Oh oh, funny story from tonight Well, at least I thought so I was working contacts with Millie, then directly after, I sent her through a tunnel. She comes to the end of the tunnel and stops, half in, half out. Weird, I thought. Sent her again, did the same thing. I worked out my dog is doing contacts in a tunnel A throw of her squeaky ball as she came out the other end quickly fixed that, but how hilarious :D -

While on topic of 2x2 weaving.... Ruby did her first 12 straight poles tonight :D She's been doing 6 for a while now (and when I say a while, I mean a few sessions, but with like 1-2 weeks between sessions ) so tonight I put 6 out and then the other 6 not far from it and she was doing both fine.... so I did a naughty thing and put them together in the same night and she did it :D Have to go back though and work entries a bit better (yeah yeah I know, I rushed it!) She is getting her entries on the left hand side and straight on, but entries from the right hand side she misses the first 1 or 2 poles I would have thought the right hand entry would be easiest but surprising she is finding the left hand side of the arc so much easier! I am now able to run with her as she does it and I even rear crossed her once she entered and she didn't pop out Just those bloody right side arc entries to get happening a bit more consistently! But I am very chuffed :D -

Sounds like you guys might be teaching it with the 2x2 method - in this case, definitely avoid him coming back the way he went. You need a reward line - this is the direction he heads through the poles and the direction the reward is thrown. Helps to teach entries from all angles. Edit: you should also be shaping him to go through the poles on his own, and then throw the reward once he's heading through. Do not throw the food to lure him through. It's a frustrating process at first if your dog isn't good with shaping (Ruby is, Millie isn't so I am going to have trouble with her!) but once they "get it", you'll progress in no time. -
:p @ Beans I don't believe that little angel face could do such a thing!!

Just being little so and so's all night and then when Millie started rampaging through my brand new car on my leather seats, that was it! Trying to control Millie, Ruby jumped out and nearly hung herself on her slip lead. Ptolomy could probably tell you how worked up I was Erm yes, I do have control over my dogs :D That was just a bad, bad night about a year ago Thankfully they are better behaved now... but that psycho Millie, I dunno, might have to find her a new home soon (not really )

I'm sure I could make it work for training nights as they do get fed more, but what about other nights when you don't go out to train? Do you ask them for some work and then feed in jackpots? Or do they just get regular meals in a bowl? I guess doing that would kind of defeat the purpose, right? There is only one time in history I have come home from training and not fed them afterwards. They were soooooooooo naaaaaaaughty, I was furious, so I came home, and literally sent them to bed without dinner! I turned the light out, closed the door, and that was that And yes, I do realise that they would have had no idea why they were being sent to bed early and their tum tums were empty, but you can't argue common sense with me when I am that furious
-
I would like to take this approach with Ruby, she is very ho-hum about some things (bet you can't imagine that from her!) but if I gave all her dinner to her as training treats, she would still stare at me for the rest of the night expecting dinner because if it hasn't come in a bowl, she just doesn't feel like she's been fed and honestly she just can't settle! And I can't handle a dog staring at me and leaping up at every move I make in anticipation of being fed!!

I don't have any immediate suggestions, guys, hopefully someone can offer some advice to help! I had the same problem with Ruby when she was younger, she'd take 1 jump then run off to greet another dog. Sometimes I couldn't even get her to do one jump, she just wanted to bounce from dog to dog. So I took a step back from the exciting offlead world of agility and concentrated on getting some better obedience before heading back. Now we're back, she is focused enough to do what I ask I would just say don't expect too much of them at this early stage in this exciting environment. Maybe use the agility environment to teach and reinforce some good obedience behaviours onlead? I'm sure the experienced people will have some better advice for ya's!

Where can I see pictures of Scam? Just as well the litter is only producing black and reds tris, or I'd be very very clucky!! Is there any chance of red merles or just red tris? (I'm too lazy to go back and see what mirawee wrote I just remember the black and red bit). OzJen, what breed puppies are you cuddling or is that a seeeeeecret?! Edit: ok I went and looked back a whole 1 page... just tris.

Fair enough amypie, I'm just lazy! :D

Uh oh.... think Millie has been whispering in her ear about how to destroy foam lounges that belong to parents
-
I think I have just the answer to cure you of this problem Hmmm yes I thought after I typed that I might be signing myself up for something :D Yes RS soft pats & cuddles are good but so is being able to wash a dog in Winter and it drying in 5 minutes without the use of a dryer Why do dogs with no coat even need a bath? Mine have only had 1 this year
-
I think I have just the answer to cure you of this problem Yes, she can groom my Aussie when it comes along :D
-
So do we see an Aussie in your future? I see Beans in her future Poor sweet Beans!! To continue the off topic banter if Trixie is ok with it... I had a dream last night that Millie had her first Open obedience trial and did her out of sight sit stay so well that I had passed out from not feeling well and forgot to release her, and she was still sitting there.... then when we did down stays, she crawled towards me and blew it And I was reeeeeeally peeved because whoever it was that I had asked to film the round for me (think it was a person with no face as I don't know who it was!), had only filmed me fluffing around outside the ring and didn't film the actual ringwork, and it was a good round apparently :D
-
I want a fluffly dog, too... but not craving one for the grooming! I love my self grooming Labs! (though I could brush them more.. but don't think it would really help that much with the shedding!) I want a fluffy one for soft pats and cuddles :D How silly does that sound
-
So do we see an Aussie in your future?
-
Oooh who who who? :D Edit: cos I quoted the wrong part of the post

I just gasped out loud at the cuteness! :D

PM Rusky, she will know if Southern River will be holding classes and when. And as you know, membership fees and weekly lights money also need to be paid even if you train on your own at the grounds on training night
