  1. Yep that's Ruby puppy, wasn't she a stunner? (Still is, but I may be biased though ) I'd so love her to be in some print ads or commercials She photographs well normally, and she can be a little poser Awww mirawee why wouldn't you own a Lab over an Aussie? I want both!! GR - yaaaaay I can't wait for Goldie puppy cuddles
  2. I need to place puppy Ruby photos side by side to an Aussie puppy photos and see which one makes my heart beat faster Can't wait to see the video! Maybe you should upload it?
  3. Being puppy clucky makes you take a trip down memory lane to help ease the pain of not being able to get a pup... not sure if it eases it or makes it worse! I love this girl so much
  4. I make all these commitments to do stuff then never get time Maybe I should spend the summer months when it's too hot to go out and train doing indoor tricks I have a while up my sleeve then to stop being so lazy Edit: I don't really know of any books but there are a few DVD's around that are good. My faves are Patty Ruzzo and Chris Bach
  5. An even bigger fail is neither of my dogs know roll over I haven't taught poor Millie any tricks. From the day she came to me, I just taught her obedience stuff I did some free shaping with her last night, first time actually, with the lid off the kibble bin. Just wanted her to interact with it in some way. Took her a bit to take her eyes off me but when they flicked to the lid on the floor, C/T! She started looking at it more and then progressed to nudging it with her nose The highlight was when she stopped looking at me and hopped up with this lightbulb kind of look in her eyes to say hmmm well I know I have to do something! We'll see where it takes us next time. I'm hoping to shape her into putting her 2 front paws on it.
  6. Are you kidding, I own it? I borrowed this from someone when Ruby was a puppy but it had to be returned to her. And now it has somehow wound up in my collection, score You can't half tell I haven't watched the agility DVD's I have...
  7. Millie doesn't have one but I have sung "Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby!!!" to Ruby, that song that was on the radio a couple of years back. Ohh I just remembered, there is another song I sing to Ruby "Electric Field" by mgmt... instead of "baby girl" I sing "Ruby girl" Yep, joining the weirdo club
  8. I am definitely glad I didn't go then! I would have been a bit annoyed if I had driven an hour and it had been totally cancelled LOL Some training went on as there was gear set up and they were still going when I left - just before 9. Well poo!! My source just said there were no lights on so didn't venture all the way down
  9. This fellow is Greg Derret in his Foundation Training DVD. I have taught my dog to spin "back" (left) & "close" (right) & find it very handy for doing either a tight wrap round or for directing her to a tight turn to another obstacle. I am so bad with my lefts & rights though that it is a stategy I have to work out when walking the course as I can't think that quickly while running. It also may have been Rob Michalski on one of the 'Agility in Motion' videozines. He had a few segments across 3 or 4 DVD's where he taught a similar thing and then used it on tunnel discriminations I think. There is a wheelchair bound competitor in the US (Cheryl Minchinello, Michello? something like that) who has developed her own system of handling she calls 'directional control' and basically parks herself on course and handles most of the course with verbals. Totally amazing ! Oh my! Someone in a wheelchair doing agility, wow good on her!!! I would LOVE to see videos of this, any idea if there are any on youtube? If it helps discriminate between the 2 videos, this guy was working outside in a largish backyard and had a whole set of jumps set up with "wings" hanging off them that he used to demonstrate putting it in practice!
  10. I am definitely glad I didn't go then! I would have been a bit annoyed if I had driven an hour and it had been totally cancelled LOL I kept checking the website for details of it being cancelled but they put nothing up!! A friend went down and checked then let me know. I was gonna go anyway and just gatecrash Ptolomy's training session undercover but didn't think that would be overly appreciated
  11. It stopped raining at 7 so training could have gone ahead I suppose. I didn't bother heading down and then found out it wasn't on anyway.
  12. Hmmm... getting a drink from the fridge? Lots of portions to break up there! I know a few DOL dogs know this one and it is always a crowd pleaser!
  13. I saw an agility DVD a few years ago (no idea which trainer it was, maybe you guys will recognise the DVD?) where the guy was teaching the dog left/right direction using a tug toy and spinning the dogs on the tug toy and naming the direction in which they were spinning. Then he only had to use the directional command on jumps and the dogs turned in the right direction.
  14. Oh I started that one a couple of years ago. She did it, but I stopped doing it, so no idea if she can still do it! My guess is a big fat no!
  15. Where's OzJen when you need her, she teaches the coolest tricks
  16. Nope I know, I know, it's one of the first tricks people teach their dogs! Not me I went to teach it way back when, but did the crawl instead OK, she kinda knows it, but doesn't. Her version of roll over is roll onto my back for a belly rub, and doesnt go all the way over If I ask her "do you wanna tickle?" she rolls onto her back for me
  17. Done that OK I will list Ruby's very small repertoire of tricks so please add something new for me! - Leg weaving - Closing the door - Shake - High Five - Crawl - Take a Bow - Spinning in circles - Putting her paw on my leg as I raise each leg - Walking backwards between my legs - Started teaching her to catch a treat off her nose, but she's a shocking catch
  18. OK, thinking about tricks - can someone please set me a trick challenge? Except please don't ask for the bubble blowing one, I am fairly confident I will lack all ability to train that one I suck at trick training, only done a few basics, but would love the challenge!
  19. Loved it Rach!! Love her tricks too Makes me feel so guilty I have hardly taught Ruby any tricks, and I've taught Millie none!
  20. Spartan wins, the poor fella has to wear a bib! He needs one as vCBR suggested that says "I'm too sexy for this bib"
  21. Sorry Rach, can't help, my Labs would just want to say hello and play. No way can they sit still and not pay attention!
  22. Ooooh thankyou! Now I just need some spare cash :D When you find out postage if it's cheaper for multiples let me know. Thier dummies are reallycheap too! Any Dolers visisting Queensland anytime soon? I won't be finding out, at least not for ages. Don't have any money, that part I was serious about
  23. Ooooh thankyou! Now I just need some spare cash
  24. Not only am I envious that you have a cute new Aussie pup, but you have a job where you can take your dogs into work
