and being completely frustrated with my girls, I was thinking puppy no way, but puppy cluckiness is back Tiggy, how are you going to cope with puppy's daytime meals and semi-confinement from your other dogs while you are at work? This is the thing I can't figure out if I get another pup. It was fine with Ruby, I was living at home then and had Mum and Dad working different hours meaning she was home by herself only a couple of hours during the day so I had someone to feed her while she was little. Now I live alone, and have 2 full grown Labs, I would have to contain puppy somewhere and have Dad come feed it during the day! It's all too hard

Ptolomy had all her red kids out tonight (plus Lara) and I was sitting there wishing I had my phone on me to take a photo, it was this sea of red kids at her feet all waiting for the i-squeak to be thrown The way Ruby runs around with her kids I think she is trying to blend in as a red kid Millie aka Nigel-no-friends was happy chasing her new Zap ball by herself

This is my new girl. She's MAGICMINE A POT OF BLACK CCD CDX x CH JODEN WICKED WAYS. Dream litter for me, I had to have one. If anyone asks I have two dogs . Congrats, Tiggy!! (I'm slowly catching up on this thread ) Please bring her to a DOL meet, I've never met a SBT puppy before!

Yes, lovely food, but pricey. Maybe we should have a north and a south venue ...... different dates ...... and then I can attend both! I think we should try and make it a central venue - we could go to Tomato Cafe? somehow I dont think they open at night though That's not such a bad idea!! As long as everyone is happy to make it lunch instead of dinner, and eat an all day breakfast or a toasted BLT! :D Plus dogs on lead welcome! I think the idea though was for us to be "kid-free" for an evening

Chatters in Midland is pretty good but can't promise I'll be there I might be busy with a new addition :D Naughty Tiggy, you already have 3 dogs What's one more, she's only little :D . Oh my, are you really getting that puppy?! I'm so jealous I can't just go and get a puppy too Or are you using the puppy as a cover for not wanting to come along? ;) We've never actually formally met, I think you should finally come along to one of these things!

Errmmm...... NO!! Fast Eddy's has the worst food EVER!

I don't mind central along Gt Eastern Hwy, but parking in Vic Park and Mt Lawley (and Burswood) is very hard. I'm open to driving anywhere, distance doesn't worry me, as long as we have definite parking
-
Either of those would be good for me After I made the city comment I thought naaah, parking is too hard! Burswood is expensive and parking is so hard to get
-
So do I. For all I know, I could have been having the conversation with myself :D Edit: Hang on I think I remember now, it was ozjen! I think....

Amy and I were actually talking about this the other day... least I think it was Amy, could have been Candice? :D Anyway, whoever it was, we thought it would be good to do a dinner out somewhere without the pooches for a change. So, I'm in Greyhounds was ok last time, but I like the idea of the city, somewhere a little more posh ;) (but not too posh, I'm flat broke ;))

I'd rather have a view of the K9 training my norty puppehs!
-
A Labramoodle?
-
I love the view from our office boardroom windows - overlooking the river Good thing I don't work from in there, or nothing would ever get done!! And might I add, it's a tall building in the city at a high level, so nice view that spans quite a distance! :D

What's the new job, ST?

It is a lovely day, I just have a few things to do around the house and then will go do some training at the park over the road I took Mason to Guildford on friday for his photo session, he had the best time! Pfft to both of you I get to occasionally look out the window ;) RS, I am planning to be at training as close to 7pm as possible It can be hard for me to get there much before. Yes, pffft to them as well and a big fat At least you have a window, I don't! And to top it off, the aircon is bahluddy cooooold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I'm guessing that would depend on how good her understanding is of the first command given. With enough practice, I think the first command should be enough. But for a baby dog, I would repeat it if necessary.
-
I vote for stays with a dinner bowl in front of them. Sure there might be excessive drool, but the stays will be close to rock solid!!!

I withdrew Millie from Novice stays at the Royal. I know she can stay, so I saw no point putting her through it when we had already failed ringwork. Edit: Hope I haven't just jinxed her stays If I have another dog in the lower classes again, I won't do stays unless we're on a pass. I have only done Open stays with Ruby twice. Once was when she had only failed the retrieve over solid jump (and we were sitting on 189 for our first pass ) and the second stays she was on a Q and going for first place (only because Brookie and Scoota weren't entered and Beans had a blonde moment in the distance control, which we all saw on video ) and the bugger got up in the down stay, after staying put in the sit stay when the dog next to her bolted out of the ring after a car backfired. Soooo close to our first pass ;)
-
I don't believe the issue is non-qualifying vs qualifying dogs. You could have perfect ringwork and a really crappy stay! Or crappy ringwork and be solid on stays. The issue is when the same offending dogs keep getting put into stays when they shouldn't be, even if they are on a Q. I very rarely do the stays if we aren't on a Q. Someone mentioned (ness?) that WA do 2 separate stays, one for Q and one for NQ. I've never seen this happen here
-
I was in Novice stays when the dog next to Ruby got up and into her face during the down stay. Wasn't threatening, it wanted to play, and Ruby's tail was wagging furiously but the good girl stayed put. The woman who owned the dog asked if I would like her to get her dog, as the judges and stewards were VERY SLOW to respond, and I said yes please, and she did. There didn't seem to be any consequences from the judge for her doing so This was a VIC judge. Another trial, a WA judge in the Novice stays told us all in the lineup that if our dog gets up, we must come and get it ourselves, and we're in big trouble if he has to come and intervene! If my dog is being stood over in a threatening way, stuff the consequences too I say, my dog's confidence and safety is my number 1 priority, not a judge's ruling!

Nedlands foreshore ;) Offlead dogs, grass, river, sand, BBQ's Oh and lots of trees! Shade Link? This one sounds good too! Try this link: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=-32.00105...,172.02,,0,0.14 and this: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=-32.00098...=17&iwloc=A Oh and the council's website says the following in regards to offlead dogs: Dogs may be exercised on almost all reserves, unless they are in use for an organised sport. The exceptions are the: Swanbourne Beach Reserve; Infant Health Centre playground in Strickland St; Hollywood Tennis Courts area and surrounds; and Karella, Leura and Campsie St playgrounds. The area posted above isn't one of these exceptions, so I think we are safe to do our offlead dog BBQ there It is also a very lovely walk to do up the entire length of the foreshore. At one end is a secluded beach, and the other near the Uni, is a dog friendly outdoor cafe
