  1. I thought even private jets have customs officers walk through, and legal paperwork to fill in. Surely there would have been questions about food and livestock on it. They must have lied
  2. perhaps her salon should now be quarantined and thoroughly de contaminated at JD's expense
  3. Where does it say it was knowingly? Pets travel free in most parts of the world, it could have been an oversight on his and the organisers part. Not everyone knows Australia has such strict quarantine rules. Depp has been here before. If he pined for the dogs during that visit, surely the onus would be on his minders to undertake due diligence as to the feasibility of their being with him? Old saying... ignorance of the law is no excuse. My older dogs had UK pet-passports. Since they were an integral part of our family life, we had to do research for their best treatment. I am sure Depp could have had the same happen. Yep Johnny Dipshit
  4. thanks!! I did try to look up Cardinias but all I got was the form to appy for extra animals. I couldn't find the bit about the actual cost.
  5. I have a friend who lives there too, but she's only on a 1/4 acre block
  6. Hmmm it doesn't mention if there's an extra cost though. I wonder. I have a friend who lives over that way, I might ask her.
  7. To have a permit for multiple dogs here, I have to pay a large fee every year, on top of the individual rego for each dog. Initially I had to pay for the ranger to come out, inspect my property, ask me lots of questions, photograph all my dogs (she also photographed all my chickens!) and then after that it's $164 every year, on top of each dogs registration. I was having a gripe to the ranger about it today and said I have heard that some shires only charge a once off fee for a multiple dog permit. He was very nice and listened to me and suggested I find out which ones and write to my council and they might reconsider their charges. I am sure I've read here that some places charge a once off fee, so quick quick! come forward and tell me which ones so I can put that in my letter.

  9. I love the shot in Mackay of the fishing boat just setting out, it's brilliant! That one should win a prize.
  10. Sometimes it's not always the breeders fault. Sometimes the computer system just wont allow them to accurately register colour. In IGs seals and sables must be registered as black, but in fact they're really fawn although they dont look like it. It's very confusing and not an accurate description. I'd also like to see dilutes registered as such. If a dog is blue or blue brindle (not talking about IGs here) we know it's a dilute but fawns can be dilutes too, but they're just registered as fawn. And speaking of fawn, there's so many shades! From the palest creamy colour through to gorgeous pinky shades through to golds and reds, but with some breeds they just have to be called fawn.
  11. The gap is just as wide over seas, in fact some of my friends in the US suggest it is wider as the Aust Show BC's seem to have retained more of their working working ability than in other countries. The difference is that most other Kennel clubs will recognise legitimate ABCA/ISDS pedigrees and include them in the register. Aust won't. Legitimate colours and coats are included in the register, Australia restricts the colours/coats it will allow. So either a. we miss out on some great dogs or b. dogs are registered to fit the standard. And that's an interesting comment about development of the BC. I always thought BC's were of Scottish descent. Perhaps it was the show standard that was developed in Australia which is why some of the true working dogs are excluded? ;) In a nutshell, they are a UK breed and were for a very long time. It was Australia who decided to call them Border Collies (as opposed to simply sheepdogs) so they go down as being an Australian breed  From a KC point of view Aus developed the breed, even though they originated in the UK. Wow! I never knew this!
  12. How old is Don? I cant get over his grey muzzle. Is Ess still around?
  13. I hope you can nip it in the bud.
  14. Yes, I've wondered about this with Danes. I was very surprised when I read how they cannot be bred together because it might produce colours that aren't in the standard. I really wonder why you cant have a "Boston" marked fawn. I understand about the merle to merle but some of the other colour combos, I wonder about the reasoning.
  15. come along as a spectator and see what you think. It is mostly fenced, it's just that a really determined and disobedient dog could find a way out. To date we've never had a dog escape and we've been there for a few years now. We just tend to err on the side of caution and tell people it's not fully fenced. If you think it is OK then you can come back for one of our fun days and give them a run. In case anyone is thinking of coming to watch we wont be doing a bbq this time so you'll need to bring your own picnic lunch as well as chairs, picnic blankets etc. The conditions are very basic....to non existent
  16. oooh it's getting exciting now. Entries have closed and we've got alot, if we start at 11am we expect to finish around 4.30pm (ish) . It's going to be a long day. Bel's worked out our roster and I'll be able to take photos Yaaaay! Weather forecast is for 19C and SUNNY!! If it stays that way it will be perfect.
  17. Many of the standards were written before colour was really understood. For example Staffordshire terriers dont have solid black, as far as I know they're all brindle, but they still have classes for blacks. Until recently I believe it said blue whippets were supposed to have black noses. As dilutes, that is impossible, they might look black, but they aren't. In their country of origin Azawakhs can be any colour, but some standards now have restrictions on the amount of white they can have. Surely limiting things like this will limit the gene pool, and for what reason? The Italian greyhound has different colour standards for different countries. Anyway, I dont think you need to worry, I'm sure you know it's very hard to change standards for any reason. I think the only time it might happen is if the breed is in such danger of dying out will they consider allowing fresh blood in and by then it might be too late for some breeds anyway.
  18. You can have free cuddles if you come down.

  20. Not sure if I'll be able to take photos. I think I'll be doing other stuff on the day, it's going to be busy. With every dog getting 2 runs we'll be doing at least 56 up and backs, and there's sure to be a few that need more time or an extra run due to technical problems so I expect it will be a very long day.
  21. Entries closed for our Fastest Dog comp coming up next weekend. Getting exciting! An email will be sent off tomorrow night to all those we received entries from. We have 28 dogs entered, so it will be a big day. If you don't get an email by Monday, but thought you had put entries in on the website, please email Belinda at [email protected]
