  1. It sounds crazy, but I can understand where they're coming from. I wouldn't tolerate that, but I do understand how hard it would be to put down a dog you love. Pretty extreme though :/
  2. Lili tried to chase something today and ran through the mosquito netting on our gazebo.....she made a hole but got caught halfway through and just stopped dead, looked back at me in terror, whites of her eyes showing and all, eejit. I had to get her out of it. She does things like this all the time. Scratching or cleaning herself and falling off the bed/couch is a common one too. Both dogs will throw themselves backwards into your arms, without actually checking if you're there first
  3. Oh no, I'm sorry to hear this Don't beat yourself up, you didn't leave him unvaccinated on purpose, and as others have said vaccinated dogs can get it too. I hope the fact he isn't a pup will go in his favour, as it usually hits puppies quicker than adult dogs. All the best, he is in the right place and getting the fluids he needs. Wishing for a speedy recovery.
  4. I don't believe the frog position is bad, lots of dogs do that, especially SBT's for some reason
  5. My boy is very big and I am always aware of his joints etc because of that, but he often chooses to sleep on the floor when there is a bed or couch available I guess he finds it cooler? Not sure what you can do though, unless you crate him you can't really ensure he is on something soft, weirdo dogs!
  6. Happy Anniversary! I have always respected your opinion in here, and you're always there with good advice for newbies, thank you for that :)
  7. Sorry to hear this Mooper , RIP Jack.
  8. Quick word of caution. Some vaccinated pups can still catch parvo. I'd be keeping him out of more heavily dog populated areas for a while yet. So would I. No one is having a go at you, just cautioning. I have seen vaccinated pups with parvo, the vaccination is not 100% effective. Walking is fairly safe but dog parks are a very big risk, especially if you are in an area with a lot of parvo. Of course what you do with your puppy is up to you.
  9. I don't think you did anything wrong, but i would just get rid of the rushing dog next time. I stamp my foot and yell at any dog that rushes at mine in an aggressive fashion, if that doesn't scare them off they get a kick.
  10. My Aussie is too smart for her own good, always watching everything, listening to everything, very easy to train and teach new things. She pretty much toilet trained our other dog for us and when he was a puppy and doing something naughty, she would race over and bite him on the muzzle and growl to stop him. She is very in tune with our emotions and moods, although my boy is like that also. People often think my Anatolian x is stupid because he doesn't always follow commands, he's not, far from it. He only does what he is told if it benefits him, otherwise we get the proverbial finger!
  11. I hope it all goes well Anne, thinking of you both.
  12. Definitely. She looks cheeky!
  13. Same here. Sometimes I think vets say this so they can get dental money out of you later on! They'll tell me not to feed RMB's, but then comment on how great my dogs coat and teeth are.....
  14. Can't really say why she did it but I wouldnt go to off lead parks anymore. Don't be too upset at her, the other dog may have surprised her, setting her off? Noone can really say. The owner of the other dog needs to have their dog under control as well, so hopefully they take a lesson out of it aswell. I can't imagine taking a small dog to an off lead park things can happen quickly and it doesn't take much to kill a little dog. This is why I avoid dog parks even with my big dog, generally good dogs can do things that are out of character if they're surprised, or if as others have said they're guarding a toy etc.
  15. We sometimes give our guys a little bit of milk with their dry, when they have it (rarely, normally they eat raw). I heard the lactose can upset their tummies but we've never had an issue.
  16. Agree. That's disgusting. I'd be reporting them for neglect.
  17. What a waste of everyone's time. That woman is an idiot.
  18. One of our little chi crosses used to lick and chew at blankets, sheets etc, it was a nervous thing, and was harmless, her brother used to scan the floor and pick up anything big enough to snaffle. Im not sure about Danny though, how is he now?
  19. Id check with the owners, it's their house, and if they say yes problem solved :)
  20. may I politely, but strongly suggest that a second MUCH higher fence be erected inside your property to protect your dog from possible repercussions after mistakes. It is a LOT easier to prevent things from happening ..... I agree with this, do you mean American Bulldog? If so, a 4 foot fence won't be sufficient. You need to make sure the kids next door can never get in, you could have a disaster in your hands. I've also never heard that walking a dog can make them more likely to escape, that doesn't really make sense,, the dogs I used to see coming into the pound when I worked there were usually the dogs that never got walked or got out of their yard, so were bored and therefore escaped.
  21. I agree with this :) It's up to you when you desex, not your vet.
  22. I had a cat years ago who watched tv, he liked fast moving, action type cartoons, teenage mutant ninja turtles was a favourite :) he would just sit and watch.
  23. She's gorgeous hankodie and very lucky to have you! :)
