  1. Yes I'm vegan. I get what youre saying but arent zoos supposed to be about conservation? And we dont exactly eat giraffes, well at least I don't know anyone who does. I suggest if people want to see where their food comes from they go to a slaughterhouse, unless they get their meat from a small farm where they butcher it themselves. I also don't like zoos in general.
  2. Woke up this morning and Lili had squeezed her way up in between us and was simultaneously the big and little spoon to one of us  Head on the pillow, fast asleep.
  3. I'm actually really surprised people wanted to watch that.....it's a bit off
  4. I can't count the number of times it's happened to us, don't these people think about the safety of their own dogs? Letting them run up to unknown dogs? It's just stupid.
  5. I'm sure they will all go to decent homes, but that's not your responsibility, it's the breeders. Of course it's completely up to you but keep in mind, as others have said, this dog could be with you for 15 years or more, so you want to make sure you're getting a puppy that will meet your needs. 6 weeks is still too young which suggests that this person isnt as informed as they should be re breeding dogs. If you do decide to get the pup please ask to see health tests, if there are none, I think you would be asking for trouble to still take it. Best of luck, I know you feel responsible but the breeder is the one who needs to find the pups good homes.
  6. too funny, Ill steal Stan one day!!
  7. Yes, I sometimes have to kick mine off for panting and shaking the whole bed, ANNOYING!
  8. Mosley does this too, plonks his arse down right on me
  9. Mine wake me up at 3am scratching and cleaning their bits Other than that, they snore, hog the bed, step on me like I'm an obstacle course and leave bindis and toys in there for me.
  10. Lili has a perfect sit stay, all I did was have her sit, put my hand out in a stop motion and say stay, and then slowly back away. Once I got to a certain distance I'd let her go and treat. Also did it walking round her in a circle. She is extremely food motivated though!
  11. Yes, Lili follows me around right behind my feet and I often kick her in the chin (do dogs have chins??) without even knowing she was there!
  12. Yes it's stupid, when I was working in a pound we had to search multiple databases, including calling interstate etc, every time a chipped animal came in, could be sooo much easier.
  13. They do! I always brush Mo out the back and leave the hair for the birds. I see them come down and grab clumps of it for their nests. It's the circle of hair! Seriously though, I vacuum pretty much every day as I have two medium to giant dogs with double coats. It tajes ten mins. Big deal. That's dogs! They shed! Meant to say too...little spiky hairs are a nightmare, I'd much rather normal hair as it clumps up and is easier to get rid of.
  14. Agree. They have a coat for a reason!
  15. I'm not sure what you can do, like others my dogs will snatch birds out of the sky if they come down low enough!
  16. I've only ever seen one vet who was aware of the dangers of ivermectin in Australian Shepherds. It's not very comforting! We didn't ever test for it, but we are pretty sure that is a problem with my boy (a BC). He threw up two months in a row immediately (within 24 hours) of receiving an ivermectin based product. We now use different products. It's very important to be aware! Definitely! I haven't tested mine but I avoid the products anyway to be safe. curious: why don't you test? I did look into it, but I had already started giving her flea and worm treatments without ivermectin so didn't see the need. I should do it, partly laziness :/

  18. I had one have a go at me because we had "docked her tail!!" Had to explain that's how they come!! :/

  20. I agree. Id love to have chooks but not with my current dog, I know she would be obsessed with them.
  21. Do your kids get yearly vaccinations though? Vets in Australia don't necessarily follow the AVA guidelines which are not for yearly vaccinations, so I don't vaccinate after the 12 month shot unless immunity is low. I also use sentinel spectrum every 4-6 weeks.
