  1. My dog's a dope because she sits in the same spot for hours staring at cupboards that have her ball or stuffed toy in them. My other dog's a dope because he routinely tries to zoom around the house, resulting in him bashing his head on doors and sliding around corners like a moron.
  2. Neither of mine like water very much. They just never have We have a clam shell but they just use it as a big water bowl. Only time Mo ever actually got in was because my friends two year old daughter was in it *rolly eyes* I haven't really persisted as I don't really care if they like it or not. They aren't scared or anything, just not interested.
  3. Yep, totally agree. The only way to get people to buy purebred dogs (I.e. people who don't know much about them, not us on DOL) is to advertise where people look for puppies. Most people look on the trading post, gumtree etc. you can't compete with BYBs if they are all these people are seeing. I found my Aussie in the trading post, she was from a great breeder. Where you advertise is irrelevant IMO, as Kirislin said, you will be screening the home anyway.
  4. I don't know if I agree that the OP can just draw a line. If the damage the OPs dog did causes further issues down the track why should the cats owner have to be out of pocket?
  5. Neither would I. And yet, I've managed to raise 5 pups working full time whilst NEVER leaving a pup alone for so long. Its about the level of commitment you're prepared to make to a pup, not whether or not you work. God knows what some breeders think of those who raise litters while having full time jobs. That would classify as "special assistance", would it not? Hmm? Not to me. Nothing "special" about it. You do what is best for the pup and give it what it needs. That's what responsible, committed dog owners do whether they work or not. But from the sounds of things you'd have not even given my home a second thought Jed. This is a quote from your original post. I'd like to think that quite a few full time workers including me have proven that statement wrong. It works if you're prepared to put the effort into making it work. Well said.
  6. I would say that anything that occurs due to the attack is your responsibility, not that I know much about these things, so I could be wrong.
  7. I'm not worried that some decide not to sell puppies to people who work full time. There are lots of good breeders who actually find out about the buyers situation and make an informed decision. I resent the implication that nobody who works full time can raise a healthy happy dog, it just isn't true.
  8. Yeah our little chi drank a heap once at the beach. I remember sitting at a cafe and she threw up a heap of seawater and foam!
  9. That was my first thought
  10. + 1 to everything Cos. And HW! Yes, well said.
  11. Jed can sell her puppies to whoever she likes. However I think she was the one who was on the attack, no? She has stated that people here think its ok to neglect puppies and that everyone who works full time must be a terrible owner. Sorry, but THAT is an attack.
  12. I want to know where all these perfect unemployed owners get their cash! Anyone?
  13. Yep. My bored, miserable dogs are lying out in the sun with a nice juicy bone, though I guess if they could they would run away. Oh dear is all I can manage  You heartless wench! I'll go open their gate and help them, shall I? :p

  15. Agree with all of this. No wonder people decide breeders aren't worth the trouble and go to BYBs or pet shops. Good thing I won't ever be coming to you for a puppy  although at the moment I'm not working full time I have raised two dogs whilst doing so with no issues whatsoever, as have the overwhelming majority of people responding. How else should we pay for our dogs? You offering Jed? Didn't think so
  16. Yep we've got 'em all here! Our sleepy little beachside suburub one hour north of Sydney more than triples for NYE with morons coming from far and wide. This year for something different they decided to start with the fireworks last night. They are expecting the usual 20,000+ crowd in the main street with police on horses and the dog squad in full force. Seeing I live right in the middle of it I will batten down the hatches this afternoon( they start letting them off in the afternoon that's how smart they are) thunder shirts on the greyhounds. Tomorrow will be dodge to broken glass and vomit when I walk the dogs so yeah...Happy New Year Sounds like where I live
  17. The f***tards in our sh*thole suburb let them off all the time. Random Tuesday night? FIREWORKS!! Not like they have jobs to go too.
  18. Happy new year Stan, and Maddie and your mum :D He is so very handsome as usual!
  19. In my experience it isnt easy to get the RSPCA to attend to an alleged case of animal cruelty. I would imagine there would need to be quite serious complaints for them to attend and seize her dogs?
  20. They're such clever little munchkins :)
  21. Im open to having (and currently own both) rescue and purebred dogs so if I couldn't get a purebred I'd happily get a rescue. I'd probably go for a pup and if I wanted a specific breed i would approach a breed rescue, if I didn't care I'd go the pound.
