These stories are hilarious I can't think of any at the moment but I'm sure mine have done some curious things in their time!

I had issues watching my girls devour a salmon head, so I'm not sure I could let them eat a pig head!

visitors are most welcome. i may be there sat too as my photographer has been requested to attend the show that is on but it depends if she can make it i will see if she wants to come down and get some pics for everyone will definately be there sun though and again visitors are welcome, bacon and egg burgers or pancakes for breakfast and then fr lunch marinated garlic steak with salad Oh geez I'm almost tempted to come down and watch the agility on Sunday just so I can come to your camp for lunch :D I bet your gazebo is the envy of all the other showers If your friend and her camera are floating around on Saturday, I would LOVE some photos taken of my girls and I in the obedience ring Which reminds me, I'm going to have to hire me a videographer, can't trust my mum to film these days

I wanted a yellow Lab as a kid... finally got her, and she is everything (and more) that I ever wanted! Definitely the dog of my dreams

emery, if you're there on the Saturday and your hubby is cooking breakfast under your gazebo, you might find me as a visitor Nah, I can never eat before a trial for some reason Nerves or something :D I'd say you're on the top oval, too, as obedience has the bottom oval Sat and agility has it on Sun :D

I'd like to try goat too (well, my dogs would, not me!) but I don't fancy the drive out to get some I'll have to get an order together of a bunch of meats/bones so I can freeze them and get back into the routine of feeding raw.

Getting Compliance Without A Reward On Offer?
RubyStar replied to Lucy's mama's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I love this idea! Banjo loves running with me so it will be a great reward to him. Just have to get over the first hurdle of getting him to do something reward worthy! Don't ask him for anything too advanced in the early stages of transferring the treats off your body. Ask for something simple like a "sit", then when he does it, make a huge fuss of what a good boy he is and run off with him to find him his treat. Gradually build it up asking for a few behaviours or more advanced ones before treating. -
Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road
RubyStar replied to m-j's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Well I guess that is the point - no one way is right. They are some of the different training methods available, pick one that works for you and your dog and be open to try other ways when one doesn't work! (oh and I wouldn't trust all these suggestions as is, they are taking the piss quite obviously ) -
Exactly, as well, the dog should not stop before dropping. The ideal moving down has the dog IN MOTION slide to the drop position. Deductions occur for anything less than that. Well yes, just like formal obedience I have no idea about this other exercise you guys are talking about, perhaps I should read the rules and be training I assume this is a station we didn't cover in the seminar? We did RS. Maybe you need to brush up on your novice stations Which station is this? You guys are talking about walking backwards, and I don't recall us doing that in any of the courses we ran! I thoought you meant the moving down. The backwards with dog at frint is novice, backward with dog at side is advanced. :p I'm the one who gave you a link to the moving down we did at the seminar, and as discussed above ;) Yep its the backward with dog at side that I was confused over!

Strauss will be + Lexi and if thats a showing day then SoggyBear will be too - need to check my K9 Mag Will Strauss be coming to the obedience trial on the 21st? :p There always seems to be baked goods on offer at the agility trials. I need to hurry up and get Ruby ready to trial so I can join in the festivities

You make my Labs sound like angels!

Did the walking work? I can't believe little Trixie could do so much damage for a little lady! My girls destroyed their blanket yesterday while home alone, but everything else, including yard, still in one piece They must have played so hard in the rain yesterday that they slept like little babies all evening in front of the heater No peep out of them until I got up this morning at 7.30. Dad wants a black Lab and has picked out the name Ebony for her

it's easier to keep dogs dual purpose in a (realitively) small breed though. This is probably where Tollers and Chessies have an advantage. I am fairly certain that curly coats and flat coats are supposed to be dual purpose too. Advantage over what? Being able to nip it in the bud when people go off making thier own little divisons and breeding away from the orginal standard. It's easier to police someone who is doig the wrong thing when you have about 5,000 dogs compared to the probably 5,000,000 labs out there. Quite true. And while on the topic of all the Labs out there, I was trolling the DOL puppy adverts for Labs last night, and it saddened me by how many listings there were. You can't pick the good from the BYB types in most cases until you delve deeper, so if I do go another Lab, it most definitely be from a breeder here in WA that I personally know.

sorry which number ? sorry you are on 26 not 49 oops sorry. the rules don't say which return just that after the return the dog moves forward and doesn't sit...so I would do left but both are correct according to the rules That station 49 is excellant and is three steps backwards, which means both dog AND handler must walk backwards at least three steps, with the dog remaining in correct heel position. Dancers have no issues with this one...I personally suck at it (as do my dogs!) This one sounds tough!! Unless we can perform it with the dog between our legs? My dogs can walk backwards with me if they are standing between my legs
