  1. Cuute! Starting on the obedience training already I see. Can he do scent or the box yet?
  2. OK, met Asha tonight, and you guys are right. FERAL But ohhhh soooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!! She'd have me wrapped round her little paw in no time
  3. I have heard many times that general dog jobs is low paying, but what about specialised ones? For example, would a Guide Dog trainer get paid a decent wage? It all seems to be hush hush about what specialised dog jobs get paid!
  4. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a vet nurse so I volunteered at a local vet clinic weekly for about 6 months. Lots of cleaning the kennels, but also got to sit in on consults and operations. In the end I had to give it up, and my idea of becoming a vet nurse, because I soon discovered that I am no good with watching operations I fainted, with it one minute, out cold the next I am so glad that I discovered that it wasn't for me before I pursued tertiary studies in it!
  5. I can bring it tonight for you to have a look at if you need, just let me know. It's at home. Yes please
  6. Tiggy, I seem to have also misplaced my latest Canine News So I wasn't able to type up the info you need, sorry. Is there any kind soul out there who could please give us the details of the Canine Fundraisers obedience trial and the CCC trial? ie. How much and where to send entries to? I need to get my entries out for the first one no later than tomorrow as I won't be around to send it off after that for a closing date of Monday ;) Must go hunting around parent's place tonight in case I left it there. Because my cheque book seems to have gone walkies along with it! ;)
  7. Thanks Tiggy Yes for fast pace, that LAT I was pretty happy with! Turns in general need perfecting, my footwork is all over the place and some more rear end awareness needs to happen. Milliemoo was noooooooooorty last night at training!!!! While Ruby was my angel. Millie had a couple of chances, blew each of them, so I put her back in the car and that was that :D But managed some lovely heelwork before she blew me off Dogs, eh! Who'd have 'em! ;)
  8. Sorry Mas, only got like the last third of Millie's trial on video, so there's hardly anything worth watching. There's basically only the SFE and recall and the recall you can't see a lot because the judge was in front of the camera. Very at my parents. Dad has been dying to come and see "his" Millie in the ring, so had planned to come along with Mum who I had already advised long ago I wanted her to come down so she could film it. Dad was farting around as per usual which made them late, so I had to find a videographer at the last minute and they probably got confused with the filming as they hit pause right after they hit record and didn't realise until heelwork was over I think I need to hire a permanent video person as I can't find good help these days! The best video people I've had are busy in the ring themselves :D
  9. Did a bit of training at the park yesterday after the obedience trial. Had the video camera in the car from the trial so thought I may as well whip it out and film some training Ruby duration heelwork: Millie kinda sorta but not completely duration heelwork: Constructive criticism is always welcome. We've come so far in a year, couldn't imagine getting that much heelwork without breaking focus a year ago, but if I can double that, awesome I haven't ever pushed Ruby much past the minute mark... I guess now that I can see she can, I should push for more. I think she's up for the challenge But I had no idea how long we had been going for until I watched it back and took a look at the counter And yes, that is Millie going off her rocker in the car in the background of Ruby's video I'm using the clicker in Millie's video as I'm trying to mark when she's closer to my leg. She tends to drift further away so working on fixing that
  10. What are these closed club trials all about?
  11. Thanks emery! I better get on to my entries then! If emery doesn't get it to you before, I will send you the info you need tonight. Good on you finally entering Sophie will do well
  12. august 23rd emery, could you be so kind as to look up when the CAWA Fundraiser obedience trial date closes please? At least I think that is one... in my little saved text document on my work computer says so, but I could be wrong
  13. I'm excited too, I get to meet another ES up close
  14. I think it is printed in this catalogue, but I don't have it handy, sorry. edit: whoops didn't look further to see emery had already answered Oooh are you entering? and which dog?
  15. And I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest! Ruby is better, but lacks the attitude and concentration Millie has. Millie needs more proofing in distractions, though
  16. Sorry to hear about Robi, mirawee Hope the rehoming goes well and he gets spoilt rotten by his new family
  17. Ptolomy Have you taken a close look at today's catalogue? Apparently you own a flock of "Nova Scotia Duck Trolling Retrievers"
  18. 5 weeks already, Seita?? That went by reeeeeeallly fast!!!
  19. Thanks caffy and bedazzled.... yep, her 2nd trophy. Second time being "last dog standing" Which was a surprise, I thought that there were at least 3 of us that Q'd.
  20. Millie had her 2nd CCD trial today, 2 for 2 so far She walked away with the trophy again 1 more pass to go ;)
