  1. Wow lots of brags posted today! Congrats to everyone on an awesome weekend of competing! No trials for me til end of May, what am I going to do with myself :D
  2. For the dinner thing OzJen was trying to organise for Wednesday night, another option for dinner is Checkers restaurant (buffet) at the Cannington Greyhounds. Drove past tonight and it is $27 on a Wed night for their buffet. Their food sounds really really yummy Menu and info: http://www.greyhoundswa.com.au/Portals/0/d...day%20print.pdf Just a suggestion!
  3. I have easy accsess to 2 acres of paddock (my backyard), then next door is 10 or 15 acres of scrub that we can run the dogs in. And behind is 100 hectares of bushland with a creek and a lake (and lots of kangaroos) so yes we have space out here to train thats for sure! We should wait for the next K9 and choose a day when shows/agility and obidience plus our jobs don't clash and you should come out. I think this sounds like a plan :D ST and I can take turns car pooling out to your neck of the woods and between the 3 of us I'm sure we can work out some sort of training plan. Hopefully we can pick up some good tips from experienced handlers and get our hands on some nice books and dvd's. When is the retrieving day they have planned? I'd really like to go. Am I too late to RSVP to it?
  4. Naaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww how adorable is she!!!
  5. I just watched videos on YouTube of Trick (Trix?) the black Lab 3rd run in retrieving. Awesome :D Still makes me want to do retrieving ;) Love the idea of the new title you were talking about Valley (what was the title actually called again?) but realistically, with only 4 training days, it seems almost impossible for a newbie to get into the sport. Wouldn't have a clue how to train the in between bits! Valley, do you have somewhere where you can practice? If we lived closer together we could meet up to train.
  6. Ok then I wish I had gotten to see the course, or better yet, see your runs! But sleep was a much needed thing this morning. Been running on empty lately! Thanks Rach. Saw that link and that is actually what prompted me to post because theirs don't seem to have the rope in it. I do have regular slip leads I had made when I was going to try retrieving, so maybe I will just use those. So much easier than unclicking a lead each time. I hope so!! Noice!! Not sure where our seats are, my sister got the tickets for us. I remember being row 2 for a Bollywood show, and that was a big mistake. You could smell the sweat
  7. I'm going Tuesday . I'm not even sure why I'm going... musicals don't appeal to me.
  8. Meeee! Still not sure if I'm going or not though, might wag. We'll see how we pull up in the morning! Have fun! If you don't wag! I'm doing something completely out of the ordinary tomorrow, I'm spending time with cats instead of dogs! Going to see Cats, the musical I'd much rather see a musical about Dogs, though
  9. Helen who runs Lexi makes the lead tuggies and Gillian makes the tuggies with rope in them. Thanks. I don't know Gillian so would you happen to have a contact (email?) for her please? Edit: I misread what you wrote, you say Helen makes the leads? Do you know if she makes any with rope in them too? Who is entered tomorrow at GSDA??
  10. Congrats on the herding JulesP and ness
  11. LOL - I had to laugh after playing ball for 2 hours with Ciderbear Deb O asks - does she ever stop Wish I got it on video as I said to you it shows what a neat handler you are Rubystar ;) as for packing her into your training bag - hmm she might just find your missing i-squeaks for you! Now where is Caffy - she has some HUGE Brags from today - WOW is all I can say about her handling of Snaz today I seriously felt so unco. Dropping treats, lead getting in the way, keeping upright in the wrong shoes for heeling And are you sure Cider hasn't already been in my bag and stolen the i-squeaks? She would give the energizer bunny a run for its money!!
  12. Does anyone know of anyone in the agility circles in Perth who make tug leads (slip style) and sell them? I'm after a nice strong one, so one that has some rope through it too. Hope someone can help me! Alternatively, any websites that have these? Must have the rope because I find they are too "boingy" if they don't have it in there!
  13. I'm well and truly buggered after today and I didn't do much either Valley, did you get your run with Toby on video?
  14. Woohoo go Lexi!! :D My "brag" is I got to have a small play with Cider today on heelwork and LAT's, and boy she is a gorgeous little thing to work! Though I had to be careful not to tread on her She is stunning, watching her and her mummy work, she's gonna do VERY well in the ring If Ptolomy isn't careful, I'm gonna accidentally pack her into my car after training one night
  15. Very well done to amypie, xena98 and yes I do believe Ptolomy has some news!! Unless she's already gone to the brags thread
  16. Yes I hope there is video Amy, I missed it! Edit: bugger!!!!
  17. I had heard there was a little girl running a dog and I was all keen to watch, but poor Maddie, Ollie didn't want to cooperate in their last run
  18. I'd love to come I'm an honorary trialler, or something of the sort I'm fine with anywhere!
  19. Sounds good So we should be set for shade And forecast is no longer for rain on Thursday Thunder storm instead? Oops, don't wanna jinx it!!
  20. Maybe Toby went without you Thats what I was thinking If he did he made Novice Jumping Final so well done Toby! :D :D I think Ruby would have a better chance of a Q if she ran it on her own
  21. Nope but I will start training tonight. Cake in one hand, chocolate bar in the other. And liiiiiiiiiiift!! Rubystar I would offer you Beans to run in open agility BUT you already have too many skills for her. :D After my efforts last night, anybody previously considering me running their dog will now run a mile :D
  22. Try not to take comments about "badly bred" labs personally, Rubystar. While saying some labs make you want to wash your eyes out with bleach may be a little OTT, I think where those sorts of comments come from is a deep love of the breed and a strong desire to see the breed improve in quality, and perhaps some frustration at some of the breeders out there who aren't trying hard enough, or whose heart is in the wrong place ($$$). Even breeders can't tell which puppies are going to turn into champions, and many "show prospects" end up being re-homed down the track because they just don't make the cut. Like you, I went to what I consider to be an ethical registered breeder to get my boy, and I hope he turns out to be a nice example of the breed as that would validate my breeder's hard work and efforts! But in the end, it really doesn't matter to me as I am going to love him regardless and he won't be doing any breeding anyway. Thanks, macka. Yes I do realise this, but I don't think those who say these things stop to think that it might actually offend the pet owners who wear rose coloured glasses (who love their dogs just as much!), when I know their gripe is actually with the breeders.
